With Girls’ Generation’s 10th anniversary approaching, the feels really hit you. To say they’ve come so far since their debut days is an understatement. I remember during high school when I first started stanning our girls, people around me would say they won’t be big and they’ll disband soon because of the ‘5 year idol group curse’. The girls proved haters wrong and have become an undisputed legend in the music industry with their longevity and success. Being the first girl group to bring massive success in an era that was dominated by males, dominating album sales and chart rankings both nationally and worldwide, setting a record with 9 consecutive wins with “Gee”, being the only girl group to win the prestigious Daesung award 3 times in a row, appearing on popular American TV Talk Shows—The Late Show with David Letterman and Live! With Kelly, turning heads when they won “Video of the Year” Youtube Awards in 2013, and not to mention ranking 4th on the list of “The Highest Grossing Girl Group Concert Tours of All Time” after TLC, Destiny’s Child, and Spice Girls.
The leader-maknae duo Taeyeon & Seohyun have both reprised their roles as Margot and Edith, respectively, in the to-be-released Korean version of Despicable Me 2 (the Korean title is Superbad 2). A short video was recently released of the two members doing the voice-acting for the animated characters and asking fans to look forward to the film.
Ain’t that just the darned cutest thing? *~*
Alongside Tiffany’s (attempted) midnight anniversary message, other members have also thought to drop us sweet and simple messages to celebrate 6 years of both SoShi and SONE.
Jessica left a pre-mature message on August 4th, instead of August 5th, on her Weibo account;
While Yuri uploaded a photo familiar to all SONEs onto her instagram account;
She included the caption; Continue reading
SNSD are often referred to these days as ‘dae-sunbae (awesome seniors)’ by younger groups, which makes ShinHwa dae-dae-sunbaes. Having recently wrapped up promotions for their 11th studio album, first generation idol group have been proving that they still got it, recently doing a concert tour. A couple SNSD members made sure to attend the grand finale show, giving some support to the legendary group.
Taeyeon uploaded a video onto instagram on August 3rd of the crowd during the concert opening, commenting “I’m nervous! Looking forward to it looking forward to it. #ShinHwaCreation~”
The chuckles heard in the video were apparently Yuri, as photos were also released of the two members visiting M a.k.a Minwoo backstage Continue reading
Recently, Taeyeon, Tiffany and Sunny headed to L.A as invitees to the L.A Dodgers vs Cincinnati Reds game. As a celebration of Korea Day, Taeyeon performed the Korean national anthem, “”Aegukga (Patriotic Song/Song of Patriotism)” while Tiffany sang the American national anthem, “Star-Spangled Banner“. The opening pitch of the game was thrown by Sunny.
Sunny’s pitch has received a thumbs up from fans (because any pitch is better than a JeTi pitch) while Taeyeon and Tiffany both received praise for the performances, with Korean netizens noting how well they did. The event has been one of high public interest; when it was announced the three girls would be in L.A singing the national anthem earlier this month, the search phrase “Taeyeon Tiffany Sunny L.A Dodgers” became the number one most searched in a matter of hours on popular korean portal Naver.
Tiffany’s epic fan-service (she’s so nice TT__TT):
After a whilrlwind of a run, the last episode of Dating Agency: Cyrano aired last night, bringing a close to the adventures of Gong Minyoung & Co. and the drama debut of our up-and-at-em shikshin, Sooyoung.
I think it’s safe to say Sooyoung exceeded all expectations with her performance – there was a little bit of awkwardness here are there but overall she did much better than many other idols who have tried their hand at acting and we were all pleasantly surprised to see how much she had prepared for the gig. Sooyoung was perfect for the role of Gong Minyoung and expressed her perfectly, her comedy was on beat and cleverly delivered, and most importantly her chemistry with fellow lead, Lee JongHyuk was absolutely ace. Whether you like Gong Minyoung and Seo Byunghoon together romantically or platonically, there is no denying that together they are adorable and hilarious.
Overall she gave an impressive performance in her first lead role and Dating Agency: Cyrano has been incredibly enjoyable. Sooyoung-ah, we’re proud of you!
After the airing of the last episode, Sooyoung hit the official Girls’ Generation website and left the following message for her fans, taking time to thank all of her co-stars, the staff, her members and fans:
Earlier this year, SNSD signed an endorsement contract with Hair Couture, a hair fashion specialist brand and a tenacious player in the lucrative market that is South Korea’s, and also the Asian continent’s desire for wigs and extensions (yep). With SNSD as their models, Hair Couture has been planning an aggressive seize of the hair market, and recently uploaded some photos of the SNSD members using their products.
Here, Taeyeon uses Hair Couture‘s mocha-brown hair extensions with a loose wave to create a casual two-toned look.
Earlier this week, kko-kko-leader Taeyeon attended the launch for cosmetic brand Benefit’s new lip color line, alongside many other South Korean celebrities. She showed up in a cute blue ensemble with a pink purse accent, looking almost offensively adorable and far more cheek-pinchable than anyone her age should be looking. She also brought the faaaabulousness, strutting her strut and flipping her hair. WERK IT TAENG, WERK IT. Continue reading
