The Summer Sonic 2011 rock festival in Japan has managed to secure 2 top Korean acts as special guest performers…
Yup, it seems our angelic 9 ladies, together with BoA , have been invited as special guest performers at this prestigious Japanese musical event.
This fact was made known on their official Summer Sonic 2011 website on the 30th of June 2011. To top it off, BoA is the first solo female singer to be invited to perform at this well-known event. (Kudos to BoA !)
‘Summer Sonic 2011′ will have 2 performances each at the respective designated performance venues in Tokyo and Osaka, and this will take place on the 13th and 14th of August 2011.
BoA is slated to perform in Tokyo at the August 13th performance slot, together with well-known artistes like Avril Lavigne, Japanese hip-hop group Rip Slyme and Perfume.
Our favourite 9 ladies will be strutting their stuff to the Japanese rock festival audience on the 14th of August 2011.
Other well-known artistes appearing at the aforementioned rock festival include The Strokes, Red Hot Chilipeppers, Panic! At The Disco, Korn and X-Japan.

Omg i i could go it sounds amazing as a huge fan of rhcp and the strokes boa and obly snsd i hope rhcp play some of the upcoming album and julian i just want to see the sexy u sing undercover darkness the ting tings man and boa i wonder what snsd will sing i wish they did a cover of some rock songs after hearing taeyeon do the rdr intro i would like her to sing bring me to life but as for snsd perhaps the kinks what i like about you its a fun song that fits the summer

Is it just me, or does the term “Special Guest” mean something of prestige, respect and honour in archaic terms?
Even in just 4 short years, SNSD has become the talk of the town. Recommended by people from all walks of life. They rose ferociously to the top, and earned the admiration of many. A popularity contest matched only by the best in their league, where one wrong step could spell disaster…
Pardon me for getting a little carried away, but um, yea.
I take it that by “Prestigious Music Event”, only those who manage to make an big, influential impact with their music are invited. The fact that the ladies got invited to this event in such a short time-span (from their foray into the JPN market last year? I don’t know what I’m talking about) as a special guest along with BoA attests to their immense popularity in Japan.
No doubt about it.

Well, what this says about their popularity (which is like, duh) in Japan, I wouldn’t comment, but I can tell you what the format of this event is like based on the SoShified article.
The Summer Sonic event essentially consists of four concerts at two locations over two days – for 2011, Tokyo and Osaka from 13-14 August. Each day there will be two concerts ongoing simultaneously at both locations. Performers participating in this event will perform at one of the two concerts on the 13, then travel to perform at the other city on the 14.
Special guests are performers who will perform at only ONE location. ie. SNSD will perform at Tokyo on the 14, but they will not perform at Osaka on the 13. So I guess they are like, VIP “today only” performances. Besides RHCP, there’s also Avril Lavigne, according to SoShified.
I wonder what the girls will perform at a rock concert. RDR? ROCK ON TAENG!!!

one of my all-time favourite band RHCP (Red Hot Chili Peppers) will be there too :). i was so ecstatic when i heard this yesterday…OMFGahhhhhhhhhhhh RHCP and SNSD on the same event – gosh, i wish i’m in japan right now!
