[Update] The release date of ‘The Boys’ has been postponed for reasons yet to be known (via Yurui912 & soshified@twitter) D: Whether this delay will affect the upcoming teasers, digital song release on the 4th or the Music Bank comeback on the 7th… we don’t know yet. T_T FALSE ALARM!? Distributors have retracted their changed release dates… we really do not know wtf is going on, but at the moment, take it as if the delay never happened. Apologies. The album cover kinda reminds me of the Into the New World. Also, if you look carefully at the mess frame surrounding each picture, there appears to be a small icon associated with each girl’s ‘fairy tale’ character. *squints eyes*

Look up “the Snow Queen” and “Thumbelina” on wiki. Both fairy tales by Hans Christian Anderson. The symbol for Hyo includes the lily pad.

it seems that the black-and-white cover has no tracklist while the other one has a tracklist. so both might be include in one album as a front and back cover…

I do think that the album art looks a little too elaborate, like some mutant form of their ITNW single album. nonetheless, I can’t wait for the music!

I thought of their debut album when I first saw the design too~! haha. I think all the mess going on in the background is to “hide” those icons but yet explicitly show them so we can see and gives us this mysterious feeling as to what their concept might be. SM is such a tease. I can’t waitttttttt

Yuri, is she the girl from the “the Red Shoes” fairy tale by Hans Christian Anderson or Cinderella?
The dancing theme for “the Red Shoes” is quite fitting though…..so leaning on that.
If Yoona does not need to fit the Fairy tale/folklore theme, then she would be the historic Joan of Arc as many have said..but then you lose coherence.
Only thing I can think of is Valkyrie (aka Angel of Death) from Norse folklore. But she doesn’t look very Viking goddess like and is wielding what seems like a French sabre. Then in Wiki it show that Norse and French folklore were indistinguishable. The dark concept is fitting for the “chooser of the slain” though.
SM…I give up. But I had fun looking through folklore.

About the fairies vs. vampires theme…did it occur to anyone that perhaps the fairy tale concept is for the Korean version of The Boys MV, and the vampire concept is for the English version of the MV?
haha oh yeah, my hunches were correct all right! prominent storybook/fairytale female characters alright! really really cant wait for the release of the full album. but i’m a bit pissed at the fact that it’s been postponed to a few more weeks. grr.. the agony!
