then again… who doesn’t? 🙂
SNSD and KARA were ranked among the top 10 of ‘Artists who shine in the year 2010’ in a Japanese online survey conducted on Asahi TV’s ‘Music Station’ from 3rd December to the 24th.
Rookie groups SNSD and KARA placed 9th (Forever 9 much? :)) and 6th respectively alongside popular Japanese artists such as AKB48, Perfume and Arashi.
This year, SNSD’s Japanese singles ‘Genie‘ and ‘Gee‘ have both surpassed sales of 100,000 copies and recorded a total revenue of 880 million yen from all the singles and album sales in Japan this year. Besides that, SNSD’s 2nd Japanese Single ‘Gee‘ was also awarded the Best Single Award at the ‘2010 BIGLOBE Music Award‘ and ranked no.2 on ‘The 43rd Oricon Annual Ranking 2010‘ newcomers’ sales category.
Now considering the minimal Japanese promotion that SNSD has done, and that only one member (Sooyoung) is completely fluent in Japanese, the very fact that they were included in the top 10 is a massive achievement in itself! Can you imagine the results if the girls spent more time promoting in Japan or actually release a NEW Japanese album? (Not just Japanese versions of their past Korean hits mind you…) ^_^
(SNSD and KARA are like family IMO, so the success of KARA in Japan comes as awesome news too 🙂 ) SoKa FTW!~
*Update: Hoot (JPN) has sold more than 50,000 copies to date… and counting 🙂 Also… Hoot (JPN) is #5 on Oricon Daily Album Chart. Gee & Genie (JPN) are #5 & #16 respectively on Oricon Daily Singles Chart while the DVD is #7 on Daily Music DVD Chart

Nice thank u 🙂
IMAGINE if SNSD did what KARA did in Japan in terms of promotions… appearing almost everywhere in Japan TV shows, HAND SHAKE Fan singing events, mini-live concert on some street in Shibuya, etc. etc. Could you just imagine the sales of their singles!? HAHA!! But then SM/UMJ has a different strategy in promoting our girls… they’re like promoting them as GODDESSES that is hard to reach and you can just admire them from a distance. They are not promoting them as ‘Idols you can meet’ but I really hope next year they’ll do a full blast promotion for a new JAPANESE album. 😉
when they cant conquer number 1 and 3,saw them ranked 9th is already awesome.
They are wonderful also on the top 10 list…
SNSD,fighting!
I love me a little SoKa too.
Congratulations to both Kara and our beautiful soshi girls.
I believe that the successful debut they’ve had so far in Japan just shows their potential and that they will have awesome success in the future when they start releasing original japanese songs and promoting more.
Ah yes, SNSD is certainly being promoted as idols that you can’t reach in Japan. Not that it’s a bad thing. It increases the hype about them and mystifies these nine girls. But i certainly hope that they can release a full length Japanese album with real Japanese songs, not just remakes.
That will totally be awesome. Besides, some of the members are getting quite good at the language. Maknae and Tiffany is improving by leaps and bounds! I just hope that SM can perhaps give the girls a little bit of rest and at the same time brush up their language skills. Look what one month did for Tiffany!! 🙂 2011 is gonna be a SNSD-Rocks-Japan year!
congratulation to the Girls and To kara… they surely are one of the elite heheheh… a newcomer and a foreign for Japan… that’s good to hear.. SNSD FIGHTING,,, KARA FIGHTING ^_^… LOve It,,,, Go Go GO SOSHI…
This is so AWESOME 😀 😀 😀 !!!! SoKa FTW indeed !!!
I love SoKa. ♥
Man they BARELY promoted but are so loved by Jap fans! SNSD fighting! And Kara tooo! SoKa line is <333
Slow but steady (and to think that its serendipitous they landed in no. 9)…
btw: i saw this japanese show where they analyze SNSD and akb48’s characteristics. the second they showed the clip to “Gee” let me tell, the panelists are a group of older japanese people (which usually make it a little harder for any reactions) their faces light up and won’t stuff saying “KAWAII.” they even said that “Gee” first week sale beat akb48’s 2 singles of the year in terms of week sales. and they concluded that although they haven’t reach the sales that their japanese rival has any time soon…their career in japan will be a long and influential one.”
