Over the past two days, we saw SBS Gayo Daejun and KBS Gayo Daejun and undeniably, they were both exciting, but this year’s MBC Gayo Daejun has GOT to be wayyyy better. Why? Two words – more Soshi! Not only did YuTi (along with Ryu Si Won) host the festive event, but some of the girls participated in special stages. What a great way to end the year of 2010 and start the year of 2011, don’t you think?

As of now, there are rumors that:
Yoona will be dancing to her sunbae’s, BoA’s, “My Name” for a BoA tribute
Taeyeon will sing with IU
SNSD is supposedly performing “Run Devil Run”, “Oh! (Rock Version)“, and “Hoot” for the event
Hopefully these rumors are true! (1 was true!)

For their first main stage, they performed “Run Devil Run” (I believe MBC divided their stages and they’ll be performing their other songs throughout the event randomly. They are supposedly performing three of their songs tonight)

For their second stage, they performed “Hoot Remix Ver.” and “Oh!”.
Like one of the rumors said, Yoona participated in BoA’s tribute stage along with SHINee’s Taemin, f(x)’s Krystal, and Luna. Yoona, in particular, performed her sunbae’s “My Name”.

The “WHITE” team was the winner at the end and our girls belonged to that team! Congratulations to them!
Also notice that in the “Ending”, there were also BoShi moments around 0:54 seconds and TaeNy moments around 2:05 (because TaeNy is SO real. O.T.P. naw mean jelly bean?).

Yuri and Fany looked really pretty as the hosts for the year-end event. I was actually expecting MBC to end the year with a “bang” but it was a little less exciting as I thought it would be :(. But then again, seeing our SoShi made up for it…love the remixes for RDR, Oh, and Hoot. BIG congratulations to everyone, especially to our girls…2010 had a lot of memorable moments. Wishing for another great year for SNSD for 2011, and a safe and healthy one for all of us. Cheers!
btw: party’s at our house tonight for the New Year’s Eve countdown…we got champagnes, wines, beer, hard liquor you name it :). its going to be an alcohol fest tonight 🙂

The stages were briliant!! I especially got a kick out of the ‘teams’ theme this year – Kohaku, anyone? And of course Soshi’s on the White Team, it just fits perfectly ^^ The remixed versions of their hits put me in a dancing mood haha. Happy New Year everyone!!! Contrary to some of the comments above, I had a hoot watching the MBC Gayo Daejun, it was hands down the best Gayo Daejun and they really showed SBS and KBS how a music festivals are ought to be done. It was a brilliant idea to steal a page from the Kohaku and split them up in teams, and let the viewers vote to keep it interesting. They really thought outside the box and held performances in multiple different stages and settings, not to mention all the stages were beautifully decorated with awesome lighting and backgrounds. Lots of interaction and mingling between the artists and groups, which is always nice to see, and a lot of interaction between the MCs and the performers as well.
Best of all, it gave every artist a fair shake at showing off talents, all groups performed at least two of their hit songs, and the time alloted to each artist was very fair. Almost everyone had their songs shortened which is generally frowned upon but in this case it allowed more songs to be performed, so I liked their decision. MBC ought to get a high-five for drawing up some of the special stages – the BoA covers (Spazz: Yoona’s My Name was mind-boggling!), the band battles, the special dance/vocal collaborations (e.g. the YG segment rocked) were all nicely conceived. Although I paid special attention to SNSD’s awesome performances of their hit songs, I thoroughly enjoyed watching some of the other groups perform as well, almost everyone had a remix of some sort to their song, and MBC put in a lot of effort to make everyone look good, no biases for once!
Finally, YulTi looked beautiful all night, they even make the MC guy look better, I bet MBC wants them back so bad. And what else can I say about SNSD? They wrapped up the year in high style, this MBC Gayo Daejun finally did them justice as I thought SBS and KBS’s were just going through the motions. Overall, this years’ three Gayo Daejuns had a distinct flavor compare to last year’s, whereas last year all three had relatively similar format and stage set up, this year each network showed a little bit of uniqueness. Now it’s time to look forward to a great 2011.

fell so excited about it and cant wait for SNSD to come out….
but then my mother took over the tv and my area’s line has broke down that day…T.T

unfortunately when i open the tv, i saw Super junior is performing!! straight away i know i missed their shows AGAIN!!!!

Oh yea. I didn’t watch it streamed live, so these videos are all I have to come by.
RagingXL’s comment on how this year’s MBC Gayo Daejun was executed was perfectly documented, explaining in detail how all of the events that occurred in chronological order were done fantastically and gives us random commenters a perspective on how prestigious(?) events like these run on a whole new scale, undoubtedly compelling us to think more about our approach to similar and/or contrasting contemporaries (In this case, the SBS, KBS and MBC Gayo Daejuns’). Amidst other news, he does it without being predilected in any sort of way, so my view is pretty much like his.
Props to you, man. I can’t do stuff like that.
As for 2011 and SNSD, can’t say I’m really excited for 2011(Rabbit), though it is relatively ‘calmer’ than 2010(Tiger), but I’ll just have to wait and see how it goes. For SNSD? I don’t know.
I have a bad habit of over-analyzing, especially when I read other comments that I don’t wholeheartedly agree with. I’ve always been taught to substantiate every statement I make, so I try to do that and it’s led to these walls of texts. I’m a die hard SONE but I am also ultra rational, so I try my best to be unbiased about everything I say. But seriously, the Gayo Daejuns are highly anticipated events for me because of fond memories from last year, after the letdown of the KBS Gayo Daejun on the 30th I was pleasantly surprised by the MBC one. So it puzzled me why people didn’t enjoy it and I felt like I had to put down my 2 cents.
I have a feeling that SooYoung’s pterodactyl fan was there. LOL. xD
