There is no doubt that SNSD’s success is no longer as simple as winning a few trophies and gaining the number one spot on music charts. It’s something much greater and beyond that with many professionals recognizing the impact these 9 girls are making on the “world”. From increasing sales for SME, to becoming the top CF endorsers, and to being recognized as a Korean culture icon, you know SNSD isn’t just simply an idol group.
Speaking of commercial deals, SNSD has been dubbed “CF Shidae” due to some recent findings on an online community. Since 2003 to 2010, the girls have completed 64 commercials! Yoona has done 15 out of those 64 alone, making her the queen of it all. Like SONEs always say, the power of the 9 is undeniable.

Well deserved. SNSD is a huge cultural phenomenon across Asia and their music are enjoyed by millions, the scope of their impact is arguably wider than soccer superstar Park Jisung and ice queen Kim Yuna right now. The earnings numbers alone are enough to prove their power, and their activities in 2010 definitely gave SM’s stock price a huge boost. There’s hardly any question SNSD is on top right now, let’s hope it continues in 2011.

interesting…. i never thought forbes korea does not include net assets as their main selection criteria
RagingXL said:
They did include their earnings as a criteria, SNSD had over 100m won of profits from their music, CFs and other activities in Korea, and over 120m profits from their Japanese activities. But this ranking is not a wealth ranking, it’s a power and influence ranking, so a variety of categories were considered, not just wealth.
Michael Henry said:
Hey where did you get those numbers?
SNSDKorean does not mentain them making 120 mill won in Japan and 100 mill won in Korea?
Yet, they did on AllKPop…?
Hmm… Who reads who?
My point lol! 🙂
Guest108 said:
120 million won lol. that’s about 100 000 USD. The issue is that forbes has been known for total assets. anyways good for snsd to score high in the other categories! fighting~

Very nice. Ranked #1, TOP OF THE LIST, BEST OF THE BEST, CREAM OF THE CROP, NO OTHER THAN SNSD!!!!!!
SNSD FIGHTING!!!!!!!!!!!! I always have a hard time expressing to my friends how much SNSD rules over Korea, now that Forbes has agreed on it, hopefully they’ll realize! lol

love them or hate them, you can’t avoid them…they’re simply the most recognizable idol group in the whole of kpop 🙂

Wow lol… I read this like almost 10 hours ago on AllKPop.com 🙂
And yet again… Another “Copy”
Id speed it up because I know that lots are seeing this… All the slowness and copying from other sources lol! 😀
**Tsk Tsk**

I’m sorry but you’re wrong. AKP might have reported on the same story 10 hours ago, but their article is written completely differently and far less insightful than what was written here, SNSDKorean didn’t copy anybody. Speed doesn’t equal quality, and plus, no SONE is dying out there for not reading this story pronto. This is a fansite for goodness sake, not a news site, news is only part of they do here, it’s not everything.
Michael Henry said:
Well we don’t need to know EVERY SINGLE LITTLE DETAIL lol 🙂
Just knowing they are the #1 Power House celebrity is good enough for me 😀 (and most others)
And they obviously saw it on top stories on AllKPop and then found the ORIGINAL source and say they “found” it there lol… You all are very gulible to these people…
They are just normal folks yes but just wanna use SNSD’s popularity for themselves lol…
What a shame They could just show SNSD news but they have to get #1 on Twitter awards and have a 94,500 most viewed days (self promoting off SNSD’s success)
This website would be nothing with SNSD working their butts off. I’m saying they copy other fansites, websites, and even SNSD themselves…
And it’s just what I see…Because it is quite obvious lol 🙂

Isn’t Park Jisung the person who plays for Manchester United Football team? If it’s him he must be popular considering he plays in England. 😮
PeachBlossom said:
yup…park ji sung is a manchester uni. soccer player, and his name is synonymous not just in korea, but in england :).
btw: SNSD is the only idol that is mentioned as one of the things korea is best known…alongside kimchi, park jisung, and dae jang geum 🙂

While I have to say that what Boss Lady said in the final section of this post about how the prowess of each of the ladies in SNSD is undeniable and spreading is something which I definitely agree with, I’m afraid that the biggest challenge to being recognized by the world as a whole is those who constantly rebuff anything K-Pop related, perhaps anything related with contemporary pop culture; phenomenons, fads, the internet and social networking, anything.
Now, I don’t want to sound spiteful, but hear me out first. I remember something about Elton John and his tirades against anything pop culture related, but that’s another story.
SNSD has done a lot to achieve this level of recognition and acknowledgement by the Korean and Global community, and we love ’em for that, after seeing them through a lot. There are more people out there than K-Pop fans who are either reluctant to or simply apathetic towards attempting new things and increase their “Global aptitude” because they think that K-Pop or any form of pop culture deteriorates their current character to something less desireable, and would rather stick to rational forms of information to supplement their daily needs (Finance, politics, world affairs, anything synonymous, classical and instrumental music). Also, they wouldn’t really take notice and undermine it, obviously they think we’re stupid and what they go by is far more superior; Elitism. Not because they’re antis’, they’re just being as objective as they can without interference of any kind to affect the way they think.
I think I dwell too much on the negative aspects of any given topic and phrase it to sound like there is no room for recourse, I find myself in the odd position of both a fan and those who dislike or is prejudiced about this sort of things, so much so predilections exist nor do I find reason to say so that it’s “Eclectic”. Perhaps it’s due to the community I’m in, too overly analytical, probably why I’m talking like this. There appears to be some sort of line blurring between what I perceive as logical or just downright irrational; reality or virtual.
If what I say is nothing more, I have enough faith in the power of the 9 to change the world unlike what I previously thought, it’s actually better than what most might say, provided those who just dislike K-Pop in plain sight change. As long as rational reasoning still persists, I don’t see how K-Pop as a whole is that bad. Hope to see SNSD all the way for years to come.

I obviously don’t think K-Pop is rubbish, unlike what others think or say, even though I’m touching on another topic unrelated to the original intent of this post.
Hey, I’m looking forward to what SNSD has in store for the future, and for us fans to introduce the general crowd to something else different. If they’re willing to accept virtual reality being incorporated into real life, I don’t see the logic with not accepting something else similar based on significance level.
