One of my favorite clips. I’m not usually into these mushy scenes but this was pulled off with such conviction and aplumb that I got sucked in. JiSeok made it very honest. Most guys can testify to that even if they don’t feel the same way towards Jessica.
I disagree with the lesbian cynics about Jessica’s attitude. Considering her usual restrained deportment, and perhaps being accustomed to being overlooked with Yoona, Tiff and the others are around, she probably was careful about expecting too much. Besides, she was sitting beside him and couldn’t turn or make an obvious expression while waiting for JiSeok’s announcement. Frankly, I doubt many people want to be in this situation when they first learn of someone’s romantic intentions.
The anti-JiSeok’s have someho ignore Jessica’s own confession — about wanting to marry someone like “Chief”.
I think they’d make a nice couple. And, as a guy, and based on this brief impression of JiSeok, I think he has a good character and would recommend him to Jessica. He is articulate — how he revealed his appreciation for her, her lips, and what he said when he handed her the gift — were things guys struggle to think of but never manage to.
I confess that Jessica was just one of the cute girls during the first year. But she blossomed the second year and joins SeoHyun and SooYoung as the ones that most capture my attention.
