On Youtube, the girls’ performance of ‘Oh!’ at last year’s ‘SM TOWN ’10 LIVE in LA‘ ripped from Samsung’s blu-ray Demo Disc has surfaced.
At the moment, the DVD/blu-ray disc itself isn’t released to be sold yet, but according to one of our readers’s tip in the ‘Questions/Comments’ section,
Free SMTown Concert in 3D for Samsung Internet-connected 3D tv. Samsung is offering free 3D content to spur 3D TV sales. Look at the picture at engadget and SMTown concert is on there. Available in UK now, elsewhere soon.

Who else wants to get their hands on the DVD/blu-ray disc? I don’t like the idea of having to buy a TV for it though >:[

Well, I spent $100 buying a copy of Jessica’s “Sweet Delight” CD. I guess I can dish out a couple thousand for a 3DTV.

Watch it while you still can. Soshified has removed the download link because it’s considered “official video”. I just wonder where you can even buy this blu-ray… it looks like it’s for Samsung’s internal demo use only.

Now that’s totally cool, although there were a few audio problems (that produce a rather audible “ZZZIT” boom sound during loud portions of the song) present throughout the duration of “Oh!”.
It’s noticeable if you’re using headsets/headphones. As for speakers, well, I don’t know. Haven’t tested it out yet.
It’s either a problem with my computer’s audio system, ubiquitous among everybody’s PCs, or a normal occurrence with music produced by large-scale Hi-Fi sets captured on video, resulting in a jarring sound when using the playback function on camera recorders.
Hannah said:
No it’s the same on the stero too 😦
Might be a ripping problem or something else

More than the dvd or blu-ray.. I WANT THEM BACK IN LA FOR ANOTHER CONCERT!!!!!!!!! 😦
Does anybody have any idea when they may come back? *Crosses fingers for at least next year*

I’m still waiting for my SNSD Blu-ray 😐
Why hasn’t anyone released anything in stores yet? I bet lots of people will buy Blu-ray players and HDTVs just to watch SNSD in the best quality possible!
Hannah said:
I think that too but SM doesn’t seem to be on the same page as the fans 😦

WOW !!! That is AMAZING image quality indeed 😉 😀 😀 !!!

It’s important to note about that engadget link that Samsung wants you to buy a Samsung TV. If the DVD/Blu-ray of SMTown LA is sold separately, that means that one could play it on any brand of TV/player. If Samsung has its way, you can only see this footage if you buy a Samsung TV/player. Samsung has created “apps” that only work with their internet-connected TVs. If you have purchased a Samsung 3D internet TV, you will have (or soon will have) access to an app that will play full-length movies, music videos, trailers, and clips, all in 3D, for free. Other commenters at engadget say that they also see this 3D app on Samsung’s internet-connected 3D Blu-ray players (but you would still need a 3D tv to take advantage of it). Over 70 free titles will be available by the end of 2011, and I only assume that SMTown is, or will be, one of those titles because it is on the front of that promotional picture at engadget.
Now I don’t know what the plan is for SMTown LA DVD. The footage looks great, but I feel that if it was meant to be sold then it would have been put up for sale by now. After all, it was filmed over 8 months ago and the songs may feel dated. Moreover, there are SMTowns to be held in Paris and Tokyo, and SM would rather you buy a ticket instead of the DVD. If I were to guess, I think that SMTown LA will remain a Samsung exclusive, or perhaps that footage may be combined with future tapings in Paris and Tokyo for a single compilation SMTown World Tour 2010-11, once this round of SMTowns are over. I just don’t know what to say other than: Buy a Samsung 3D tv, because they support the girls!

We should start a petition for all the SNSD MVs so far on Blu-ray…

I cant crank this vid up loud as the audio has problems.
The vid quality is superb!
Only complaint is the make the video sound too “clean” as they edited out the audience sounds so it has a less concert feel.

Looks like i’m not the only one who’s hearing scratching sounds in the audio while i’m watching.
Like what JustaTip said, it’s been 8 months(?) since that footage was taken, and there’s SMTown Paris and Tokyo to look forward to,so let’s just move along. Though i must say, just by watching the video really made me feel like i was re-living the entire scene again, as if SMTown LA 2010 was only just yesterday.
Honestly,i don’ think i can fork out that much money to get the promotional(?) Blu-ray DVD.

@ Im
If you were reliving the scene again, I assume you went to SMTown LA… lucky you…. the best money you ever spent because you created a lasting memory.
One Youtube commenter at the above video said that the audio is completely different from the one he/she heard in LA. For one, they have toned down the crowd audio considerably, and this person claims that they have spliced in the EXACT audio from the SMTown Seoul Official CD to cover up various flubs, and the only thing different was Tiff’s shout out to LA at the end. So this promotional DVD seems to be polished up.
SMTown LA had sparse stage decorations, unlike the over-the-top stage setups in Korea, China. Since SMTown LA was planned to be shot in 3D, maybe they thought it would be best to focus on filming the performers, and avoid distracting neon signage that may not look as good in 3D.
Youtube does support 3D uploads, so I wonder if a 3D rip is available.
RagingXL said:
They did remaster the sound on this video to remove crowd noises and cover up the flubs (btw the scratching noises is a youtube-related problem, the original file used by the uploader does not have noises), but I don’t think they used SMTown Seoul’s official audio. One thing that differentiates SMTown LA Oh! performance was that Jessica forgot to sing half her line at the 32 second mark (she must have thought she had a head-mic and forgot to use her hand-mic). I compared that to my own fancam and found the exact problem:
In terms of releasing this DVD/Blu-Ray and it potentially cannibalizing future SMTown ticket sales, I don’t think so at all. Fans from all over the world would much rather see their idols live and the atmosphere is something that just can’t be bought from a video. But the fact is I don’t think this blu-ray will ever be released because it looks like something Samsung will keep exclusively for advertising purposes only.

Awesome youtube channel there, RagingXL. You got the makings of a dvd at your YT channel. Thank you.
Audience doesn’t seem so loud in that clip either. Was everyone too busy filming with their phones/cameras to cheer that loudly? I much prefer the crazy fans at that Hanyang University festival.

ooooo, GAH I wish I could get my hands on that Blu-ray demo disc SO badly!!!! Amajjang quality! and to see SoShi in 3D?! that’s probably the closest I’ll get to meeting them!!!
Plus, I haven’t seen much from that Run Devil Run 3D MV clip…has anyone ripped it? or seen it fully?
C’mon SM, please?? release it and we’ll buy it! lol
Or Samsung should just pack this demo disk with their TVs, and as a result, create more SONEs! 🙂
I understand how some people say this is a little too clean, little audience sounds, takes away from the concert feel. But at the same time, most fancams are WAY too shaky, too noisy, and there’s just too much chaos hahah (of course, if I was filming, of course, seeing SoShi live would cause me to go crazy too!) I think its fine, and you can definitely still feel the concert atmosphere I think
hahah, with Sica not singing half of her part at the beginning, I didn’t even notice until I read other peoples posts. I guess since I was playing Oh! in my head, I made myself hear her sing her part fully XD lolol
SOSHI FIGHTING!!!!

Does anyone know HOW this particular promo Blu-ray disc got into someone’s hands? Were they given out at industry trade shows, or did someone swipe it from a trade show booth or electronics store demo setup? Perhaps it was included with a 3D tv in the box when someone bought it to show off the capabilities of the set. (3D tv sales are weak, in part, because of the lack of 3D content to spur demand,,, that’s why James Cameron is making a big push to film his content in 3D to create that demand.)
If you enlarge the two small pictures above:
The disc picture says its a Samsung promo disc, not for resale or rental, with an expiration date of Fed 28, 2013. This means that Samasung has locked up the exclusivity of this material for quite awhile.
The pic of the demo booth seems like it is all in Chinese, and the disc setup menu is in all English and only lists 9 songs, including only Oh! and Genie for SNSD
RagingXL said:
Nobody knows for sure how this Blu-Ray disc got leaked onto the interwebs. I heard a rumor that Samsung was actually bundling this BR disc with their 3D TVs in the UK, that could be the source of these videos if somebody didn’t swipe it from a trade show or from a store demo unit.
The pictures are indeed taken at a Chinese electronics store, and it appears to be Samsung exclusive content either for demonstration and/or bundling only. Unfortunately it looks like the only two SNSD videos on the disc was the Oh! live performance and the Genie 3D MV, both of which I downloaded the full quality video rip and it looks absolutely stunning on my Samsung LED TV.
