With the news of the album’s delayed release, SM has partially redeemed themselves by appeasing the wrath of angry SONEs with following teaser.

3rd Album Release Date Postponed!!

With rumours regarding the possible delay of SNSD’s 3rd album release date circulating around for the past day, official news on the matter has just been released.

Reportedly, due to SM deciding to plan for a simultaneous release worldwide, the release could not be synchronised leading them to push the release back by 2 to 3 weeks. As of yet, there is no official release date. A representative of SM stated

“It has been decided that Girls’ Generation will be releasing a US album. In order to reinforce the plans of having a worldwide release of “The Boys”, we are planning on changing the release dates of the album in Korea as well. Further details about our decision will be announced when they are confirmed.”

While we are all devastated, it appears that SM is continuing the original scheduled release of teasers. (you redeemed yourselves a little there SM…. just a little >=[ ) However in hindsight, what is another 2-3 weeks compared to the year that we’ve waited since Hoot? damn a lot Although, it is good that SM appears to be placing an extra emphasis on the quality and care of this album release.

[Update] The release date of ‘The Boys’ has been postponed for reasons yet to be known (via Yurui912 & soshified@twitter) D: Whether this delay will affect the upcoming teasers, digital song release on the 4th or the Music Bank comeback on the 7th… we don’t know yet. T_T  FALSE ALARM!? Distributors have retracted their changed release dates… we really do not know wtf is going on, but at the moment, take it as if the delay never happened. Following Taeyeon’s teaser photo, in which we saw our kid leader transform into an aristocratic young lady from the late eighteenth century, SM Entertainment has released two new photos of Sunny and Hyoyeon.

Perhaps the biggest clue in yesterday’s teaser was the bitten apple in Taeyeon’s hand, evocative of Snow White’s poisoned apple, which elicited fans to speculate that the concept might be princesses or fairy tales. Today’s new teasers strengthen the latter: Sunny’s vibrant red cloak bears resemblance to Little Red Riding Hood while Hyoyeon looks almost doll-like.

With such a striking difference from Taeyeon’s photo, the concept still isn’t completely clear. We’ll just have to wait a few more days for more photos… which could either solidify postulated concepts or hurl the fandom into even more speculation.

Oh SM, you tease.
