One day into their new Japanese album release and our girls have already achieved another first.
The 1st of June 2011 marks the release of the 9 ladies’ first full Japanese album into the music scene. The self-titled album Girls Generation has been receiving overwhelming responses, officially receiving 1st position on the Oricon Daily Album chart earlier today.
The girls were up against Japanese rock band UVERworld and Japanese group J Soul Brothers, but they still managed to clinch the top spot with album sales of more than 70,000.
This feat earned the 9 ladies praise from the Korean media vis-a-vis the impressive sales figures in so short a time frame.
In addition,Girls’ Generation has also successfully completed the first concert of their Japanese Arena tour in Osaka yesterday.
Well, it certainly looks like our 9 angels are off to a great start for the next phase in their plan for world domination 😀 ! SNSD HWAITING !!!

The album is more expensive than most albums. And it was only announced 2 weeks ago, meaning less time for pre-orders. Yet … 73K sales.

some of us sones were screening the oricon chart last night. midday already recorded 10,222 units sold which is VERY HIGH considering this doesn’t count online and over all store sales for the first day :). we were all holding our breaths for this last night and it really makes you ecstatic that they sold THAT much for the first day despite knowing that japan’s is not so economically good right now, and albums usually don’t sell as much as singles do. and competitions are TOUGH, UVERWORLD, J Soul Brothers (EXILE’s subunit) are all BIG names in the japanese music scene so this is a MIGHTY achievement for SNSD’s very first japanese album release. i wouldn’t be surprise if the girls reach 100k by the second selling day and it seems that maybe 200k for weekly can be possible? wishful thinking, yes but i can dream right :)?!
btw: i think the girls have broken a record for first day album sales for a non-japanese girl group :). first day sales like this is VERY high despite the fact that the album was only announced 2 weeks ago and it already sold out on major stores in japan and japanese websites too!
