Wow! What an astonishing feat for our beloved nine – to have the number one song of the decade (2000-2009) with “GEE”, bestowed upon them by one of Korea’s most popular online music websites, MelOn. Their following single “Tell Me Your Wish (Genie)”, was also included on the list of top 100 songs of the decade, at number 42.

As K-pop during the 2000s was very influential and filled with smash hits from some of the genre’s hottest acts; SNSD’s claim to the title is made even more impressive by the fact that “GEE” was released towards the end of the decade in 2009. It quickly went on to convert the average person into a SONE, win nine consecutive Music Bank K-Chart awards, as well as win a multitude of end of year awards:

  • Cyworld Digital Music Awards : Song of the Month (January)
  • Cyworld Digital Music Awards :Bonsang Award
  • 19th Seoul Music Awards: Bonsang Award
  • 19th Seoul Music Awards: Digital Album Award
  • 19th Seoul Music Awards: Daesang Award
  • Gaon Chart: Digital Music Award (“Gee”)
  • 7th Korean Music Awards: Song of the Year
  • 2009 Melon Music Awards : Song Of The Year
  • 2009 Melon Music Awards : Odyssey[33]
  • 24th Golden Disk Awards: Digital Bonsang Award
  • 24th Golden Disk Awards: Digital Daesang Award

Congratulations on your SUPER achievement girls and here’s hoping that you have the top song of the next decade, and the decade after that, and the decade after…
