update: saw the comeback show..they’ve won me over, the song is energetic and fierce live
update 2: sat down after the show and listened to this part by part (repeated each part). It’s..actually very well put together. It encompasses a lot of different genre’s that soshi has tried to tackle over the years with some having more precedence over others, a lot of the things that Soshi do best are nestled in here. The thing is that I feel the thing that has improved 10,000 fold is their choreography and dance. Not to say that they were weak before..But they hit with so much precision now, hip-hop really does bring some much needed elements to a strong dancer.
Original thought: I’m not sure…it sounds like they crammed 6 songs into one. There are some parts that are really good. and there are some parts I want to cut out. Costumes are great, choreography is really good.
Sunny’s hair makes me want to puke though, BRING BACK THE LONG HAIR AASDHGASJHFDGAKF.

The song is sucks, it looks like some songs put into one. However if you felt the way I felt, it would be better to listen without the MV. The MV is kinda distracting because of the change of clothes and so on.
It’s quite good after listening to the MP3 only.
They’re still the best. They have topped the chart. 🙂
EXACTLY what I thought! It may be the worst song I’ve heard by them and the video was distarcting – it really doesn’t sound good.

I agree, the video choreography is visually interesting and a complete deviation from what they usually do. This song however is really disjointed and jarring, I think someone totally dropped the ball on choosing this song to promote.
I like Sunny’s hair. It’s bright and colorful, it fits because it’s different. I would have left out the part with the orange wigs. I thought they were two different songs from the teasers. Overall though, I love it!!

Yep. Definitely agree with that “6 songs crammed into 1” comment. Though personally I think it’s only 4. First is the intro.. Second is the chorus part we got a taste of in the dance teaser.. Third is the rapping part in the middle.. And the fourth one is the bridge with fany as the opener. It just feels like it’s not one song at all which can be jarring.
On the flip side.. I Loooove the visuals! I think the choreography is spot on and the individual screentimes for each member is great:D I really dig the fact that they gave Hyo more screentime this time around. She definitely deserves the much needed spotlight.
I need to buy a new, banging headphone so i can explore and find the many diversity of the music, instruments, beats, and vocals in this song! I hear a LOT of awesome stuffs in this song and i want to listen to all of them better. It’s going to be an awesome adventure for my ears, lol i call it a HOT MESS.. It’s like listening to Bohemian Rhapsody, and it’s one of the best/most famous song of all time. I think i like this kind of songs, rhapsodies. It’s so epic and my adventurous ears will love it!
Besides, it’s something new for the girls to try and as a SONE, it’s my duty and obligation to support them all the way.

You guys need to learn a little bit of composition to understand this song, I think. It is one single song sung in 4 parts, where the 4th is a blend of all the first three parts.
Listen a little closer and you’ll hear the motif repetition. The rap in the beginning probably only makes sense if you consider that the lyrics at the end of the song match/complement those in the rap.
A very bold way to switch concepts, especially with all the hip hop moves done proper.

Totally agree. I also can’t get to this song at first. But after listening it over and over and watch their Romantic Fantasy comeback, now I start to understand the structure. Now I’m dare to say: This song may not be their greatest, but it’s really cool!
I was expecting something better, the visuals are OK but the song is… worst than The Boys

I’ve been waiting for this song since freaking Twinkle came out at the beginning of 2012. Seriously? That was shit. They shouldn’t have ditched their whole “high heel” and poppy song concepts because it actually worked. Now they are just like every other kpop girl group – average songs with pretty faces, except maybe richer and more popular.

It does seem like a few of songs crammed into one, which seemed messy to me at first, but after a few listens, it doesn't seem so messy after all. The second half, especially, seems a lot more cohesive and flowing, and returns to the beat of one of the earlier sections, which stops it from appearing as random and disjointed.
It's certainly very different from what they've done before, in almost every way, and I actually think it's quite clever. Putting several different themes into one song means it's more likely that at least some of it will appeal to different tastes. Personally, I'm not that fond of the rapping and some of the choreography is a bit odd to me (impressive, nevertheless), but the second half of the video appeals to me a lot more. The vocal harmony combined with the beat is very good to listen to. And I like the intro. Who knew Yoona made such a sound when you prod her? ^_^
Overall, I do like what they've done here, even despite the coloured lenses, Sunny's hair, the wigs, the wacky outfits and the rapping. It's the ingeniousness and the effort put into it, along with the fact that the girls look like they're having plenty of fun, which I really like. What I do notice, is each and every one of the girls DEFINITELY get fair shares of the limelight, which many often complain about. Perhaps it helps that the song is slightly longer than what the girls usually do.
It doesn't make me want to dance or bob my head, though, like many of their previous hits: Genie, Mr. Taxi and Twinkle, to name a few. Maybe I'm just analysing it too closely, right now. We'll see.
I think the thing that surprised me the most was that I failed to realise from the teaser that it was Sooyoung, and not Fany, who did the "AYO, GG!!" bit. Is this another of Sooyoung's famous impressions?!
Well, that's my review for you.

this is the most powerful dance that i’ve ever seen since the girls debut, even more powerful than “Bad Girl” (which i think is the powerful one until now),even black soshi (RDR concept), and “Paparazzi” (Which the girls say is the most fast and difficult coreo) still can’t beat this new one..
love their new concept, with 2 different feeling of genre music give more attention to us about their ability, it’s so powerful, i still shock, usually the girls never ever have a dance move like that, maybe it’s a surprise which the girls talk about before, their fashion remember me with their dongsaeng in the same company f(x), f(x) used to wear costume like that a lot, and now the girls wear it, and that’s absolutely stunning..
i’m speechless about their new song, concept, and everything, and what i’m want to say now, i’m REALLY-REALLY SHOCK (in a good term of course)..
have you hear another song of their new album, i just hear it after buy a whole album from iTunes, i suggest you to hear “Promise”,”Lost In Love”,and “Romantic Street”. That’s all Ballad and Mellow song, because i really that genre of music, but once you hear that, i guarantee you want to hear that’s song over and over again…

In terms of the song, I thought it was disappointing
The different sounds just seem too disjointed to me. However I do like the choreography and the costumes, especially the ones at the beginning of the video.
I admire them for going in a completely different direction (it’s a world way from ‘Gee’) and I hope it works out well, which according to the music charts, it already has 😉

Prefer listening to Romantic St. and XYZ to this one. Romantic St. composition is just great. And if ya needed a little bit of beat then XYZ is the song, not this one.

Not all songs have to follow the same formula and I love that SNSD is starting out the new year with something so different and it rocks! GLAM has also come out with a similar style of song and it’s just as awesome. I can see this style of mashup songs as a new trend in kpop!
