On March 28th, SM Entertainment announced that they will be issuing $881,000 worth of new shares. All these new shares will be going to SM artists!
Through DART Financial Supervisory Service, the shares will be provided to Kangta, BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, SNSD, SHINee, f(x), Go Ara, and more. SMEnt said they would be issuing 22,120 shares at approximately 44, 550 won each (about $39-$40 USD).
Kangta, BoA, most of Super Junior and SNSD members will receive 680 shares each (about $27,200 USD). Wow, isn’t that a nice pay day ;P. It is really nice to see that SM values their artists to give them a piece of the company. I feel these artists definitely deserve this with all the hard work they do day in and day out.
SM stated, “This capital increase represents a strengthening partnership between the company and its artists, and we hope that as shareholders, our artists will share and take part in the vision and growth of the company” followed by “We are expecting a global growth of the company through this renewed partnership with the artists.”

wow… that’s a HIGH pay.. just hope that they wont fight wif each other to be the CEO next time.. (js saying) SM and SM Artists, LET’S GROW IT TOGETHER!!! 😀
SM know that they are who make the money most and afraid when the contract end, they would leave
lol that’s just what i was thinking. Before they think about leaving give them a reason to stay. Nice tactic SM
hahaha so we were all thinking alike XD
lol
i think so
looks like SM wants some kind of connection that will have its artists remain in the company. there’s rumors that a few of their contracts are coming to an end soon, right? (not just our girls but others as well)
anyways, whatever the reason, this is good news, and hope the girls take good care of their shares. for some reason, I have a feeling that Seohyun would be the best at this once she gets the hang of how stocks work, lol ^^
lol SM just making the artists feel more loyal.
Well at least with this, SM might take their opinions into account more if they’re shareholders. Hope SNSD rolls in the dividends they create for the company…haha
Great the company treats the artists with right action. And they all deserve for this because they really hard working to be today one. SNSD, fighting and please take care your healthy ^^
Good to know that SM Entertainment finally realizes the importance of its artistes to the survival and prosperity of its company :).
Yeah, I’ll imagine Seohyun will be a real stockmarket whiz once she gets a hang of the system .
Cheers !
Kenneth.
soooo…this SM tactic too bind their artis with the smooth way(nice one),I hope SNSD got a good profit from their share(they deserve it)
Well done SM. This is sure to bolster the loyalty to the company from those who are really putting in the effort. Also, its a good showing of appreciation for their work. The awards are a testament to that.
Well done indeed.:D
good that they will get some kind of safety in a such risky business as it is in the entertainment industry.
the first day you are an famous well paid idol and the next day you dont have any job at all in worst case
SM does really know how to treat their artist. SM’s artist will be rich soon
This is great, I’m glad that SM is doing this for their artists afterall, SM idols deserve this!!!!
A natural development like in many big companies where due to good management and devoted participators success is created. The girls are to be congratulated. They have worked hard and given a whole world entertainment and are by now ready for more responsibility in the SM company.
THEY DESERVE THIS. 🙂
Doesn’t BoA own over 100,000 shares? That was reported and confirmed years ago though lol. This makes me think Queen BoA owns like half of the SM artists hahaha

new shares doesn’t necessarily mean a good thing. SM Ent could easily dilute them to make the previous shares worth less. just like how the former shares will lose value when “new shares are created”. this may sound good to the “ignorant” public like the fans but business people obviously know the truth….
Of course, any one who plays with stocks or is business oriented/knowledgeable knows this. However, the more shares you own, the more say you have in the company. Then again, I’m fairly certain 99% of them will never get to that level. BoA has though, which is probably why she gets away with so much crap but maybe SM Ent wants their artists to feel like they have a chance to get to BoA’s level… therefore, they need to be obedient and hard working by staying in SM longer. Staying longer generates more money for the company as long as their “products” are doing well as an idol/group. It’s just one big mirage to make their idol employees feel good so we don’t get another DBSK/JYJ scandal or their next-Shinhwa from leaving.
