On January 11th, the Oppas (older male figures to girls) and Samchons (uncles/uncle fans to the girls) of SNSD’s Naver fan cafe “Cistus” released a very heart warming comment, stating “We wish for the girls’ success in Japan and hope that 2011 would also be SNSD’s year again. Hopefully they will not suffer anymore injury or illness.”

[UPDATE]: According to Daum, S.M. Entertainment has officially announced SNSD’s partnership with Intel.
SNSD will participate in various marketing activities to help promote Intel’s next generation of “Core” processors. Targeting the Asian market, promotions will include songs, music videos (3D included), websites and consumer products. A new song and music video will be revealed on the 17th of this month.
Intel will also hold a product showcase in Olympic Park on the 18th, where it is expected that the girls will perform their new song.

Japan’s weekly entertainment magazine Oricon Style, has named both SNSD and KARA as the top two contenders to become the next breakout artists of 2011. Conducted via survey, 500 Oricon employees consisting of an even number of males and females chose KARA as most likely to get their big break in Japan this year, with our girls following in second place (as if they haven’t already! I mean seriously?). Third place went to Japanese idol girl group SKE48 together with sister group AKB48, whilst Japanese rock band Sakanaction took fourth.
Anyhoo, this is yet another outstanding achievement for SNSD and KARA or SoKa, if you will, beating out even some of Japan’s best at their own game.

[Update] It appears that the ‘Banmal Song’ may not be released officially after all! 😦 On January 5th, CN BLUE’s agency told Newsen,
There will not be a duet. Even if CN BLUE plan to release it as their own song, the part of the lyrics Seohyun composed will not be included.
With SNSD & CN Blue‘ s many activities, a duet may actually be impossible at the moment, despite speculations regarding its potential release on various sites.
** This is actually comes at a shock because the ‘Banmal Song”s release was pretty much confirmed. Information regarding the ‘Banmal Song”s release will be updated when available. 😦
The title says it all, and if you’ve been following the YongSeo/Sweet Potato/Goguma couple on ‘We Got Married‘, you would probably be as excited as I am. ^_^ *flails arms*
With the “Banmal Song‘ MV/clip’s release on Youtube, to it’s success on the internet, it has been confirmed by soribada that the song will be released as a digital single on the 14th of January!
After all the effort the couple put into their song, I’m sure the single will do amazingly well on music charts. ^_^

Even though its officially 2011, achievements from 2010 are still coming in. xD
SNSD’s ‘Oh!’ claimed the #1 spot on ‘Hot tracks’ (핫트랙스) annual chart.
In addition to that, ‘Hoot!‘ ranked #9 while ‘Run Devil Run‘ ranked #12. An interesting point to note is that even SNSD’s star collection cards managed to claim #5 on the chart. 🙂

The Japan Gold Disc Awards is a prestigious music awards ceremony held annually, and the selection criteria for winners are based solely on net sales of their records. Therefore, this is a tremendous triumph for both SNSD and KARA having only debuted roughly midway through 2010.

Sawadee krap Thai SONEs.
2011 may just be your year, as SNSD will not only be making one but TWO appearances in your country. First up, Yuri, Yoona, and Sooyoung together with other K-pop idols, will be at the Royal Cliff Hotel in Pattaya, on the 17th, 18th and 19th of January. They will be filming for SBS Korea’s New Year Special, and the hotel is offering room packages for fans who wish to stay under the same roof as their favorite K-pop stars.
And now for the big one… Wait for it… MBC will be hosting a special concert for it’s 50th Anniversary in Bangkok at the Ratchamangkala Stadium on March 12th. The “Korean Music Wave in Bangkok” will play host to over 20 Idol groups including SNSD (YulTi will also be the MCs), so Thai SONEs make sure you head out to show your love and support for the girls and don’t forget those pink lightsabres and balloons!
