And next up,we have their last comeback stage on SBS Inkigayo with Hoot and Mistake. The latter has been receiving much attention as Yuri wrote the lyrics.

cant wait for their performances!!!!! SNSD HWAITING!!!!
Omgggg
mistake!
i can’t wait for that performance 🙂
Kwon YURIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII “Mistake”………..
I just noticed that fans always shouted Kwon Yuri (hurray yurisistables !! ) in a specific part : the part where yulsic got to shoot an arrow together, part after sooyoung (this part is so seductive too) !
haha KWON YUL~
it’s part of the fanchant. Same goes for other girls and in other songs.
Did someone notice that enormous bug behind SeoHyun’s solo at Mistake? xD
omg. i was enjoying the song and then i saw that bug too and was busting out laughing…it ruined the moment… if the girls saw that they would of freaked like how they did at the G20 appearance they were at.
I’m sure they could get Sunny to kill the bug. 🙂
LOL for YonnA and Jessica performing on the spinning platform. YonnA probably went up there just for fun but i guess they put Jessica there to train her balancing ability XDD
Taeyeon’s singing is superb as always, and also Sunny’s voice is pretty amazing. She definitely has both the gift and the skills.
btw I’m so happy for Ga-in winning this week’s Inkigayo.
You can see SeoHyun and YonnA running to congratulate Ga-In at the end of the show + Taeyeon either wants to congratulate Ga-In or to went to fetch the two maknae.
OMG that SBS PD needs to be executed by firingsquad. Go through all the trouble to set up this pretty stage, had the girls dress up really pretty and sang absolutely amazing (as good as recorded, and Taeyeon belted me to the stratosphere), and only perform a shortened version? WTF was he thinking?? I’m really hating SBS right now for this totally wasted effort. Super disappointed at the production decision, it did not do the girls or this beautiful song any justice. Sadly I don’t know if MuCore or MuBank will plan on having them perform this song again, so this may be the one and only live “Mistake”.
There’s a BUG crawling on the curtain at 0:50 during Mistake. Freaked me out because I thought it was on my screen. lol
And poor Hyoyeon looks so bored 😦
Stupid spinning platform, kept laughing each time, and that sorta clashes with the song’s feel and effect. Also, I found that the echo applied to Taeyeon’s voice was unnecessary – but hey, might as well have tried it once, I mean experiment, try different things. Anyway, she did well. And every one else did well too, but Jessica…
And RagingXL, you, like, knock on wood or something, ’cause this can’t end up being the only live of this. The song deserves another (full) performance, the Nine deserve to perform it again and fully, and the world deserves and needs to have a more complete version of this song in performance.
Jessica… she keeps that up she’s gonna kill me. I can barely stand seeing and hearing her in ballad mode. It’s just too much.
And Sunny does great things in that little turnaround before the second verse of Hoot.
I hate to be pessimistic but I’m not going to hold my breath for a full performance of “Mistake”, non-title tracks have little priority on music shows after the comeback stages. If you remember, the last great SNSD ballad “Star Star Star” was performed only once on Music Core, fortunately that was a full song. The full version of “Dear. Mom” was also only performed once, on SBS Inkigayo. “Forever” was never performed on a music show, neither was “Complete”.
Ballad songs, especially if they aren’t promoted as the title track, don’t get any attention anymore, it’s a sad thing to see because they are best songs to showcase the artists’ voices and singing talent. Stupid Inkigayo producers rather fill their program up with THREE FULL 2NE1 dance songs for their comeback than to give the girls 4 minutes to sing a stunningly beautiful ballad. This kinda thing just makes me mad.
it doesn’t sound soshi when only one person doesn’t sing… i thought hyoyeon’s part was as interesting as yuri’s. TT
@RagingXL
Forever was once performed live but not on one of the 3 music shows…
it’s on Story Show Rock episode 23…
and they performed it wearing the Oh! outfit (Orange and white outfit)…
I know about that Forever performance. But without being on one of the three music shows, you’re missing the decorated stage, the outfits, and the camera work, so it’s just not the same. I’d like to point out that the performances on those two Story Show Rock episodes had horrendous camera work, but that’s a different story.
Praying to Soshi gods that MuCore will give the girls a full stage of Mistake in the next few weeks.
Thoroughly enjoyed both performances (shortened or not 😉 ) !!!!! Thanks for posting them, Zheming 🙂 ! I’ve saved ALL the various “Hoot” performances so far. Going to have a “Hoot” fest tonight 😉 !!!
@RagingXL
yeah…if only these variety show has the knack in stage decorating, etc…
then it would be fine with me…
Hoot and mistake is soooo good ^^ OMG ^^ so supa good ^^
Lucky bug… XD
Great performances..girls looked gorgeous as usual. Fucking stupid bias sbs! They gave 2ne1 sing 3 songs.but they only let snsd sing short version of mistake!! Wtf..nway tiffany voice not really good today, her voice sound tired during mistake..its just my opinion. M kind of worried, take cre fany~ah.. Dont want another cord nodule problem for you..snsd jjang
wow taeyeon’s voice is really good 🙂 and sunny’s too in ‘mistake’. while jessica.. err she can do better. i barely hear her voice. and and yuri wrote such a beautiful and poetic songs ;’)
congrats girls!
Hey, I really hate SBS now. 😡 Can’t beliieve that they actually shortened Mistake, effectively cutting out Hyo’s solo. wthwth I was looking forward to hearing Hyo sing this live because her voice has been improving alot recently. Damn friggin pissed now. And they gave 2ne1 3 full songs, bias much? Yeah but whatever, Soshi nailed it again. I like Sunny’s high note somewhere in Mistake! 🙂 Gonna be positive and start hoping Mistake will be performed live again – in FULL.
Wow MISTAKE just blew my mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! POSITIVE IT’S THE BEST THING I’VE SEEN IN MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!! SDVHSJGVWHJGBRJBEWJEWBF
Great performances.
They all looked so gorgeus during the mistake performance, even more than usual 🙂
Love it… they are so LOVABLE in that… hehehehe ^_^.. SNSD Fighting… They are so perfectly amazing…
thanks a lot to the post..
Totally jjang.
In “Mistake”, all the girls look like angels, they are beautiful.
In “Hoot”, the girls are hot as always. Especially, Fany unnie. 🙂
Urgh…I was hoping to hear the whole song for Mistkae.
I’m so bummedd that Hyo didn’t get to sing her part though.
She’s basically just stnading there. 😦
But Hoot was amazing as always.
Can’t wait for next weeks performances.
mistake is my second fav song from the album n i wanted to hear her sing because her voice is always best with soft ballads, so f’d up. i really hate this typ of crap because i’m worried about hoe she may feel. its like watching SGB and when her part came up they cut it off nd she looked happy because she though it was her turn.
any ways th girls all look pretty n seobaby really shined.
Mistake… loooooved it! Beautiful work with the lyrics, Yuri! Both performances were amazing and I thought the girls all looked happy and fresh. I like it when little ‘secret smiles’ pass between members, thats so damned cute! Well done, Girls!
I bet Seohyun’s husband was spazzing during the interview XDD
just like some of you guys here, i was annoyed by the fact that 2NE1 was given the chance to sing 3 full songs when everyone was anticipating for SNSD to sing “Mistake” in its entirety. however, the short version at least made up for it because the girls’ vocal were amazing as always. yuri showcased not only her songwriting talent here but also her vocal prowess and the ability to sing high notes just like taengoo. but nobody beats taengoo when it comes to adlib, her voice in “Mistake” is just mindblowing. the second performance for “Hoot,” was flawless…love the solo shot of tiffany.
aren’t they making a comeback on mnet?
SM has been boycotting Mnet since last year, I don’t know if you’ve heard! Which is the reason why all of SM artists aren’t allowed to perform there nor where they during the MAMA awards last year. Mnet are currently under negotiations with SM to have their talents be involve in the upcoming MAMA awards in Macau. They know how big of an audience draw it would be if they have SM talents on Mnet, but SM had accused Mnet of fixing votes and whatnot so SM decided to pull out their artists from appearing in their music program.
@RagingXL
Oh well, that’s life. I was really captivated by the singing abilities of all of the angelic ladies when they sung ‘Mistake’, hoping it was the full song until I saw the timer and got disappointed.
It kinda makes you wish there was someone with enough recognition and support from the commnunity to get up and take the initiative to negotiate with whoever runs these programs. By someone with enough recognition, I mean able to converse with well-known individuals and to serve as a bridge between the idols and the fans, because I don’t think that the large gap betweens fans and idols should exist, it becomes some sort of segregation or alienation practice in the long run, IMO.
thnks for the post
They shortened “Mistake” in a way that it still allowed 8 of the 9 girls to showcase their unique voices, so I am thankful for what we got but I feel bad for Hyoyeon still, she’s always the one being left out.
Music show producers in Korea have a lot of clout and they’re not easily manipulated, nobody knows what makes them tick, I dont think they listen to fans very much to be honest, especially not international fans like us. You can tell how much SBS care about international fans when they agreed to partner with Youtube a few weeks back to “clean house” of their broadcast content. If there’s anyone that can “negotiate” with them it’s the artists’ agencies, in this case SM Entertainment, they should’ve pushed for the girls to have time for two full songs. I still think MBC Music Core is probably the most Soshi friendly program, not only because YulTi was MC, but they also consistently set up the best special stages for the girls.
I wish some of these favoritism would just go away and the programs be fair, allowing all artists to show their best, regardless if they’re veterans like SNSD or a rookie group, and this would in turn allow the producers to produce the best program possible.
Haha, “pessimism,” “optimism,” whatever, just like as far as you’re superstitious, you know.
But part of the beauty of a thing is often in that it will never be quite as we want it – if we can’t have what we want, dramatize not having it so that it becomes significant. Hahaha. Like Byul Byul, maybe someday we’ll have another live of it, God willing we’d see it live, but probably not. But instead of remembering, we can imagine it. Tongue-in-cheek, you understand.
Like any fan of the underrated Girls would tell you, in some ways the best in the world often cannot but be missed by the many. Okay, I’ll stop that now.
You sorta can’t hear her, but I think they “let” Hyoyeon sing along to Sooyoung’s part – she is singing, anyway (and Sunny apparently doubles Yoong’s bit). Speaking of Yoong, that melancholy look she gives the camera (and the dropping of the eyes) are terribly effective. Subtle disappointment, how moving! But she sings on. They all sing on.
Too philosophical, lol, but I understand you completely. I am just a sucker for SNSD ballads, dance tunes will be dance tunes, you get tired of them sooner or later as time passes, plus dance songs are better watched than heard, but ballads are kind of timeless, as I’m still listening to ballads from their first album and the appeal doesn’t fade.
I do hope they get to sing “Mistake” again some day, each girl deserves to have a line in this song, no exceptions (I was kind of bummed Yoona didnt get a line in Star Star Star), but her acting skills were definitely on display in this performance, she utilized her eyes and emotions perfectly to the mood of the song. The other girls too, showed great emotion and eye contact with the camera that worked very effectively; Taeyeon was looking so sad and tired in the beginning when she wasn’t singing, then she “woke up” when her line came, and she woke all of us up with her high note.
The girls are exuding “super star” vibe these days, everything they do is extremely high quality, their work demonstrate effective execution and a clear sense of purpose, and they communicate very precisely how they want to portray the concept of each and every song they perform. Their popularity is definitely well-deserved and they have enormous talent to back it up.
I’m not really the type of person who really shows his deeprooted passion, love and appreciation for SNSD, plus, I suck when trying to express all of my knowledge into a single, summarised paragraph. Then again, as a fan, I knew them for only 7 months so you can’t really blame me when I’m busy with my photojournalism and other aspects of life.
Remember when this site said that KBS World TV decided to let fans from the international community give questions to SNSD and have them answered by the ladies personally via Twitter on Music Bank? Out of the many tweets, only one got chosen. Then again, we must factor in the variables that perhaps majority of the tweets were the same question and/or the rest was probably spam, and fact that the show/studio’s schedule was probably hectic and chock-full of events that day and had to come and go. Presumably, we can imply that while KBS, along with other studios, probably have hectic schedules like that day and had to rush the performances, I don’t blame them.
HOWEVER, not to sound one-sided, I am quoting this from a bystander’s perspective, I am quite disappointed that as a SONE, I do enjoy listening to all of their songs and dislike seeing them shortened. If it was for the good of intention because of the schedule, I won’t mind. However, if not, then well, screw ’em. But if they have the time to answer most of the questions on Twitter, that would just stall and waste time on the program, thus bringing up a free day without any interference into a hectic day that would just have been better off going according to plan and not rush it through the questions.
Why I am brining this issue up? Because in a way, we can relate to it and infer as to how these shows and their producers work, as a result, if we can’t really make a difference or a shoutout to those who are in charge, despite our stance for our favourite groups like SNSD, it’s best to just let it go and do something else.
I don’t think the problem lies with scheduling and the recording procedures per se. From what I understand they spend hours and hours to record these weekly shows that last 60-80min, each artist record their songs multiple times and they edit the heck out of them to get the best shots/angles. It would not have made much difference in terms of recording time whether SNSD sang the full or the shortened version of Mistake. And with KBS now adding the international Q&A segment, it doesn’t really add much recording time in the big picture either (since they generally only do the Q&A with 1st place candidates or artists with comeback stages, and they last maybe a minute each). Though I must say KBS is probably the only one that took a step to acknowledge the international fanbase, as their program is more international, with each artists are now presented in both Korean and English names as well as Korean and English title of their songs.
So it boils down to broadcast time (verses recording time). Broadcast time is MONEY, every 15-30 seconds during broadcast means 1-2 additional ad/CF they can squeeze in. So by cutting Mistake from 4+ minutes down to less than 3 means they have more time for ad revenue. It’s also possible that due to a large number of groups holding comeback and goodbye stages this past weekend, that broadcast time was a squeeze so they had to compromise by cutting something short.
