Yeah it felt hurried to me too… I mean Etude <- come on! It sounds like a song they didn’t use for the Girls Generation Album. The dance for Genie was the FIRST time I’ve ever seen the girls out of sync… but we definitely CANNOT underestimate the power of 9! Look at all their #1 on the online charts! I have good feelings about this! And who knows, maybe there’ll be a winner in one of those 4 other songs!
I totally agree. I think the three months since Gee promotions ended up until now was not enough time compared to their previous hiatus.
Ya~I`m agree too ^^
Their song are totally perfect and interesting ^.^
Girl Generation Fight!Fight!Fight!
❤ ❤ ❤ Yoona ^.^
congrats to our girls
they deserved to win as they worked so hard!
I disagree that SNSD didn’t spend enough time on their songs. Genie is a really good song and Etude is catchy.
The problem was that they decided on a relatively bad dance routine. The legs really do help in distracting how uninspired the dancing is, but live performances are key to boosting sales.
From my understanding SM planned everything for this year before girls came out with Gee. From various interviews, girls knew that they would make a fast comeback. So yeah it’s not that rushed.
I don’t see any evidence of haste. The song, it’s arrangement, and the girls’ performance of it seemed polished. (I’m not the best judge of dance so I won’t comment on it except to say it was a more mature presentation then before — sexy but not overdone.)
The problem to me is that the song isn’t as tuneful as their best stuff up-to-now. The best I can say about my reaction to it is that I’ve gotten use to it (“I’m genie for your weesh” goes thru my head for a while after listening to it).
They’re songwriters are going to miss the boat every once in a while. Yet, thanks to momentum generated by “Gee”, they still managed to get a lot of attention anyway, and achieve a certain amount of success. That’ll serve them until their next big hit — inevitable with the talent involved here.
First off, I think it only seems less when you compare it to Gee, because nothing will break that success again. (It’s possible, if we’re going to remain positive for her girls!) Still, people were creating high expectations, and I do think they met them.
Besides, you can’t blame the girls when they’re trying so hard. Give them an A for effort! =D (But, this is the music industry, and it doesn’t work that way…)
i actually like Genie better than Gee, it may not have the catchyness(cuz of the repeating phrase), but it offers new development on how the girls will mature, song wise.as they grow older, would you be expecting to act cute?i think they were continuing what they started with Gee, though.it’s a mature look, with out being so…obvious or garish or trying hard to be sexy, and still remaining fresh but not so bubble gum pop and obviously cutesy which make some of the viewers cringe, like me.as for the choreo, it grew on me actually!!ahahaha!!the leg movement, it really draws attention to their legs.
the picture above, is it me or are Yuri’s legs…..big?don’t tell me it’s the “camera angle”….but i sure do hope it’s just the camera angle…..but…..
