The singer Lee Junghyun who has made a flashy comeback with a new album after 2 years and 7 months picked SNSD as her top rival.
Lee Junghyun appeared on KBS ‘Celebrity News’ on the 23rd and expressed her overwhelming thoughts on making a comeback in the national music industry. When the reporter asked how she was during the break, she replied, “I worked as a patriot of Korea in China. I earned lots of foreign currency also” and “I’ve gotten lots of fans due to lots of activity in China.”
Lee Junghyun who is facing her 14th year since her debut stated, “My rival is SNSD. But I think I have a stronger charisma” and “When I was that age, I was scary and interesting instead of fresh” as she reminisced about her debut period.
Lee Junghyun is making a comeback to the Korean industry with her newly released album.
The title song ‘Crazy’ was written by the hit song writer who wrote SNSD’s ‘Gee’. The writer, E-Tribe, was in charge of writing and producing the song and when the audition for the making of the music video was held, over 400 dancers signed up for the audition after just listening to the chorus part of the song. The song presents a strong and trendy sound. Also the song is a unique mix of R&B with hip-hop which was hard to come across in Korea and is something to be anticipating about.

lol then again I still stink with the Korean entertainment industry. But for someone who seems to have been in the industry for so long and picking a fresh group like SNSD as their rival, I think that says something about snsd (:

More info: Lee Jung Hyun is the singer that really blew up in the techno/dance scene. So much so that she made it hard for other singers to get big in that genre (for example, funny comedian Yoo Chae Yeong, you may know her from Star Golden Bell). Her popularity grew, even all the way to Japan, and many Chinese singers have done covers of her songs. She changed her style towards the ending of her career (well I say ending as in before her come back now) into a more Latin style, hoping to be as successful and compete with now balladeer, Beak Ji Young. She was an actress too (I think she was an actress first actually) but I never followed her in the movie/drama industry so I don’t know much about that. So anyway, she’s very successful but her music style is so different from SNSD’s, I highly doubt it’d be correct to compare them and have them compete.
Sigh, I’m SOOOO disappointed in this comeback. I didn’t like her comeback stage and the two songs she sang for it. I don’t even think I’ll bother to check out her album.

ehhhhh ;-; i didnt bother checking her out because she just didn’t seem interesting enough… and the pics i saw was a white face and dolled up in like marie antionette style.. which kinda freaks me out.. and she’s also old… OK with THAT said, i happen to like a lot of old singers but i think i mean she lacks CHARM… but omg -_- she said she has more charm than snsd.. power of 9!?!?

but yea like Maria put it best in saying she blew up the techno age in the early half of this decade. She captivated audiences with unique, striking, and powerful fashion, singing style, and performances. For example, for her debut song, “Wa” (“Come” in english), she had her mic on the pinky finger of her right hand. And so on and so forth, she did try even the cutesy, Barbie doll theme one time too (the Wonder Girls did a cover of her song with pink hairs and whatnot back whenever). So she’s quite an influential figure in the music industry or at least has been. I do not quite remember her reason for long haitus, but I do remember a lot of people waiting for her to come back.
Honestly, with her credentials, I personally think she may have the right be “cocky.”
This article makes her sound a bit more arrogant than it actually came out…because in the interview she also said she was slightly sad that when she came back to Korea her fan club manager had become the snsd fan club manager. Then the interviewer asked who she thought would be her rival and she replied “snsd who stole my manager” in a joking way. But yea it’s true that she has a very strong/charismatic stage presence, but she also said snsd was very cute and fresh.

Lee Jung Hyun was the lady that got me into Korean music in the first place. I heard Dala Dala and fell head-over-heals for Korean music, and it has now replaced my j-pop collection immensely.
I’ve become a k-fag since hearing her music.
