[Update] Japanese ‘Hoot’ CF added.
Korean artists are conquering Japan’s twitter community that is. 🙂
AND…. of course our very own SNSD/Shoujo Jidai girls are one of them.
SNSD rounded up the top 5 in Japan’s Twitter Search Statistic Site while other Hallyu stars such as JYJ’s Hero Jaejoong and KARA ranked 1st and 3rd respectively in the ‘famous individual’ category this year. SNSD’s seniors, TVXQ also came in 7th and JYJ’s Xiah Junsu secured 10th place.
Both SNSD’s and KARA’s phenomenal popularity in Japan is evident as they were among the top 3 Korean artists ranked within the top 5 of the list despite being ‘rookies’.
Lets have a little recap of SNSD’s success in Japan shall we?
-Since their Japanese debut in September, they have released 2 Japanese singles ‘Genie‘ and ‘Gee‘ where both singles recorded sales exceeding 100,000 copies and received the Golden Certificates from Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ).
-In August, SNSD’s first Japanese showcase recorded a total attendance of 22,000 at Ariake Coliseum.
– As we previously reported, SNSD’s newly released Licensed Japanese Edition 3rd Mini Album ‘Hoot‘ recorded a massive sale of 21,271 copies on the first day, putting the at #2 on Oricon Daily Album Chart.
With popularity that is increasing exponentially by day, it sure comes as no surprise that they are one of the hottest search items on Twitter!

I love them i always listen their songs every time when i wake up…
That’s all I Have to say to them, I LOVE SNSD SO MUCH.
ooopps, I forgotten to say congratulations to SNSD for their hardwork paying off! Here’s to more success overseas in the coming year
I’d like a less risky headline than this.
at first, i was a little disappointed that our girls are only at no. 5 :(. but then i realize, the girls weren’t that active in japan, except their singles and a few music program appearances, that’s why they are a tiny bit behind. i like how SM/UMJ’s promoting the girls in japan: they slowly build a fanbase (including the jsones who are already into SNSD) plus, getting japanese people be familiar with the girls through their music. i love how they’re trying to anticipate the japanese people with their next move rather than spending the time releasing an album one after another, and then fizzle out later. 2011, is definitely a promising year in japan for SoShi…if 2010 is the beginning of their success, then 2011 will be the most anticipated year for SNSD since it’ll be the year that they’ll be more active there.
congratulations to the /girls… Love it… ^_^… SNSD is absolutely 1 hehehehe…
Oh My Gosh…i know this is totally not related to this article, but it will make you really proud as a fan. You know why? I saw this clip of a japanese show making an analysis of how SNSD and akb48 and you’ll be surprise of how an akb48 fan views this analysis, and here’s this netizen’s statement:
“The sales number comparison was not to prove AKB’s superiority; it was to show SNSD’s popularity in Japan. To paraphrase from the video, SNSD’s sales numbers tops third place for ‘foreign artist singles’ within the past 30 years. Also, if you look at AKB’s first two singles in the beginning of the year, Gee, also beats out their numbers…This probably means that SNSD’s career in Japan will be quite a long (and influential) one.. whether people like it or not. (AKB fan btw.)”
