From Dec 7th to 9th, Star News conducted surveys (Artist of the year, Song of the year, Best male artist, Best female artist, Best rookie and Hottest issue of the year) among variety show’s producers, and summed up the result on Dec 10th. Total of 22 music shows and variety shows producers (PDs) from MBC, KBS, and SBS participated in this survey.
The producers picked Girls’ Generation (So Nyuh Shi Dae) as “Best Female Artist of the Year” with 11 votes. The girls’ hit song, Gee, also chosen as “Best Song of the Year” with 7 votes. SNSD also came in 2nd place for “Artis of the Year” category with 5 votes, losing to beastly idols 2PM who got 9 votes.

Wait wut? 2PM artist of the year!? I mean don’t get me wrong they had a really big year but looking at it justly, they didn’t even have a song in the top 15 sales digitally, SNSD had the #1 song plus another in the top 10. Their album did squeak into the top 10 but SNSD had 2 single albums in the top 5 (which is amazing) and #2 total album sales behind only Seo Tai-ji. In airplay ratings 2PM had 3 songs in the top 25 but SNSD had Gee which was #1 and Genie which was #2 for the year in that category.
No Davichi for female artist? Plus what the hell, BEG have been around for years. Even if you go by their style change to electronica, that was last year. Who were the geniuses that picked them and 2PM for rookies. lol

Oh and I think the song missing is “Boohwal – Thought” and the missing hot issue is H1N1.
I know right? I love 2PM, I really do, but this is rather odd.
Yes, wasn’t it obvious enough that SNSD’s 2 songs are bigger than 2PM’s 3 songs? Oh well, it stated on the article that 2PM “went through hurtful situation when their leader leaves. However, even after 2PM reformed themselves with 6 members, they’ve shown their manly charms through ‘heart beat’; grabbing hearts of teenagers to Nuna fans.” and “2PM ruled the stage with their strong performance. Based on this, their 3 songs made a hit in a row this year” hence they’re Artist of the Year.
I think DaVichi should be on the list too. Wasn’t ‘8282’ a pretty big hit too? LOL and I thought those PDs would know better about which group are rookies or not =P

i dont mind if 2pm wins artist of the year for star news. i personally think most artists (especially those who are active this year) re deserving of this award. snsd, 2pm, suju, 2ne1, 4minute, etc- c’mon, they all worked their butts this year, so whoever gets awarded, it’s merely a plus.
im so happy that snsd got the daesang for “gee”. well-deserved. lol at the last picture, seriously, what were they doing? maybe they were all nervous and just cheering one another..haha. SNSD <333
