I’d be lying if I say I didn’t let my biases influence me, but please don’t flame me for not liking this Japanese version, at least not yet anyways. I’ve only listened to this a couple of times and the initial reaction was that the lyrics don’t fit the music well and sounds awkward in many places, and the rhymes that existed in the Korean version have disappeared, removing a huge chunk of the original appeal and making the song a lot softer and less edgy. Some of the lines send chills down my spine for how strangely they sounded as I don’t think they put enough thought into how the words fit with the melody. When you start changing the number of syllables in a verse, the verse start to sound different, and when you have many verses like that the whole song start to sound different. Right now, without being overly negative about it, I’m going to try to treat it as a different song, because any reference to the Korean version will cause me to invoke thoughts of inferiority.
i think that’s the reason why SM decided to release RDR digitally…the lyrics are indeed too strong and frankly, scary for japanese listening preference. from what i hear “Oh” would be their last remake and then they are to make 6 new songs, plus sings of the remake to compile in their first album in japan.
I love both the Korean and Japanese version. Not because I’m some academic/generalist/commonwealth stereotype, but because I’ve come to like listening to both of them regardless of a relatively small disparity with the language, lyrics and melody(?) in the song itself.
I’m not really biased or some might say “Predilected” towards these sort of things merely ‘cos I’m just another average joe listening to music he likes.
Sure, certain words in different languages have different tenacity when it comes to matters like this. Just… enjoy it as it is! Going in deep to say too hard actually ruins the experience for you to an extent. So.. yea, listening to a song is as simple enough an enjoyment to relax, I don’t really have the urge to get too technical though.
I still prefer the Korean version.
I can’t wait for an actual NEW Japanese song.
Since I’m so bias I still like the song.
I just wish/hope for something new.
WOWOWOWOW! That was so awesome. I loved everything especially with this concept being so dark and not happy. HyoYeon’s first part was so awesome. Scared though! Haha
btw: off topic…has anybody seen the new episode or RM, their mission was to do the “Gee” dance choreography with an ABBA song playing, lol! Freaking hilarious 🙂
I find it difficult to like this song, especially since I was so in love with RDR as a Korean song (it is the Soshi song I sing best to date). But, halfway through, it gets a bit easier.
Hopefully, we’ll hear original Japanese songs soon, you know?
On a different note, there are now 3 different versions of RunDevilRun~
The song is still nice..though I do agree that the number of syllables for many lines are slightly different and it sort of disturbs me..but I guess that’s the whole point of remaking the song and there’s no choice since it’s in a different language. The harmonies can be heard to a greater extent this time, but for me I still like the Korean verison better.
I heard too many times of the Korean song or what…
But I prefer the Korean version….it suits better than the japs version….
Anyway, japs version sound nice too……
SNSD, fighting!^^
Although you may have heard lots of this) Any news on an MV? I was waiting for the last week, checking in every hourly. Yes I’m a stalker, but who isn’t. MV come out wherever you are…
Statement:
This song rocks. Sooyoung … woow. And talk about female empowerment. It’s like, WOW! BAMB! I think the Japanese version is more harsh then the original Korean version. I liked that chorus for Taeyeon is different from Jessica and Seohyun.
I’m a choreography enthusiast, perhaps that’s what drew me into Kpop and to GirlsGeneration (Fireworks…), so looking forwarde to the dance thus the MV. Hope they fine tune the pushing part and the dancing for the rap part at the end.
Idea:
They should digitalize the dance, since the electronic adlibs in the song and the concept in the Korean MV… And since Oh is like retro and the olden version of girls etc etc. The concept for Oh and RDR is cool. But I guess, to be critical, Oh wasn’t a song it was just talking (although it is very catchy… VERY CATCHY) and RDR was just a black soshi moment with not futuristic look.
point to consider, I think GirlsGeneration could pull of Visual Dreams in such short notice cause their GIRLSGENERATION. But you have to admit … seriously
Hyoyeon’s part at 0:50 freaked me out! LOL
Wow that was lightning fast! O.O
AWESOME 😀 😀 😀 !!!!! I Like It <333333 !!!!!!
i like it :)…they put a twist on sooyoung and hyoyeon’s part…and added a bit more edge to seoyhyun and fany’s part :).
totally love it!!
the japanese ver. is catchy 😀
gonna be on replay for some time.
btw: RDR japanese version won’t be performed on SMTown tokyo…I’ve got conformation that SNSD will sing the japanese version of “Oh” instead…
Whoa, that was blazing fast. Didn’t realize I would last.
Too bad I gotta go, looking forward to the Japanese “Oh”.
I’m a poet and I didn’t even know it.
OMG! I love it. I can´t wait for watch this song live. x3
“In the mean time, I really really really gotta RUN. ”
HA I saw what you did there
LOL I actually wasn’t kidding.
=D
I was at school when I logged on here and saw this!
AAHH lol my whole classroom heard this today! (I blared up the speakers and didn’t care if no one but me liked it ^.^)
And a full Japanese album around the corner…I AM IN HEAVEN!

I just can’t wait to hear a fully unique Japanese single! =D
(Also I wish for Visual Dreams to be promoted more in Korea ^.^)
Oh Oh Oh Oh to be performed tomorrow! =D
SM TOWN JAPAN! SPAZZING!
i like the way they mixed this version….. esp the last part of the song… awesome much? the harmonies were so much more evident >.>
ok… now i got to run
I like it too. The harmonies definitely stood out.
Great! Thanks for the latest news!
Ehh, wasnt too excited. Not too bad, but not too great. I just cant wait for orignal new singles.
I didn’t expect it this good. Lyrics is unique, conversational, and honest, written in Jap but Korean feeling to it.
Gonna be a huge hit…I’d think so.
Wow… hmm.. the feeling of the RDR still remains.. DAEBAK!!! 🙂 wonder how will the MV turns out.. :X
