On January 14th, Nayutawave Records made an announcement on their official website that a Japanese version of ‘Run Devil Run’ would soon be available for download as a ring tone. Roughly translated, the message says:
Last year SNSD released their introductory Japanese single [Genie] and a second single [Gee], followed by the hit DVD [New Beginning of Girls’ Generation] and their latest Korean album [Hoot]. This year the hottest group, SNSD, want to give the first gift of the New Year! A Japanese version of the Korean hit [Run Devil Run] will make an appearance!! On January 18th a mobile ring tone will be available and on January 25th the full ring tone will be made available via digital download on the website.
This is exciting news! Perhaps there’s a Run Devil Run Japanese single in the works as well?? At this point we can only hope/guess. No word yet on the status of ‘Oh!’. Stay tuned and we’ll be sure to fill you in on any further developments as Soshi dominates overseas.

whats the difference between ‘full ring tone’ and ‘mobile ring tone’ ?
I’m not entirely sure myself…o.o;
the different is full ring tone is full version but mobile ring tone only the course…..just about 30 second..that’s it….
oh?
I thought oh was coming out first….

taeyeon shi jessica tippany sunny yuri hyoyeon seohyunni sooyoungni wa yoona…
next ring tone…..haha…
SNSD, fighting! ^^
wish there’s a single and PV with it. hope they change the concept too. :3 like what they did in gee and genie.
i’m guessing Oh! would be next to RDR, and they would create an MV of RDR that continues to OH! :3 like in the korean version only vice versa. :3 anywhoo… :3 can’t wait for it.
Yeahs ! SNSD Jjang ! Fighting Sones !~ 🙂
so stokeddddd!!
RDR is one of my favourite songs from SNSD…and this song is not something japanese idols do so its going to be a hit. i wonder how will the otakus feel hearing the lyrics, SNSD already has a reputation in the japanese media as unattainable idols, lol?
I’m happy with all the remake of their Korean songs.
But I would rather they just make new Japanese songs.
I love all the Japanese versions of their Korean songs so far,
but I want their Korean songs to just remain Korean.
although i’m with you and have been wishing for a new song/japanese album, but i think making a new song in japanese that will solely fit snsd’s concept is hard to produce. i’m sure there’s already one on the way, but to compile it into an album with 12-15 songs is incredibly difficult. UMJ wants SNSD to stay the way they are without having to alter or make them look similar to what the japanese idols are. plus, the more people are begging for new songs, the more SM will delay their album…i think it also falls under SM’s marketing strategy. “lets make the most remakes we can and have the fans anticipate their first album in japanese, instead of just making new ones all the time and be successful early, but fizzle out later.”

I apologize in advance for injecting a shot of negativity here. But what is with all the remakes? And is it just me or are these remakes getting worse and worse? I mean the Genie conversion to Japanese was okay, then Japanese Gee was kind of hard to swallow at first then I got use to it, now this? Boy this is gonna require some major getting use to, I am not liking how the lyrics sound, THEY DON’T FIT! Oh! Japanese is on the way and I am now expecting the worst. And yea, I will NOT be surprised if they pull a Hoot Japanese version too before they even start the drawing board of an original Japanese album. SME, you already made enough money off us innocent fans, the girls deserve some new original material.
It takes less money to change the lyrics, and it’ll still make a giant profit in the Japanese market, with the major (and I mean MAJOR) success of the remakes, there’s no reason for SM to deviate from this formula. Want a new song purely in Japanese? get the Japanese to stop buying the remakes and ask for an original song :P.
Just because they can r@pe us doesn’t mean I like to be r@ped. I stand firm on this and I have not and will not purchase any of the Japanese singles. The Japanese people are buying purely based on loyalty and SNSD’s brand value alone, because there’s very little creative and entertainment value in these remakes (especially to those who own the superior original versions). They’re really testing people’s patience here, but if they want to create another superstar in Jpop like they did with BoA and TVXQ, the will not be able to achieve that with remakes.
I don’t know, I’m not calling your concern here invalid, but I had in mind that music acts generally do one album a year. I’ve never been all there, though. But last year they had a regular album and then the mini-album, in addition to the remakes and everything else. I think a lot of it is that everything’s happening in rapid succession. But also, I was into Japanese music first, so that’s probably another reason I don’t mind (the sound) as much.
Also, (again I’m not exactly up to date) but I remember in the Japanese music scene a performer/group would release like six singles to every album (so that, like, only half the album was new material).
But yeah, I know a lot of fans don’t like this remake business, and it certainly doesn’t look great to fans of their Korean material. Hopefully SME plays it the right way.
its understandable that some of the fans want a new song, and there’s already an album on the works. but i rather have SM/SNSD delay making an album that would surely be worth the wait, and just listen to remakes of their hit songs for now…than have them do a new song that mostly likely be bad because they went and rush the production. rather its better to wait for a while when you know its going to be very good and anticipated one.
hey how about OH Japanese version?? Is it going to be release on Feb. 2?
sounds awsome i bet it will be just as big in japan!! 🙂 🙂
i dont like this remake…
many people hope SM will make a new album…new songs…
but i also hope Japaneses like RDR
i actually think RDR sounds a lot better in japanese because the language has a stronger pronunciations. from what the fans are speculating, they will be making 6 new songs for their first album plus 6 of their original hits to compile the whole album to 12 songs.
I barely listen to Jpop.
I’m not a fan of the music.
But so far I’ve liked SNSD remakes of their Korean songs.
I like them doesn’t mean I want them to continue them.
I’m still looking forward to a purely new Japanese single from them one day.
RDR Japanese version.. Hmm. I’m not so sure about it right now.
Korean ver. > Japanese ver. (That applies to all their remakes.)
