Earlier on this afternoon, our ladies & SME‘s representative,Kim Youngmin, attended the above mentioned event, where they discussed matters on their overseas activities as well as future plans.
Quoting a translation from fanwonder,
Kim Youngmin attributes SNSD’s success to three main factors – abilities, planning and adaptability to media changes. SNSD, whose success becomes the envy of many singers in United States and Europe, are committed to conquer the Asian market.
In matters related to the Chinese market, Kim Youngmin said that the girls who had a concert in Shanghai and recently in Taiwan have been learning Chinese since their debut. For their performances in Asia, they have learned many different things as well. He hopes that in the future, there will be opportunites for the girls to perform in China again.
Here are some pictures.
The conference was broadcasted on a Japanese TV channel and you can check it out under the cut.
If you take a closer look, you would realise that Sooyoung was not present at that moment. Reason being?
According to her mum,she tripped and has got some bruises. May she have a speedy recovery!

*Have. Anyway, any chance of translation? Does ‘discussed matters on their overseas activities as well as future plans’ by any chance include trying to break into the VAST English speaking market?

Poor girls, they look so tired, especially Yoona. CEO Kim if you want the girls to conquer Asia at least give them some room to breath so they can show their best instead of burning them out and squeezing them dry. SNSD is SM’s most valuable asset right now and should be a priority in terms of management, the girls really have a lot of potential long-term if they’re managed properly instead of taking a short-term “cash in right now” approach.

Wow, learning Chinese? I’m Chinese and I’ve been flunking the subject and suck at speaking the language(not really, but my pronunciation’s somewhat of crap) ever since I was little. I kind of admire their multilingual skills.
On Topic: I don’t know, the ladies look well and all despite their hectic schedules, but it’s their inner feelings which I’m worried about. Sure, saying that the ladies have a limitless amount of energy is no justification to SME pushing them some more and wearing them out, I wouldn’t be able to retain a straight face if I was put in under tremendous pressure. Luckily, they have each other to care for and encourage, displaying their remarkable ability, still, no justification.
I just wish there was someone(like a mother) to knock some common sense and decency into these greedy lil’ blights.
No, I’m not British.

I wish the girls had more say in what the want to do instead of what SME wants them to do (or maybe they do have some say, I don’t know). At least I hope the hectic schedule and the rapid fire activities are consented by the girls themselves instead of some corporate suit deciding everything. People generally are more motivated and happier doing what they want to do instead of what they’re told to do.
I agree completely that their seemingly “effortless” ability to handle the inhumane schedule is no grounds to push them even further, eventually something will break and it will be a no-win situation for anybody, I do not want to see a repeat of TVXQ, or SNSD being forced into a prolonged hiatus due to someone getting hospitalized out of exhaustion.
I probably care too much anyway, I have no problem claiming the title of “The Most Concerned SONE”, friends accuse me all the time of my obsession as they’re just celebrities that we’ll probably never get to meet and they’ll probably never know of our existence (though I did see them at SMTown LA), so why do I care so much, only because I want to see SNSD prosper for a long time, because they’re too good, too beautiful, too talented to be burnt out and wasted in a short period of time.

I love that they’re focusing on Asia instead of trying their luck here in the U.S. The only thing that they need work on is the language barrier, but other than that they practically rule over the Asian continent already :). We here in the States, would like to spread the word about our girls, and maybe sometime in the near future, the U.S. market will be the one knocking on our girls’ door 🙂
By LadyIgraine on 2010/11/02 at 4:20 am
Agreed, I’m glad they’re not following the likes of WG, Se7en, and their senior BoA. The success of their ventures into the US have been a mixed result at best. Concentrating efforts in Asia will probably generate the best result financially and popularity wise for the girls. If they can manage to lock down Korea, Japan and China, they’re good as gold. I don’t think language is as big a barrier these days as before, most music fans in Asia prefer them speaking and singing in their natural tongue anyway, plus the popularity of KPop has generated a lot of interest in people wanting to learn Korean, much the same way Japanese anime stirred interest in the Japanese language. They are after all, the number 1 driving force behind the second coming of Hallyu.

Aww come on! Wonder Girls are pretty big in the US now.. I may be biased but really, is SNSD in any way not better than them?
By ILOVESOOYOUNG on 2010/11/02 at 4:41 pm
They’re all so pretty~
Sooyoung unnieeeeee~ get well soon so you can be your shikshin self with the girls haha

What a beautiful set of pictures! Thank you for posting them!
I’m based in the Uk and have to admit that I’d love to see the Girls perform here. But I’d be scared of western influences on their music. In my opinion Girls Generation are a universe in talent above anything that either britain or america has to offer. They could teach western girl groups a thing or two about dedication to their craft and hard work and how to treat their fans. SNSD are far, far more talented than any western group out here.
And their music and their personalities make me smile on a daily basis.
And for this I thank them with all my heart.

OMG, Tiffany’s English is so good! Her voice sounds like a sweet melody xD. I’m American and I’ve noticed how Korean’s have a deeper voice when they speak their dialect? It might just be me lol. But Tiffany, Jessica and Taeyeon sound different when they speak English compared to Korean. I want to hear Yuri speak English :3
By wutdafruit on 2010/11/02 at 11:18 pm
BTW, someone told me Tiffany and Jessica were born in the US… is that true?
By wutdafruit on 2010/11/02 at 11:19 pm
Yes it’s true.
