Dang, talk about award magnets. As 2010 nears its end, SNSD is just hauling in achievements left and right. To add to their hefty list is a placement on the “Pop Culture Power Leader Big 30″– a chart of thirty influential individuals/groups in the fields of broadcasting, films, performances, music, and entertainment. Conveniently fitting all five categories, SNSD ranked #4, moving up 10 places from last year’s #14.
CEO of CJ Entertainment and Vice-Chairwoman of CJ Group Lee Mi Kyung came in first, with SM Entertainment founder Lee Sooman second, comedian Kang Ho Dong third, comedian Yoo Jae Suk fifth, and YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun Suk sixth.
The achievement illustrates the influence of the girls not only in Korea, but worldwide- a recognizable symbol of Kpop girl groups and an emblem of Korean culture overall. Adding to the feat is the fact that the compilation is not merely a hastily-made list of famous celebrities, but a carefully chosen chart by panels of industry experts and professionals. Legit yo.
We’re so proud of SNSD for becoming such a widely known, positive representation of South Korea. They truly deserve it. Make sure to show your love as well down in the comments š
