Following on from SBS and KBS, the last of the 3 major end year Music Shows, the MBC Music Festival, aired on New Year’s Eve, drawing a close to 2011. As SNSD were in Japan attending the Kōhaku Uta Gassen, their participation in the Music Festival was via pre-recorded performances of ‘Diamond‘ from SMTown’s 2011 Winter Album, ‘The Warmest Gift’ and ‘The Boys‘

As previously reported, the ladies of Shoujo Jidai/ Girl’s Generation were invited to perform at Japan’s prestigious New Year’s Eve music festival, the ‘Kōhaku Uta Gassen‘. The event took place last night/year :P, where Shoujo jidai performed their Japanese debut single, GENIE.
With ‘Kōhaku Uta Gassen’ literally meaning ‘Red and White Song battle‘, the format of the show obviously followed the format of a ‘Red Team VS White Team’ battle. Ladies were Red (akagumi), Gents were White (shirogumi) …. and the winner of the 62nd Kōhaku Uta Gassen was… *drumroll* THE RED TEAM! This was the first win for the Red team in 6 years… i’m sure Tiffany’s “Akagumi… Put it back on!!” helped. 🙂

Following on from the SBS Gayo Daejun, the 2011 KBS Music Festival was held last night and also featured many artists including SNSD. The girls performed ‘Festival‘ by Uhm Jung Hwa as well as ‘The Boys‘ with a special dance intro. Check out the performances under the cut~

Last night marked the 2011 SBS ‘Gayo Daejun’, the first of 3 big end year Music Festivals held annually by SBS, KBS and MBC. The festival was jammed packed with performances by various artists, including special collaborations that you would otherwise not see on regular music shows. SNSD‘s very own Yoona was one of the 3 hosts for the show while the other SNSD members participated in various other special performances ranging from a “Moves like Jagger” SuperGeneration collab to the epic SMTown Orchestra.

Last night at the ‘2011 MBC Entertainment Awards‘, SNSD‘s Yuri and Tiffany received the Special MC Award for their work hosting ‘Show! Music Core‘. The YulTi duo have been extremely popular since they first started back in April 2009. While the girls had to leave the program at the end of 2010 due to their heavy schedule, MBC didn’t seem to want to let go of them as they later returned as MCs in October this year. As the longest running MCs of ‘Show! Music Core’, Yuri and Tiffany are definitely deserving of this award. Congratulations girls!

On the most recent episode of ‘1 Night 2 Days‘, all rounded singer/actor/MC Lee Seung Gi approached the girls of SNSD on the set of ‘Music Bank’ for help on a special mission. SNSD‘s resident pranksters, Hyoyeon, Sooyoung, Yuri and Yoona responded to his ‘cry’ for help, eventually allowing him to successfully complete the task. Another week, another episode of IY2~ In this episode, the girls of G8 experiment with making kimchi. Sunny-hyung *cough* I mean Sunny-bunny, made use of the experience that she gained from the previous season to aid in the kimchi-making process. SMTown has just released the MV for ‘Santa U Are The One‘ off their latest winter album, ‘The Warmest Gift‘. The track was sung by Super Junior and Super Junior-M members, Henry & Zhoumi. While the ladies of SNSD did not directly participate in the filming, they are featured in the MV through various clips from the album photo-shoot.
