BIG BIG NEWS! Coming October 19th, our girls will officially release their upcoming album that many of us have been impatiently waiting for. Not only will their album songs be released on iTunes worldwide on this day, but their full music video of “The Boys” will also be revealed via SM’s official YouTube channel and facebook page.
Because all of this is happening on October 19th, October 19th has been dubbed ‘Girls’ Generation Day’.
But the big news does not stop here. According to Newsen, our girls have signed a contact with Universal Music Group in the U.S. and it’s planned that our girls will be releasing a maxi single, “The Boys”, in November under UMG’s label, Interscope Records (whose artists include Lady Gaga, Pussycat Dolls, Eminem, and Black Eyed Peas). Their maxi single will be released worldwide, including in South America and Europe as well.
So who’s excited for ‘Girls’ Generation Day’? They’re scheduled to make their first comeback stage on the 21st on Music Bank so let’s hope the 21st doesn’t seem too far away.

partnering with Universal probably means that it’s going to be released in local stores and be promoted….at least hopefully that’s true…

yay! our girls are on their way towards world domination! though I’m not sure if just dropping the maxi single in the states in November will work…hopefully this means that they’ll be promoting actively and coming out on shows and such without losing their grip in Asia…. but I’m sure that they’ll be slowly but surely making their mark here! and we sones need to help them out by making sure they get known by creating waves on iTunes and youtube and giving them more exposure! let’s do this, soshi and sones!! ^^

It certainly is impressive that the Girls are signed with Interscope. In this internet age where one can find new music from a myriad of sources (both legal and illegal), the value of a huge label behind you is a stamp of approval that this is something of quality that you should check out, not to mention Interscope’s marketing and distribution strengths.
I wish we will all lessen this talk of a “U.S.” album, because it is clearly much more than that. This is a Global English-language release, and English travels very well, especially in parts of SE Asia, South Asia, Mideast, Northern Europe, and the Americas. Sure, if the song catches on in the U.S. or the U.K., that could have huge amplification effects on the rest of the world. But even if it fails to catch on here, there are certainly other places where the English album could do very well, making the minor effort of recording an English song or two a profitable success.
And for all of you who demand a SNSD concert in your country, certainly making their maxi-single a hit in your country will be all the hard proof SME needs to accommodate your wishes. Now let’s do what we can to make SNSD’s English song hit the front page of Youtube.

whoa! this is really big! I just hope that even if the girls will be promoting in the U.S. or somewhere not in korea, there will still be many sones who will take and upload videos, pictures, posts, and updates about them. 😀 but first i wish that the girls’ new album will be a success worldwide!
