The group of SNSD turns 2! Seems like yesterday when Girls Go to School first came out and the fans were just starting to get to know the girls. It’s amazing how much a group can grow, develop, and mature each and everyday, whether it be in their singing or their personalities, all for the better of course.
Debuting with ITNW with their white mini skirts (probably my most favorite attire was the skirt and dress shirt w/ a tie), then switching it up for Girls Generation with their oversized sweaters embellished with their names, moving onto to the cutesy song Kissing You with the lollipops (which Taengoo had that infamous accident of her lolli flying away). After the lollipops, in came Baby Baby, the pop song that Tiffany favored most off of their first album. After a long 9 months, with fans still standing by, the girls made their amazing comeback with the catchy song Gee, winning the Music Bank award 9 weeks straight. The hit song stirred up many parodies and started a fashion trend of colorful, skinny jeans. Talk about the influence these girls have on Korea. And as of now, they’re promoting the much more sexy concept song, Tell Me Your Wish (Genie). Each single has helped show the fans a different side to the girls, whether it be in concept or their voices. Some might have started off a tad weak in ITNW but over time, we see much more stronger vocals coming out and they’re still improving each day. Now that’s a group dedicated to their work.
Even though being in the entertainment industry is tough, SNSD seems to never fail to crack a smile for the fans, on or off stage. That’s what makes them so great, they aren’t afraid to show their true sides and act silly for the camera. Not only that, but the bond they have with each other is amazing to see too. 9 siblings as they would call each other. With a relationship like this…i can see snsd going a long way for years to come.
All the fans wish you ladies a happy second anniversary and we hope for even bigger, better anniversaries to come! Please don’t overwork yourselves and try to get some sleep like Jess 😛 We stand by you no matter how rough the road gets and we look forward to all your future projects!

My friend introduced me the ‘Gee’ MV.
Watched it and didn’t like it at first.
But somehow,someday.
I just get into them.
I have seriously no idea why.
Perhaps i’m too bored and was reminded of SNSD.
Thus searching on them and then started to like them.
Tiffany was the first to catch my attention.
Her eye-smile is just so so so heart-melting.
2. Current favorite member and why.
Still remained faithful to my first favourite member fany fany tiffany!
Well i don’t really like her hair style now for Genie.
But still,when i recall about fany during ‘Baby baby’/’Gee’ era,she looks just what i really like.
Even though i’m a late fan and started only during this year,couple of months back.

Well the girls have sure matured.
They looks more mature,they behave more mature,more lady-like and all.

Hmm.
I think it would be the number of members in the group.
And all of them are actually beautiful!
Not to mention that they each have different personalities and talents.
The group wouldn’t be perfect without anyone of them.
They really do care for each other and shows to us what does it means to be in a group.
Because of all these,SNSD definitely have my support all the way.
SNSD is like,the first ever band that i really goes deep into.

1. How did you come across SNSD? First reaction? What member caught your attention first?
— Maria showed them to me since I liked MM, she figured that it would be right up my alley. And was she ever right. The crack took a good stranglehold on my listening rotation of music (and opened up my liking to K-Pop). I loved the songs, they were all catchy. Sunny got my attention quickly, that smile melts my heart every time.
2. Current favorite member and why.
— Sunny, she can do no wrong. And she lights up the room.

— Evolved, yes. There’s no spotlight hogging for members who are more popular. Even after 2 years, its all evenly spaced out.
What would I like more of? I hope that they don’t go down the slutty route. Just keep the fine line in between cute and drop dead sexy.

— They are down to earth, no egos (well nothing outlandish). I’m sure if you were able to meet them on the street, they would treat you as an equal and give you a piece of their time.

Sometime after their debut, 2 months i think. Juz watched ITNW on youtube. i actly thought 9 girls was abit too many so i ignored them in the 1st place. But i clearly remember Yuri caught my attention, i lyked her since then but was so into BoA i 4got bout them.
Initially i only lyked TaeYeon cus of her vocals, as i browse thru soshified n looked into them more, i started to like them.
2. Current favorite member and why.
Love all 9 but SeoHyun the most. Nice and stable vocals, when was the last time u heard/see her screwing up her part anw. Lack tat part in emotions but heck she’s still so young.

I only became a fan when i heard TaeYeon’s Can You Hear Me around last year’s October. But as i looked back into their previous perfs n shows, i think they can now handle the media way better than b4.
I do hope they continue to be the role models of all girls.
And continue chasing their dreams 1 step at a time. Of course anything about them is juz great.
4. Why does this girl group stand out for you? What makes them different?
Having lyk 9 girls in 1 group is really alot, this alone lets then stands out. Also their damn co-ordinated dances, to me they r the best dancing girl group in Korea. (Honestly, other girl groups simply dun have the vibrancy snsd has when they r dancing.

It would be nice to see them last for many years to come, along with SuJu they can show every1 tat nt all big groups would disband. Yea n now that u mentioned it, it was lyk yesterday when i watched GGTS. And Honestly, i sort of miss the old SNSD, b4 Gee i min.

1. How did you come across SNSD? First reaction? What member caught your attention first?
I came across with SNSD last year actually, when I was looking in a website I saw someone posted the video for Gee so I looked up in Youtube and I was instantly hooked, I first thought there was twenty of them but then I was relieved when I figured they are only nine members (which is a lot of members still but nine is good :D). The member that caught my attention first was Jessica in the intro part of Gee, I thought she looked very cute and feminine, plus I was surprised by how good her english sounded 🙂
2. Current favorite member and why.
Although I like all members and I change of favorites very quickly, SooYoung is my current fav, many people dislike her new haircut but I absolutely love it and I think it fits her well, also I love her style and personality, especially when she mentions her “ajushi!!!!” haha!!
3. How do you think snsd has evolved over the years? What do you want to see more from snsd in the future?
I think SNSD has grown to be one of the world’s greatest performers, all the girls have become beautiful women and in the future I’d like them to continue to entertain people (like myself) and creating those catchy songs that we love.

For me they stand out from all the current music groups because they are always together and never apart they are united. For me personally as a girl are very good role models and seem as though they could be my best friends if I met them in real life, they make you want you to be part of their girl’s generation. They are very caring towards their fans, and have handled the media very carefully.

1. I came across SNSD on youtube when their song ITNW was used in an amv. i fell in love with the song and did research on the group and came across videos and blogs and other such. of course, i eventually came across this blog and got even more into the girls and became an official fan. my first reaction was that I couldn’t believe there were so many girls in one group. but now it seems like it’s necessary and it makes the group all the more lovable. the member that struck me the most was Taengoo because of her amazing vocals and they still amaze me even now.
2. my current favorite member is seobaby. i find that im able to connect with her a lot because we’re both considered the innocent babies of our group of friends. i think she’s really amazing because she works so hard in spite that she’s the youngest and probably most ordinary member.
3. I think the girls have grown up so much over the years but they still hold onto some of their innocence and cuteness. they certainly have gotten closer to each other like a family. I hope they just continue to progress in the future and always stay true to themselves.
4. SNSD stands out to me because they give me such a pure vibe. they’re so close to each other almost like they’ve been together their whole lives. their concepts and music are also very addicting because of the freshness.

I first came across SNSD by watching this little video that had Kissing you as their background music. After that, i went searching for the song and then ran into their Girl Generation MV and wow, i was surprise that they had 9 members and they were all so pretty! And I love their oversize sweater with their name on it.

My current favorite member is Jessica because she is just plain awesome. HAHA I love her Sica Effect because I find it just adorable and she has her own special aura? that draws people towards her. Also, she is Gorjess and her voice is so unique! Like if i listen to a SNSD song, i can pick out Jessica’s Voice right away! AND! why not love Jessica? x]

I believe that SNSD will grow every single year and get better and better. LIke how they debutted as High School girls, and they mature over the time into Young Ladies. What i want to see more from SNSD is that their members won’t seem tired or dead beat anymore. Even though i love that they are active right now, they still need to take care of their health.

Well first of all, this girl group have 9 different members. Each members have their own special personalities but when we put them together, its like gold.
Also, in most girl group, the members are just members but in SNSD, they are not just members, they are best friends and they care for one another very much.

i came across snsd looking up BoA in yt back in 2007. i liked ITNW, but seeing as how it was pretty much the only thing they had, i wasn’t too impressed. sica caught my attention with her ad libs =p

it’s a tie between SooRi, cuz both of them are just so awesome. they’re both funny as hell, pretty, and can dance and sing well.

when they first debuted, i thought they were all about lip syncing and dancing. when they first sang, i thought they were pretty good. a LOT better than anyone from america or japan. but nowadays, they’re constantly hitting the mark, always on top of things.

after hearing about them during gee and going back through their music, i thought they had some really good stuff. They can sing, they dance in sync, they’re all beautiful, they’re mostly natural, they have everything. Back then, i only saw Kara and WG as competition, but neither of those two groups really had much. Kara members cant really dance, and WG members are all fakes with no talents (well… sorry im not meaning to bash im just accentuating SNSD ^^)

1. How did you come across SNSD? First reaction? What member caught your attention first?
I was watching Super Junior’s “U” MV on youtube. I noticed the pretty girl in the MV, and I read the comments to see if anybody mentioned anything about her. Many were saying that she’s Yoona of SNSD. (This was sometimes in late 2007, when I just got into K-pop and Suju). At first I didn’t care much, I was kinda believing all the sh*t that antis were saying about them. Then I decided to do my own research on SNSD. What I found, was an amazing group of girls, who makes mistakes, yet imperfection is their beauty. I’m glad I became a fan of SNSD!!!!

Yoona is my fave! Probably, bcuz she has always intrigued me.^^

I think they’ve owned up to their mistakes and are + continuing to mature. I just wanna see SNSD make more music, continue selling 100,000K+ albums and blow all the haters away!!!

I happened upon a YouTube video of “Jessica speaking English” and was intrigued when I learned there were 2 Americans in the group. So I decided to watch a YouTube video of one of their performances (ITNW) — and was quickly and totally hooked.
2. Current favorite member and why.
Whoever I’m looking at at that moment. I might classify each differently: SeoHyun is the great beauty, Yuri the sexy one, Sunny the cute one, Yoona the pretty one, TaeYeon the best singer, HyoYeon the skilled dancer, Jessica the serious but glamorous one, SooYoung my cousin, Tiffany the wild one. But no one is a favorite.
3. How do you think snsd has evolved over the years?
Two years is hardly time to evolve but I will give credit to SM for maintaining the group’s standards in music and performance over these 2 brief years. They seem to know what they’re doing. I hope they can keep it up.
4. Why does this girl group stand out for you? What makes them different?
This group has (a) good music behind it, (b) enuf talent to exploit it, and (c) enuf personality and prettiness to win over those who are too shallow to care about the music.

The girls and the people behind them need to be thanked. And they need as much financial support as we can afford to give them. The time and effort that we see and hear when we enjoy their performances didn’t come free to them. If they can’t afford to continue, they won’t.

This is how I found out about SNSD and then K-pop in general. Who’d a thunk that a blog from a ballet dancer would be the source? “Gee” is extremely catchy and I’ve been hooked since then.

Don Jess – She’s a great singer and a great dancer with a lot of versatility. Of course her recent collaboration on NaengMyun is helping a lot. 😉

Ever since they’ve started, their performances have been professional and polished. Their expanding range of styles and their all around improved singing skills have been pleasant to see. In the future, I want to see dancing closer to ITNW.

Their professionalism and improved singing ability of all members have stood out. What’s amazing that they are nine different personalities but they all work so well together.

thanks for these awesome anniversary posts! it’s great going down memory lane with SNSD. the first time i saw them was the MKMF dance battle and i was turned off completely by their cutesiness. but one day, i decided to watch Seungri and Yoona’s Manwon Happiness and these 9 freakin adorable girls just won me over. Yoona, Taeyeon and Tiffany really caught my eye in particular. then i watched Girls Go to School and fell in love with their hilarity, dorkiness, and total dedication to their work. Many, many videos, pictures, articles, and performances later, they’ve all found a place in my heart. they each have their special charm [but Maknae is my eternal favorite teehee]. just goes to show you, can’t judge a book by its cover lol
they really have gone through so much. it’s been 2 years of hard work and they’ve totally succeeded in climbing to the top of the korean music industry. i’m so proud of them. i’ve never been a truly devoted fan to any musician but SNSD has proven to be the exception. they not only wow me with their musical abilities but with their warm hearts and genuine personalities. here’s to 2 amazing years and many to come!!
in honor of SNSD’s anniversary, i must share this story…
my brother’s girlfriend and i were talking about some korean groups we liked earlier today. she said, and i quote: “girls’ generation totally cannot sing.” and i literally gasped. when i was in range of a computer, i bombarded her with tons of evidence. i think taeng and seobaby’s “because you loved me” really nailed it. she was really taken aback…and proven wrong. owned. SNSD ftw!!!

1. How did you come across SNSD? First reaction? What member caught your attention first?
It all started about 2 weeks ago in IRC (Internet Relay Chat) when someone posted a Youtube link to the dancing, white only version of ‘Gee’ to reverse the mood created by a previous link. I checked out that link, along with several others, and had a good laugh. It was all so cute, both the music and choreography, that I couldn’t help but be amused. It was so amusing that I watched it again… And again… And again, until I realised that I was addicted.
None of the girls were attractive to me when I started out(but wait, it gets better, I promise). But on my second day of watching some of their videos, one of them started to look rather appealing in my eyes. Then more of the girls followed in subsequent days. I’m still not the full way there, but it might just be a matter of time.
Member that caught my attention first? Why, it was Jessica, of course.
2. Current favorite member and why.
Started off as being and still is (less than 2 weeks later) Jessica. She has a unique look, I think, that sets her aside from the rest. With the exception of Hyo, the rest of the group all have rather cute facial features (most of the time). She has a cool and sleek allure that I just adore. Also, the day after listening to SNSD for the first time ever, I saw a poster with Jessica on it (advertising some makeup I think) in the city. I didn’t realise it was her until I found it in Google Images. I was rather taken aback when I put two and two together (both because it was Jessica on the poster and picture, and because I made the connection). Jess also has a pretty impressive singing voice, although I don’t really find much appeal when she sings in English. Great voice development there, but it just sounds too American, if you know what I mean. My favourite thing about her though, is her Ice Princess quality. I love people like her who are serious and still have fun while doing so. My heart skipped a beat when I found out that she teases (or used to tease) other members in the group. That’s just the way that Jess rolls, and I love her for it.

What do you want to see more from snsd in the future?
SNSD basically started off as high school students who could only be cute to Korea and the rest of the world that knew of their existence. The dancing and music was simple, although still very much loved. Their voices and their overall look were rather unrefined. They were adorable – ’bout it.
However as time passed, they grew up, had various life experiences, both as individuals and as a group I’m sure. They’re constantly updating their image, being cute and sexy (at separate times though, as the two cannot co-exist) on television, through their music, their dancing and when on the stage. They have proven themselves to be versatile, catering to the tastes of a manner of different people. If there’s one song that I don’t like, there’s bound to be at least two more that will take make up for it. They started off as being unknown, even within Korea and they have now surged to the top, even going overseas now.
I can’t wait to see what they’ll do next. They’re lovely girls with so much to offer.
4. Why does this girl group stand out for you? What makes them different?
SNSD stands out for me because there’s more to them than just their music. Sure, they can sing a tune, dance to a few beats, but hey, any girl/boy band can do that. Their personalities make me want to reach out and grab them by their shapely waists. It’s their mannerisms and characters in general that make them come to life. Most singers are just that – singers. The girls in SNSD are so much more. They’re actually people who I can recognise as being human. They have flaws, for sure, but these make them interesting. They’re great girls who just lose their way a little along the way.
They’re also so versatile! I can never really think to myself, “This is definitely an SNSD song”, because they’re always creating new material that is quite independent in style from their other songs. As I said, before, they can also pull off both cute and sexy. They are cute in ‘Gee’ and also are this way most of the time, from what I can gather. But heck, oh heck, can they turn that around. I saw the Star Dance Battle with them dancing and, dammmnnnn girls, you’re all so easy on the eyes. Yuri, Tae and Soo got me all hot and bothered with their sexy looks and awesome moves. I watched that clip at least 100 times in one day. Everything else that I’ve ever known became obsolete after seeing that dance.
Finally, SNSD is the first band or artist group that I’ve really ever looked into. This is my first time for anyone that I have ever even visited a fansite, let alone read posts and make comments. They have made me a changed person.
5. Anything else you want to throw in, whether it be comments/pictures/videos/etc.
That video in the post of SNSD winning their first award for Kissing You was rather inspirational. I was, for some reason, biting my thumb knuckle while watching the girls cry just to hold back what I’m pretty sure was laughter. Some sort of weird emotional reaction (I laugh at funerals). Then the girls singing the song again after winning the award with many of them still in tears and then Tiff being so strong and coraling the others – it hit a soft spot in me.
The first image with the all the girls with their mini-skirt held my attention for at least five minutes. I couldn’t take my eyes away from those lovely pairs of legs.

1. How did you come across SNSD? First reaction? What member caught your attention first?
Being a SuJu fan, I got to know that they kinda have a female counterpart. Of course I knew Yoona from the MVs, Jessica from the rumors… but the group itself didn’t get my attention. Then a friend showed me Kissing You MV (because Donghae was in it lol). My first reaction: Nine cute girls — No, thanks. But someday I was bored, watched ITNW MV and I ended up loving it! Then I stumbled upon a series of Jessica’s UFO replies… and I fell in love with how *cool* she is ♥
2. Current favorite member and why.
Honestly I LOVE all nine, it’s not even funny. Each of them are… interesting. They’re awesome. BUT as you may see on my new avatar, I’d like to give Hyoyeon more love because she deserve it. Out of nine members, she’s undoubtedly the most underrated one. (Do you guys realized that she’s the only one who has no side-project at all???) It’s funny how maybe Hyoyeon herself doesn’t want to be on the spotlight and all, because of her camera-shyness. But really this girl is made of awesomeness! Anyway, I’m glad Hyo get slightly more attention nowadays ^^
3. How do you think snsd has evolved over the years? What do you want to see more from snsd in the future?
Physically and mentally, they’ve matured — that’s for sure. I’m amazed at how they keep on improving on every aspects. I believe SNSD as a group of nine talented girls is still got a lot of things to offer. I hope they can continue progressing as a group and individually.
4. Why does this girl group stand out for you? What makes them different?
For me, what makes them stand out as a group is their relationship — their bond. 9 girls with 9 distinct personalities, bond together as one family under the group of SNSD. I love how real they are.. how they have flaws, how they make mistakes and learn from it. Looking back how much hate they got, it’s amazing what they’ve been achieving this far. I think I can say that their hard-work and passion for what they do are inspirational. I also love how they interact with each other.. they’re really entertaining, imo. :]

I feel like I’ve told this story so many times haha but I was never into Kpop..actually I was never into asian music in general. “white washed” asian if you wanna give it a name. but a friend introduced me to big bang and i became such a fan girl of the group, so naturally i watched seungri’s manwon happiness. at first i didnt really pay much attention to the girl group in the show, because to be honest i never liked girl groups. but as the show progresses, yoona really caught my attention. she was so cute. and then the part where Yoona chose Taeyeon as her helper and they sang the congrats song..that totally hit it off for me. so cute. and from then on out, fan girling sesh started.

I love all nine but Tiffany does get a lil extra love. Love this girl because shes just so cute..that english is such a bonus. Her singing realy captures it for me too, even if its not the best. She’s so bubbly and cute one day, then shes sexy. Gosh blow me away. But shes also very mature..just refer to my tiffany birthday post for this year LOL.

Firstly, there’s so many other silent readers who only voice out when posts like these are released! LMAO. Glad I got that one out..
I’ll (really) try to be short on this one, since almost everything I wanted to say were already said by those comments above.
1. 18th May 2009 – my friend’s PM (personal message) on Windows Live Messenger stated “Gee, would you SNSD me?” I made fun of him by replying, “yes, I’d gladly SNSD you” and had a laugh before asking, “What’s SNSD?” Then he instructed me to search “SNSD” on YouTube. The first video I watched was the “HaHaHa” MV which was a TOTAL TURNOFF due to excessive cuteness. My friend said it was the wrong video and then directed me to the “Gee” MV. I had a good laugh at the video at first, thinking “Ahh, just another ripoff from Taiwan” (IMO, I used to hate C-pop a lot) but guess who changed my mind? Jessica 🙂 She was my first love (before I switched to Yoona a few hours later LMAO)
2. I love Tiffany now. ITNW mushroom hair and her long hair. Other than that, I can relate to this girl A LOT, so that’s why I chose her 🙂
3. I think they evolved a lot. As in maturing physically (maknae taller than Tiffany!) and emotionally. I WANT to see them try out new things (but that’d mean being slutty, right?)
4. Actually, they’re not that different from the other girl groups, TBH. the only thing that they’re different at is the number of members. I don’t think there’s gonna be any other girl groups which are gonna be this huge anymore for a LOOONG time to come 🙂
