So after taking another stride in world domination, the 9 ring bearers girls decided to put up a stage, and hence their debut performance! Prepare tissues guys, because it will be sizzling hot under the sunlight. And the September typhoons can never come at a better time than this.

Maybe because most of them still aren’t used to singing Genie in Japanese. They might end up forgetting the lyrics or accidentally sing in Korean or something like that. ^_^

It’s good, but I think their pronunciation needs some work (for some of the members) – it doesn’t sound natural
I know they aren’t japanese and stuff, but like DBSK their language will improve
but I heard they weren’t going to promote in Japan extensively so I don’t know how their Japnanese is going to improve

hahah one thing i will have to get used to are the unsuspecting faces on the top corner of the vids LOL. i watched it twice; second time to see how their reactions to the performance will be like, and I realised it’s how Jap TV works o_o
i dont think you should use a word which can be a racial slur. especially, when snsd is being welcomed by “japan and japanese people.” i know you never meant it in a bad way or anything, though.

Yep. Very offensive to Japanese people (though native Japanese don’t seem to have as much of a problem with it as Japanese-Americans). It became a slur in the 1930’s, usually with the adjective “dirty”, especially when referring to American citizens suspect of their loyalty because of their ethnicity.
And yeah, Japanese talk and game shows especially tend to have a video with overlays of the guests faces to show their reactions. Sometimes I think it’s about as ubiquitous to those shows as a laugh track is to a sitcom here.

I love how they shut down the entire place for them for the performance. although i know the girls are capable of singing…i really did wish they did sing live and i would have love to see tiffany and taengoo improvised their solo parts. the second performance, i love how every mc is anticipating their performance. you can see how excited they are to see them live maybe because they don’t see something like that everyday from japanese idols. and the fan chants – can’t get any better than that! the mcs totally supported the girls’ first live performance.
btw: yoona and sooyoung’s mic both fell out of place, but being too professionals they covered it like its part of their performance 🙂
I understand why they are lipsynching. But hopefully, if they have more Japanese performances, they will sing live!

both outfits are good ..but i still prefer the marine..there are more differences in the marine outfiits than the circus ones

Although I was expecting live singing, there’s no point in complaining. They look stunning live and it felt like I was there. No need to blame the girls for lip-singing because the TV shows/ broadcasting/ or whoever is in charge probably wanted them to sing like this. Hopefully they will get to sing live one time in Japan. SOSHI fighting.

here’s the interview from DON after their performance…i didn’t wanna post the 1st interview from Tokudane because the cameramen are such perverts and focused too much on the girls’ legs. i think SNSD have found a better audience than other japanese ent. tv because the mcs all seemed very happy to see the girls. one lady even spoke a few korean words to the girls and told them how pretty they are. and i love the male mcs because they all seem to wanna shake hands with all of them, but are push in the sides 🙂

adlibs is the part (singing or dancing) in the song where they are able to improvise on. For example, when Taeyeon hits the high notes in Genie, Tiffany’s “DJ, put it back on”, the kissing move in Girls’ Generation.Or even Tiffany’s “Listen Jessi, my first love story” in Gee xD
