UPDATE 05/04/11: It’s been exactly one week since the release of “Mr. Taxi”, and the single has already sold over 100,000 copies, making it the fastest selling Shoujo Jidai release since their debut in Japan, back in September of last year.
Both versions of the PV have also surpassed the 2 million views mark on YouTube! Keep adding to the count by watching them here and here.
The single is currently number 1. on Japan’s Billboard Top 100 Weekly Chart.

Hello this is SNSD Tiffany. The reason why I make a surprise appearance is because SNSD’s third Japanese single is finally out. The title is Mr. Taxi. Mr taxi taxi taxi. It’s a song called Mr. Taxi. It has a very fun rhythm and very fun melody. It is a song we personally like very much and think we can present a new and fun side to you all so we’re also excited and anticipating it. Please await out performance and choreography and give Mr. Taxi a lot of love.

Other than being one of the five basic tastes and a term of endearment, Sweet, is also the name of a Japanese fashion magazine. With that being said, the current issue features Shoujo Jidai looking very “sweet” indeed.

Shoujo Jidai, have once again made history for being the first foreign artist to win the “Best Pop Video” award for “GENIE”, at the Space Shower Music Video Awards in Japan.
Danshins on top!
Hosted by Space Tower TV, the awards ceremony celebrates the best in Japanese music television much like the MTV Video Music Awards, and for the girl’s to beat out J-Pop hard hitters such as AKB48 and Perfume and claim the best pop video award, says a lot about their popularity in Japan.
Congratulations to the girl’s and best wishes for their ongoing success in the country.

SNSD recently appeared on an interview for Japanese fashion magazine, SPUR:
I was grinning ear to ear whilst watching this video, even though my Japanese/Korean proficiency is like 0.01% and I had absolutely no idea what they were talking about… the color pink maybe? (Duh lol). But anyway, they are just so cute in this! I mean check out Taeyeon with that mic, Fany ranting and ending wars with her eyes, and don’t even get me started on Sunny (pouting!!!). Oh they slay me..

A recent survey conducted by Japanese entertainment label Avex’s online music store “mu-mo”, asked 70,000 participants what their favorite love song for Valentine’s Day was. Shoujou Jidai’s ‘Gee’ came in at 2nd place; whilst Kara’s ‘Mister’ placed 3rd. J-Pop singer Kana Nishino claimed the number one spot.
The lyrics of the songs apparently played an important role in participants’ selection processes.
