It’s pronounced (to my general knowledge) poo-kett. At least that’s what my mom called it when we visited family there.
I’m not Thai, but I thought it was poo-ket. My friends like to pronounce it the inappropriate way and then giggle.

Suffice it to say: it’s not pronounced with an “F”. It’s not pronounced the way school kids and rednecks would want it to be pronounced. However, if you want to entertain yourself, the island named “Phi Phi” is pronounced (approximately) “Pee Pee”. But then, Korean for “rain” is “bi” which can sound to Americans like “pee”.
