Another year, another milestone achievement as SNSD achieves mammoth sales in Korea and Japan.
Hanteo, a Korean based record sales research site, recently revealed that SNSD has sold over 300,000 copies of their released albums in this year alone. This makes them the first idol group in over two years to achieve such a feat, the last being DBSK in 2008 with their album “Spell – Mirotic”.
To break it all down, the total numbers of their albums sold are as follows:
“Oh!” – 123,500 copies
“Hoot” – 93,400 copies
“Run Devil Run (Repackaged album of Oh!)” – 56,900 copies
“Tell Me Your Wish” and “Gee” – combined total of over 5,500 copies
But that’s not all. In Japan, having only debut in September, and with their singles “Genie” and “Gee” along with the multitude of Korean albums available for sale to the Japanese populace, SNSD has raked in over 12 billion WON (1 United States Dollar = 1,154.65 Korean Republic Won) in sales.
And there’s more! According to Japan’s Sankei Sport newspaper, KARA and SNSD were ranked first and second respectively, for album sales by new artists on “Oricon’s 43rd Annual Rankings, 2010”.
Well there you have it… Korean money should just have Soshi printed on them.
