This, together with the new RDR vid, whatever exatly the cause, the Girls are putting a lot more “business” to their dancing. The motions are so sharp, and other words I can’t think of.
At first I wasn’t sold on the song and never listened to it all the way through. After watching the video wowwww it’s daebak and for the song it’s up there as one of my favorites. And the girls all look gorgeous. Again, at first didn’t like taeyeons hair at first now I’m in love with it and she’s definitely working it. Very sexy. Great video hope there’s a non dance version to accompany this sexy video

The dance starts of making a good impression, but after the second chorus (and after the breakdown TaeNy) part, it started looking like better dance routines could bring in the “WOW” factor. The most memorable routine was Taeyeon’s “getting into the driver’s seat” at the beginning of the PV, and also the “spinning the wheel” dance at the chorus. I’m just recording down my own first impressions and review the PV again after giving it another go. But all-in-all, great song.

The choreography is wayyyyyy cool. People were afraid that it would be dull because the girl that is singing is doing more than the ones behind her… No need to worry! Not only does that let the one singing her solo have some spotlight, but the dance itself is so darn amazing! It’s probably the most complex dance routine I’ve seen from SNSD. Notice how each girl doing the solo is dancing differently than the rest? OMGGG. I love it too much!

One thing i’ve always found fascinating about SNSD (besides their delightful and humble personalities and their standout beauty) is their dance choreography. For a Nine member group it must be a complex challenge and monumental undertaking for each and every promotion. And yet time and time again they seem to execute every routine flawlessly, proving to be the true professionals that they are. Of course much credit must go to some of their brilliant choreographers like Rino Nakasone and Lisette Bustamante. It continues to amaze me how the creative forces behind SNSD keeps coming up with fresh and interesting, “edge of your seat” and spazz worthy, choreography…and Mr. Taxi is no exception. In this latest work of art I see many creative formations, ex: two leads with the center position set back instead of a standard triangle (@ 0:45 & 2:54), a cool three team cluster in an inverted triangle formation (@ 2:02), the spinning transitions, and even an unbalanced formation (@ 2:35) to keep from being redundantly symmetrical. Also great are the walkout lead changes from different directions and a quick yet very visually pleasing moment when Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Hyoyeon’s arms fan out to point @ 3:27. All in all, this is perhaps their most impressive MV from a choreography standpoint to date.
Other personal favorite standout moments: Sooyoung knockout gorgeous @ 0:39, Yuri’s sexy solo, Taeyeon’s fierce (exclamation) point at the end, and (of course) Sunny getting her center stage moment to shine =)

Oh my gawd!!!!! I yelled when i see this email title in my inbox.. Goodness!!! This is gonna rock my world. Amazingly im taking driving test this month… I’ll imagine Soshi when it comes to driving.. keke… *SPAZZ SPAZZ SPAZZZZZZ* N omg did i just see TaeNy’s Fanservice there? Wow.. And i have to say, Sooyoung look hot in this concept. And for once, Taeyeon stands in the middle for the ending instead of Yoona….

Warning: Wall of text.
Firstly, I’m gonna comment on the choreography. Overall, the tempo of the song is high compared to previous songs (think Run Devil Run, Genie, Hoot), making the dance more fast-paced. That means the girls will probably be out of breath before the song finishes and it’ll be taxing on them (see what i did there?) In my opinion, in order for a choreography to be successful, it has to be (a) memorable and (b) capture the audiences’ attention. Gee had the “crab legs” dance, the “knock knock” dance as well as the “G” dance; all of which were memorable. Mr. Taxi needs more than one dance move that would be memorable enough to be given a name, and I this choreography is capable of doing just that. Synchronisation was pretty good, just like a school or sardines. Dance break. It’s been good to see a dance break since Genie. It adds substance to the choreography and also avoids repetition of dance routines. That’s just my opinion.
Members. The members that stood out (imo) were Sunny, Taeyeon, and Sooyoung, not because they had more screen time than others; they made an impression when it was their turn to take the spotlight, be it for a split second or appearing all throughout the chorus. Oh, Tiffany stood out as well. But that’s because I felt some of her moves weren’t sharp enough and it shows, like she’s uncomfortable with the dance routines.
Winks. I noticed winks from Sunny, Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Sooyoung. Coincidentally, those were the members that stood out throughout the PV. Although we’ve never seen them wink in their Korean MVs, I think this nanosecond gesture would definitely work in the Japanese market. Heads up if you noticed winks from other members as well!
Outfits. I was discussing this with a friend of mine, and we both agreed that the yellow cab outfit was better. Reflecting on this, I think what makes outfits noteworthy is how different / eccentric they look. Gee outfits were colorful, Genie’s white sailor outfits had hats, and Oh!’s blue outfits were, well… cheerleader outfits. While deciding which outfit is better is ABSOLUTELY subjective, does anyone else think the black outfits resemble those from Tron?
Camera angles. I think even worst of choreographies can seem awesome given the proper camera angles. Their Japanese PVs with the horizontal panning had a significantly better effect than their Korean MVs . So if the girls were to make another Japanese PV in the future, I know I’ll be in for a treat.
Each element paints a clear picture of the entire video. If each of these elements can cause interaction amongst fans, I’m sure it’ll leave a lasting impression. If you’ve read until this far, I’m just talking bs. So take themt with a pinch of salt. And some sugar.

One thing about the routine, I like how they execute the parts where they move in sequence, the part at 3:20 (and 3:24) and at 1:07. Just like my general comment on the routine, just a lot of precision and snap – I think they pull it off more cleanly than the turning thing in Genie and the Arrow Dance in sequence in Hoot, just the two that come to mind. Also, the choreography allows a cleaner motion, especially compared to the arrow dance. And the snap pose at 1:34.

@Microbot : Yup agree with your idea of an outdoor setting for the story version, the studio thing with RDR was quite disappointing for me.
@ruraldaze : I thought the yellow/black look was kinda erm … Reminded me of T-ara’s Crazy ‘Because of You’. But I guess it suits the Taxi theme and using flags wouldn’t be politically correct. And I still feel there is something wrong with their hair styles? I only really like Taeyeon’s (both outfits) and Yuri’s (black/yellow). I hope when they perform on music station some time soon their outfits would be WOW… I liked their music station RDR.
As for the camera angles, I totally agree. It’s like camera angles + professional choreography + generally well executed moves made the video eye candy…
And I agree with your point with the choreo being taxing … I was kinda hoping for more vocals and ad-libs but I guess THAT would be overkill especially with the choreo. I still remember Jessica collapsing and sweating like mad after they performed at a school where Boom was the host.
When I first watched this I thought, wow, they are out for an all-kill. Hope this is enough for their 3rd consect year at the top. We’ll just have to see the competition this year.
