As previously reported, the ladies of Shoujo Jidai/ Girl’s Generation were invited to perform at Japan’s prestigious New Year’s Eve music festival, the ‘Kōhaku Uta Gassen‘. The event took place last night/year :P, where Shoujo jidai performed their Japanese debut single, GENIE.
With ‘Kōhaku Uta Gassen’ literally meaning ‘Red and White Song battle‘, the format of the show obviously followed the format of a ‘Red Team VS White Team’ battle. Ladies were Red (akagumi), Gents were White (shirogumi) …. and the winner of the 62nd Kōhaku Uta Gassen was… *drumroll* THE RED TEAM! This was the first win for the Red team in 6 years… i’m sure Tiffany’s “Akagumi… Put it back on!!” helped. 🙂
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The remix version bursting randomly in at the end. XD
Yeah, it definitely had to be Tiffany’s “Akagumi… Put it back on!!” that clinched for the Red team this year 😆 !!!
Anyways, it’s always refreshing to see the original “Genie” performed “live” as it reminds us again why we fell in love with the angelic 9 ladies in the first place 😀 !
Cheers !
Kenneth.
love the remix at the end of the song! ^^
SNSD, fighting! ^^
Tiffany’s “Akagumi, put it back on!” was DEFINITELY a help! 😀 She’s so cute~!! ^^
love !??
The girls overcame the pressure (and not to mention tiredness and sickness) of performing at the most prestigious event in their career and deliver a sharp and strong performance of an SNSD classic by now, it was very refreshing to see after not having seen Genie for such a long time. Being able to perform at the Kouhaku is more meaningful than winning many many awards as it is a recognition of the singer’s status in the Japan music industry, something no sales records or concert attendance can replace. And to top it off, their strong presence in Japan this year helped the Red Team win for the first time in seven years. Congratulations SNSD and SONEs, this moment here, to me, is the paramount of SNSD’s career so far, let’s hope they go on to accomplish even bigger goals in 2012!
LOL. been a while since i’ve posted here.
update: SNSD’s time slot drew in 39.9% viewership ratings. 3rd highest performance for akagumi team (red/female team), the 2 highest being from japanese female soloist. so that means SNSD’s viewership is the highest among girl groups…even beating akb’s time slot. CONGRATS girls.
haha its nice to see you back. 🙂 Thats amazing! thanks for the info
