On February 14th, Sunny attended a press conference for the new SBS MTV’s “Music Island,” which is to be filmed on Jeju Island.  She said, “I will work hard in order to be the bridge of Hallyu communication.”

She added, “I think this program will be instrumental in contributing to the rise of Kpop fever as it is expected to be aired in more than 8 Asian countries. As a member of Girls’ Generation, a group that has been gaining benefits due to Kpop fever, I will work hard to take up this responsibility and play a much bigger role in this program. I shall give my all to make this program a success.”

Being her first time MCing alone, she said, “Honestly, I’m very nervous being a solo MC for the first time. There will be a huge number of audience as well as guests coming on the show. My heart is thrilled with excitement for the first recording session.”

The PD of the show, Kim JangWoo said, “I’ve produced music programs in many broadcasting stations but most of these programs are dull and stick to the same concept all the time. However, ‘Music Island’ is tailored to be a high quality live music show. We expect to present a lot of live performances on the show from idol groups who are spearheading the Kpop movement.”

And added, “We expect it to be a program which is a mix of live Kpop performances and talk show. It will be aired across 8 Asian countries to about 250 million households. In this case, I think the use of MTV’s network will serve as a good model for Kpop.”

The first shooting of the show also happened on February 14th at Tamla Hall in Jeju International Convention Center.  Many artists were at the first shooting including, IU, MBLAQ, FT Island, Dal Shabet, Jung Yeob, Rainbow, Block B, Lim JungHee and Sunny Hill.  The show begins airing February 29th at 8pm KST.

Good luck to Sunny and her continued success at MCing, solo this time!  And have strength (himnae!) with all that traveling back and forth to Jeju Island!  Talk about racking up even more air miles than before!
