The musical is called Song of the Sun. It’s originally a Japanese movie/drama/novel. She’s going to be the female lead. The musical will open in May. And thanks to our commenters, the story line is about a girl with a skin disease making it impossible/hard to go out into the sun. And then there’ll be a boy (yes thers always a boy) who loves to surf and lives under the sun.

According to the internet people, the main female character has xeroderma pigmentosum, which in normal terms means they cant be in the sun.
So that means Taeyeon is gonna have beautiful moonlight scenes. As I wrote that, I just sold myself on it.
Does she have to sing about it? ‘Cos I can’t think of anything that rhymes with ‘xeroderma pigmentosum’

Song Of The Sun is a really beautiful and sad story. I’m confident Taeng will do really well in the role. But I’m so worried about her health.

It’s the story of a girl that has a very rare disease which makes it impossible for her to be exposed to the sun. So she sleeps in the day and is active at night instead. She goes out to sing every night because she wants to be a singer. One day she meets a guy and they fall in love with each other. But of course, her disease will make it hard for the two of them to be together.

OMG!! is it called “Taiyou no Uta” is japanese??!?! the drama which Erika Sawajiri acted in???? OMg that show was awesome. The main character plays a guitar n sings to her dream guy… so damn touching….
the main character has XP, cant go under the sun, and has a short lifespan, as her body will slowly degenerate. one day she spots a random guy outside her window and falls for him (he was being kind to a kitten lol). she then composes a few songs for him, they meet… etc etc etc. Wont spoil the story. haha

I can totally see Taeng in that role playing guitar and singing. And Taeng said she wanted to learn how to play guitar too!
Yeah! Totally! hope Taeng learns to play the song “stay with me” and “taiyou no uta” (coz those arent hard to learn, just 4 basic chords i think) . omg i will totally fly to korea just to hear her play a guitar n sing live.

OMG NO WAYYY!!!!! Taengoo is starring in one of my favorite movies!!! My baby YUI, one of my all time favorite jap. singer, starred in that movie so hearing this is just….wow!
For those interested, the movie came out first which starred the jap. singer YUI & the TV series starred Erika Sawajiri. Both good but it’s just a matter of “should I watch a movie or series?” thing.
Its true that taeyeon already had a lot of work but if she didn’t whant to do it she wouldn’t do it right?
I must be something she wanted to do.

oh awesome..i heard taengoo’s a fan of YUI’s songs too. I’m not sure how this is gonna be a musical though….cuz whenever i think of musicals and their songs they’re quite elaborate and show-y and Taiyou no uta is more subtle and straight-forward
