The seating chart has been released! Oh mang, the excitement is already building inside me! Apparently the FLR1-4 sections are also seated!
With so many artists and so many people, I’m glad that the venue is the Staples Center (~20k seats max capacity, looks like about 2/3 of that here). It’d be really unfortunate if there weren’t enough seats to fit everyone that’s going!
Also, a quick update on the hotel/room sharing – I’ve decided to not go through with the mass planning of it all, it’s just really hard to do when you’re working 2 jobs haha. I think I was probably in way over my head, and I definitely wouldn’t want to screw up people’s plans because of something I forgot to do or didn’t thoroughly research. Thank you to everyone that sent in your info for the head count, your support was much appreciated! Please visit this thread on soshified if you’re interested in sharing rooms/splitting costs/being that big pink gang: http://soshified.com/forums/index.php/topic/48157-sm-town-concert-hotel/
Even with all that out of the way though, I still have to plan for myself for the mini vacation in LA and will be there from the 2nd to the 5th. If you’re interested in collaborating in putting together a list of things to do, places to eat at, etc. feel free to leave it in the comments below!
Back to SM Town, I really hope we get to see an ocean of pink, but with everyone scattered that might be a bit hard. Please show your love & support for the girls, international SONEs hwaitting!
From the Staples Center Website:
Cameras/Photography
No commercial or flash photography of any kind is permitted. Camcorders or any other audio/visual equipment is prohibited unless authorized by team/promoter or performer. Specifically, the use of the following equipment is not permitted:
Lenses greater than three-and-one-half inches in length
Telephoto or zoom lenses of any kind
Interchangeable lenses of any kind
Monopods or tripods
Flash equipment of any kind
With regards to cameras, general consensus seems to be that they’re not allowed, and might be strictly enforced. Some people are saying it’s not all too bad once you’re inside, but others have stated that the Staples Center might check your bags for professional cameras. Just take some extra precautions and don’t have your gear in plain sight (even in the bag) when entering I guess. I personally will try to sneak my camera in as well, but it’ll have to depend on how close I sit to take good pictures, since I only have the stock 18-55 lens for my DSLR. That said, I’m not sure if I’d be able to take any pictures at all when seeing the girls perform live for the first time! (Haha I’m super excited if you can’t already tell XD, but I’ll definitely try to bring back some good stuff to share!) If anything, it just might be a bunch of BoA pics (my first love hahaha) – but boshi would def. be better, right?
Please remember that the group sales on Soshified close THURSDAY, JULY 22ND, 8PM EST!
If you’re one of those ‘maybe, leaning to a yes’ people, maybe this’ll force you to decide haha. It did for me at least…

for a moment, when i saw the seating chart, i thought it was assigned per fan groups, hehehe, Sones in front.
yellow will be pink. 😉
I just took the family down there a few weeks ago with a 5 day Disney pass. Since my kids are older (probably just a bit younger that a lot of you) we also hit Knott’s Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain (twice). If you enjoy thrill rides then try to get to Magic Mountain and experience X2 and Tatsu. Gotta get there early and sprint to X2 unless you want to wait hours in line.
If anybody does plan on hitting the theme parks while you are there please let me know, I can give you a few tips.
thanks for the info lk, will def. look into those!
any other comments on theme parks (disneyland/universal)? might hit those up if there’s time.
how about outlets and whatnot, any recommendations? =)
It seemed the least crowded day at the theme parks was on a Tuesday at SFMM, Thursday there was WAY more crowded. Went to Knott’s on a Wed and it was pretty crowded, lots of day camp kids. We spent Thursday and Friday at Disneyland and Friday was a lot more crowded than Thursday. Soooo, basically the earlier in the week the better and make sure to get there at opening.
Like I said if you go to SFMM, sprint to X2 first and you should get on quickly. If you dawdle even a few minutes wait time will be an hour and then climb steeply from there. Then ride Tatsu, then maybe Viper and then make your way around the park. The rides on the other side of the park (Batman, Superman, Scream, Goliath, Colosuss, etc…) all had very short wait times on Tuesday.
At Knott’s we went straight to the back end of the park and rode Xcelerator 3 times and Supreme Scream twice with no wait. Then hit Silver Bullett and Ghostrider, both with 30-45 minute waits (both rides are closer to the gate). Lines for Xcelerator get longer later in the day.
If anybody goes to Disneyland I can post a bit on how to use the Fastpass system if ya’ll want. A good time to hit some rides at Disneyland is after the fireworks show, most of the families with kids go back to the hotels after that – except for Friday night it was still pretty crowded. And keep in mind that California Adventure closes most rides after like 8:30 for the water color show thingie, so get on those rides earlier in the day or right before the show.
Couple more tidbits of informaiton for ya’ll trying to make this into a vacation trip:
I wonder of the SNSD girls will be wanting to hit some attractions as well? If I were a betting man I would say they’d try to hit some attractions (assuming management lets them off leash for a few days) after the concert? Would they pass up the opportunity to all go to Disneyland together? hmmmmm…..
Orange County Public Schools start September 7th, so it you’re hittting the theme parks stay the week after the concert, not the week before. http://www.ocss-va.org/calendar/docs/Calendar_2010-2011.pdf
Taste of coasters (fun to watch even if you don’t get to ride them):
X2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8GEdLz6GQ0
Tatsu: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiJzCsn5g98&feature=related
Xcelerator: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDxXm_Pd1NY
Fun stuff….
Posted the wrong link for the school start date (posted for VA). School for Orange County California starts August 25th which is even better.
Mods – please revise or delete my prior post, sorry…..
I’m going to Disneyland w/ family next Tuesday, so I’ll post up tips/advice later. From my experience (I used to go once every year with my family a few weeks before school started but that was when the tickets were way cheaper than they are now), Mondays and Tuesdays are the best days, especially when all the kids go back to school. Also, Labor Day this year is on the Monday right after the concert, so that is probably not a good day to go to crowded/popular places. The downside to Disneyland is that unless you have a special package or have the annual passport, ticket prices are a bit expensive. But most likely there will be at least a handful of the stars there, hopefully all 9 of our girls (they are little chodings after all and fit the best at a place like this haha :D)
I haven’t been to Six Flags yet but Knott’s is good too. For Knotts, you can get discounts from places like Ralph’s and Subways. There’s also Universal Studios or if you want to travel down to San Diego, Sea World and Legoland. And if it’s hot, you can hit the waterparks (if they’re still open). Who knows, you might spot hot cabi lifeguards that look very similar to Yoona, Yuri, or Seohyun 🙂
or you can just stay around LA and frequent Koreatown, where there’s got to be at least a few sightings of some SM star hanging out at some random restaurant or shop 🙂 and South Coast Plaza down in Orange County, where Tiffany will surely be 🙂 but if you do spot any of them, you better tell me! I’ll gladly ditch class haha 🙂
either way, if you guys are planning to go visit some theme parks, I might be able to get discounted tickets from the USC ticket office since I’m a student there, but I’m not sure. I’ll let you know if it’s possible.
For you Disney goers also note that the park hours change Sept 7th to a much earlier closing time.
http://disneyland.disney.go.com/calendar/#monthly
The week before the concert still has summer hours, so August 25th – 26th (when public schools are in session) would probably be the best days to go. Weekends are doable but will be crowded.
I want to clarify something about cameras so that people don’t get their hopes too high of snapping high resolution super sharp pictures of the artists. From what I understand the camera rules at STAPLES Center are strictly enforced and they will ask you to open your bags at the door to check for DSLRs. Anything that remotely resembles an interchangeable lens or a superzoom lens will not be allowed inside. However, I have not been to a concert at STAPLES, I don’t know if the level of enforcement is any different, but my experience with trying to sneak DSLRs into Lakers games have been failures.
I don’t want to discourage you from trying, because I will try it myself, but it’s better to have a backup plan. And your best bet is to bring a compact superzoom camera, the ones that look like regular compact cameras when turned off but are equipped with 10-12x optical zoom.
thanks for the info Raging, will take some extra precautions and update the post a bit later as well. Hopefully it’ll be okay since it’ll be dark inside, and will be a much different environment from a basketball/hockey game.
i was also gonna bring the regular digicam as well, just in case; no superzoom though. =( best of luck to everyone trying. hwaitaeng!
Q: Are the tickets standing or seated?
A: It will be assigned seating for all tickets (even the floor).
Hope that helps
oh woops, i somehow missed that hahaha. thank you!
I was leaning towards going, but this news about the cameras has pushed me all the way to no. I can’t justify going to all this trouble just to not be able to take excellent pictures with the DSLR. I think this will discourage a lot of people who would’ve been otherwise willing to travel to L.A…
I understand why they have these rules, but it would be nice of them to lift for certain events. A concert like this, which involves artists from across the ocean, and which may be a one-time-only thing, could definitely use a bit of leniency on people who really want to capture memories from it.
You don’t need pictures of the Lakers – they play all the time. 🙂
the concert itself is the incentive, 5 hours! the chance to see soshi live!
but yeah, i understand what you mean. =/
I would like to be in the pink crowd too but soshified won’t let me purchase tickets with them cuz I wasn’t active in their site =,c I hope that when I purchase the my own tickets I wont be the only scattered pink
Oh but whatevers I’m still going !
I was thinking the same thing when I found that site. It’s much easier to just pay the money ($15 I think?) and become a contributing member that way.
To get in on their ticket group you need to have been at donator status before 7/20 though.
its a $10 donation (recommended minimum). there’s a lot of good stuff going on there, and definitely worth the contribution.
i also stumbled upon the site and got turned off by the posting thing, but then i went back a few months later and decided to become active. man was i missing out! (this was more than a year ago) SSF is the best fansite everr. =)
i believe the restrictions were set in place so people from other fanclubs don’t join just to get in on the group purchasing. it does afterall, make more sense to do it the way they have set things up atm, especially if there happens to be a limit on quantity.
that said, let’s make the pink ocean more than just a mere block of seats.
Unfortunately it seems to be a trend that promoters of all concerts (not just SMTown or SNSD) have a common disdain for professional cameras. They don’t like regular folks taking nice pictures to compete with photographers they’ve contracted to take pictures for which they can sell or make posters out of, and we’re obviously not media personnel so they don’t want to allow unnecessary camera equipment inside. They will also cite security and terrorism reasons.
Even though I think they’re all BS reasons and I don’t agree with them, unfortunately it is what I’ve run up against on concerts I’ve been to elsewhere, these camera rules are consistent and they rarely allow exceptions. It hasn’t stopped me from trying though, not only at STAPLES in LA but at Oracle Arena in the SF Bay where I live. Opportunities to see the Lakers are rare for me, and being a Laker fan and an amateur photographer, I never pass up an opportunity to slip by security, but so far I haven’t succeeded.
Yes, but I think recording concerts is also a big part of the k-pop community that could have been respected here somewhat. As evidence of this, here’s a picture I took at the Wonder Girls in Toronto a few weeks ago:
Seriously – the crowd was an *ocean* of cameras. There must’ve been 200 people recording the entire thing.
Personally, I think they were missing out on the concert, but still. 🙂
SM ENTERTAINMENT! COME TO TORONTO! AND NOT JUST FOR YOUR WEIRD, KINDA RACIST AUDITIONS! AND LET US FILM YOU!
/end rant
Oh, and I love SNSD above all others, but I’ve got to tell you – Sun Ye is the most beautiful girl in the world. This smile could melt a mountain:
I think you misunderstood what I’m trying to say about cameras. It’s not that STAPLES Center and all other venues trying to hold a concert (any concert) are disallowing ALL forms of photography or filming. Cameras and video recorders are allowed as long as they’re not professional equipment capable of producing professional level images and videos due to the various business and stupid reasons I stated above.
From the picture of the WG concert, you can clearly see that every single camera in the picture is either a cell phone or a compact digicam – these will be allowed in STAPLES. A semi-professional DSLR with a 300mm zoom lens, however, is considered capable of producing professional results by the venue and therefore will be turned away. Here are the specifics from STAPLES Center website:
Cameras/Photography
No commercial or flash photography of any kind is permitted. Camcorders or any other audio/visual equipment is prohibited unless authorized by team/promoter or performer. Specifically, the use of the following equipment is not permitted:
* Lenses greater than three-and-one-half inches in length
* Telephoto or zoom lenses of any kind
* Interchangeable lenses of any kind
* Monopods or tripods
* Flash equipment of any kind
Anyone know which section the Soshified group is aiming to purchase? If we can’t purchase with them (I’m on the same boat of inactive members who can’t purchase with them), at least we can try to buy tickets at the same section or close enough to them.
according to soshified’s twitter:
@POWERHOUSELIVE How many FLR 1, FLR 2, FLR 3, FLR 4 seats, is power house selling, and they are all seated right?
-my assumption would be that they’re gunning for those seats on the floor. powerhouselive has yet to respond to this tweet (publicly, at least). either way, it wouldn’t hurt to try to aim for those ones regardless.
So i’ve read through most comments and most are definitely accurate… Cameras – DSLRs and any interchangeable lens is a negative. But regular cameras are okay. I’ve been to several events there and they do enforce it quite nicely 😦
If you can fake a media badge, who knows, you might be able to get away with it, don’t know how though.
SSF is one of the best fansites ever, just like SNSDKorean is one of the best fan blogsites ever! 😛
There will be plenty of people Soshi fans all over the place too, I don’t know about all the fan-types out there, but I’m pretty sure if you’re open to one group, they’d be open to like the rest, right? In the US anyway.
i wanna go because i live outside L.A., but it’s too expensive.
hmmm wut side of the stage is jessica usually on hahaha this is of extreme importance
the side of the stage that has fany on it. just buy as close as the stage as you can. =)
LMAO it is extremely important! (sica biased) I couldn’t contribute to the pink sea T.T but I got as close as humanly (sone) possible
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! If ANYONE has tickets on sale for this concert, let me know. Everything sold out in minutes and many people got ripped off including me and my friend who are traveling a very long way to see this concert. I’d be willing to pay extra, I’m looking for $60 tickets or higher, though $160 or $180 are preferred. You can email me at ConstellationWaltz@yahoo.com. Thank you so much!
I recommend this page: http://www.soompi.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=344239&st=0
Wait so what camras can I bring I have this flip but I like to take snap shots on it when I get to my computer I also have this little camra. What type of camra can I bring and can’t bring I don’t no??
your flip will probably be okay. camera guidelines are stated in the article. as long as it’s not a dslr and your lens doesn’t expand up to 3.5 inches it should be okay.
doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try though. ;D
LAWLS

@ Will O’Neill I was at the wg’s toronto club mod concert too XD
and i managed to sneak in my nikon d90 dslr camera XD
here are some of my pics
and @RagingXL
I am also going to SMTOWN XD ILUVIMYOONGIE XD
I plan on sneaking in my d90 again
but i’m afraid i cannot use the same method as the one i used at the wg concert.
What i did there was warp it around “clean” underwear and when they opened my bag i said it’s dirty/smelly/unwashed underwear. The bouncer didn’t seem to want to touch it LAWLS!!!!
AT sm town I am thinking of another way that might work…..
i pray it goes well, iluvyoongie XD
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4073/4785390665_4fe04cdc7d_b.jpg I took the pic on the left… doesn’t it remind you of kwon yul? =O same pose and everything, except that’s sohee LOL
