Any rumors on how SNSD are able to maintain their fine physiques (other than through rigorous training) can now be put to rest!
On the Lunar New Year special of SBS program, “What Are Stars Doing?” SNSD’s trainer, Kim Jihoon revealed that:
SNSD’s daily diet is about 1,500 kCal. They take seasonal herbs, 5 cuts of brocolli, grilled chicken breast meat 100 gram, 150g brown rice, etc. They usually eat well.

Also, according to a ‘Stars You Would Like To Dine With‘ survey, SNSD placed 2nd, behind Strong Heart and Star King MC Kang Ho Dong.
Even though they came in at second, let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to dine with these girls? I mean, they play with their asparagus!

I’m going to be as unproductive as ever by saying “First comment”!
On another, thanks for the informative post.
*Another note.
cant view this vid due to the copy right grounds… x(
okay sry now i can… xD
A healthy diet indeed 😀 !!! In addition, dining with the ladies would be a dream come true for myself, I don’t know about you guys 😉 ?!!
So for kicks and giggles I tried their ideal meal plan out for today…well, I did my best, at least. I replaced the seasonal herbs with two hard-boiled eggs and followed the rest almost exactly, although I had to guess at what ‘cuts of broccoli’ look like >__>
I give the “diet” as a whole a 3/5…chicken’s always good, and so is rice, but veggies should be supplemented with fruits…not to mention the serious lack of dairy! 1% milk or even yogurt isn’t bad, in fact studies have shown it helps you take on a better/keep your figure. I trust when the trainer says they eat well and the meal’s not so bland you couldn’t live on it. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m gonna go eat some New Year’s cake ^^
Lol Lauren thats so cute.
But seriously, everything that they eat in one day is just lunch for me 🙂
1500 kCal?? are you effin serious??
give them some more food!!! doctors who order their patients to go on a diet are usually given a 2000 kCal diet!
Hey, “respect” to you, plotbunny for trying out the girls daily menu so quickly 😀 ! To be honest, I think the diet excluded any dairy products for the simple reason that most Asians cannot process lactose due to a genetic abnormality of being unable to produce lactase in our bodies (the enzyme that breaks down the lactose in milk / milk products to glucose, that the body can use for energy). So I suppose the girls supplement with tofu or soya products for the dairy portion of their diets ;). On the whole, the diet looks quite palatable to the tastebuds :).
@Kenneth.
I don’t know if this is the right place to ask or not, but I’ll just go ahead. Reason being you’re working at the SG General Hospital, so I think you’ll have the required knowledge in answering a health-related question.
I have a friend who is an overzealous SNSD fan and I recently showed her this post. Now, she’s obsessed about getting a slim figure.
However, she’s lactose intolerant and dislikes taking vegetables. What would you recommend as an acceptable substitute or supplement to make up for the lack of vital nutrients that vegetables or dairy products give you? I heard that foodstuffs like cheese and yogurt go through a process where they remove most of the lactose but still retains the overall nutrients needed for a body to function and grow properly.
P.S: Anything that isn’t palatable to her is disregarded though.
Nearly forgot, she isn’t on a diet and is willing to eat anything as long as it doesn’t upset her stomach. Perfectly average female figure who wants to improve upon herself and have her body like SNSD’s.
@ Terrez
Perhaps your friend can try more soya-based stuff (e.g. soya milk, for example, to subsitute for dairy milk). Another good alternative is tempeh, a type of food product made up of fermented soya beans. Steamed or lightly fried with tau pok and long beans, its delicious 😉 ! As for vegetables, I’m sure she doesn’t “hate” all types. right ? Perhaps she can try the goguma /broccoli combination as shown in the posted video by the SNSD nutritionist ? All in all, diet is only one part of the equation, adequate exercise being the other part :). The other important bit to tell your friend is that she has to eat in proportion to the expected energy output in her day-to-day activities. SNSD members work out daily in the gym, practice their performance routines almost non-stop and attend “ad-nauseum” promotions and functions :D, hence their “ability” to stay slim. I’m sure your friend’s daily schedule is not so packed as that 😉 ! To be honest, unless her lactose-intolerance is so bad as to be medically debilitating, small amounts of milk / yogurt products should be fine. Well, I hope I’ve answered your question sufficiently, Terrez :). Cheers !
Thanks. I’ll work out the kinks with her.
=D
healthy diet………
SNDS, fighting! ^^
LOL… wow.. 1500kCal a day? wows…
By looking at physique of the girls, esp. Seobaby, Yuri, Hyoyeon, I can tell that they get a proper amount of carbohydrate and protein everyday. Probably they get several small meals a day, eating sweet potatos or bananas like that here and there to get a steady supply of complex carbohydrate throghout a day, and one or two protein meals, like chicken breast or fish every day. They just need to get more sleep to be always in good health.
Heh, yeah, you’re right, enough rest / sleep is always important to maintain a healthy body 😀 😀 😀 !!!
@ Terrez
That’s the one thing I missed out in my answer to your question above : Enough Rest 😉 !!!
I think this is only a general answer though, surely the specific diet that each individual member goes through is different from each other – if only ever so slightly.
For example, imagine asking Sooyoung to eat the exact same amount as anyone else. She’ll probably be craving for mushrooms all the time or something. lol
Well good! theyd better be feeding them well! working nonstop 24/7 they must get worn out!
They better be eating good. Lol.
Very glad to hear it.
I hope they enjoy their meals.
I would love to dine with SNSD anyday!
One of my life’s goal is to go to an all you can eat buffet with them! xDD
I eat 2000 American calories per day, at least, and usually weigh 128-131 lbs at 5’5. compared to SNSD’s diet mine must make me a greedy whale 😦
Apologies for the late late comment….
