I just spotted this translated article on the Web and thought that it warrants a re-post here on SK….
This is an open letter to the 9 ladies from an unknown SONE who recently passed away from a terminal illness. Full credit goes to the efforts of the various writers and translators, who took the time and effort to bring this piece of extremely thoughtful literature to the attention of the International SONE community. Kamsahamnida.
(Please read it and ponder the words of the original writer because it certainly puts into perspective the love that us SONEs show to the 9 Ladies).

The following is a blog/diary entry by a terminally ill SONE in July 2011, just weeks before SNSD’s solo concerts.
To: Girls’ Generation
You will probably never know who I am..
And you will probably never be able to read this.. ^^
But there’s someone who always diligently reposts my words so perhaps there is a chance.I first saw you… September 2007… such a long time ago, right?
I bet you guys must also cringe at how you were back then…
Up until then, I had never been a fan of anything…
So how did I end up liking you so much?I became addicted to cigarettes despite having been in ill-health
and I came to like you guys so much that I began to regret this,
When the first SONE fanclub membership was open… I wondered what the point of going that far would be.
To this day, I regret not joining… and last year, I could not because I came down with a sudden illness…
I regret so much that I couldn’t be more active in supporting you.
I realised too late how amazing it is to hang out with people, the SONE, who loved you and thought dearly of you as much as I did…
And 2008, when joy became horror… I had nobody to console or to be consoled by
But I stoically waited for you. And when it passed… and I saw the teaser for ‘Gee’
I cried silently.Thank you.. Thank you so much.. Thank you for returning to our side..
But as you began your activities and I came to see you more often…
I began to forget to take care of my own body..This would have been the first, and last, solo concert that I could have attended..
I’m sorry.. sorry that I don’t even have the strength to attend them now.From the beginning to the end… I love you all… I wanted to see you…
I have never said “Right now, it’s Girls’ Generation” to you…
And so from now on, as long as my eyes are open and I still breathe, I will keep regretting…I am not sad that I may have to go to America…
You guys are really famous now… no matter where I go, I can still hear news about you.To you… I am just one of the hundreds of thousands of SONE…
In a concert arena, I am just one of the hundreds of SONE chanting for you…
On your birthday, I’m just one of the the hundreds of SONE writing letters to you…Despite all that, I still like it all…
Because I feel your love…
I feel myself thinking so dearly of you, loving you…
Have I ever been a fan of anything this much in my life?
In the precious little time I have left, will I stop being this much of a fan ?

These really are the amazing people…
I don’t know if anyone else will see me like this, too…
But however I appear… but SNSD! You… all you need to know is this:
No matter where you are, no mater what you do…
We will be cheering you on.
Congratulations on your second solo concert… and I hope that you will stay healthy this year, too.

————-This person successfully got the tickets to the concert, but was unable to attend. This was because they had to go to America on July 23rd for a last-chance medical treatment, with the SONE saying that this may be the end of the road.
We have not heard from them since.I have been asked to spread this as wide as possible.

T-T may this Sone rest in peace. He/she will probably still be supporting and cheering on the girls from above..without having to worry about his/her health. Hope the girls will be able to see this letter even though they probably will be in tears after reading it.
btw, I think the quote on the bottom of this site: “If you’re still Girls’ Generation in the next lifetime, I will still be a S♡NE” rings true in this situation. I know that, though he/she is no longer here on earth, this Sone is still a Sone and will always be 🙂

i pray that everything in the best of him, althought we can’t conclude this sones is dead simply because we didn’t hear him anymore. However, if he or she is still alive then i ask the gods and goddess to hear my prayers to protect him or her and grant this person a second chance to live a healthy life and live his life to the fullest.
I can never became an ordinary sone since i have really fall in love with one of the member, and as i have promise to myself that no matter what will happen to this person i will forsake my life to protect her. I know that it might be foolish to say but i have no regret to stand strong on that choice til the end even it means that i have to stay single sine i don’t want to marry another woman just for any other excuse. Marrying another one just to fulffill a family obligation or society pressure is absurd, but most of average people ends up marrying someone that they don’t love.I refuse this kind of mediocre choices. If you sincerely love a person than even you don’t end up marrying her it doesn’t matter since the only thing that you care about is her wellbeing. That’s why i have choose to be alone in other to fully focuse to protect the person that are dare to me. True love have a heavy price to pay, but i’ll be glad to pay this price for that person.
For that i’ll pay the price to create the financial empire which will ultimately look after her well being even when i’ll be no longer there. My stewards will watch over her and her family if in the worst scenario i pass out like this sone. At least there is still something that will on my legacy to protect her.
Hey sones if any of you want to achieve something big in life than you should pay a price the price of not being an average person. Above all i respect all of you guys because each of us offer a different support and love to all nine of them. That’s why when all of you reunite together, your love will be much more powerful than what my future financial empire can bring because the difference my empire can only bring material solution, but the sones can go even beyond that stage which it is the spiritual by their constant support all of you have give love, support, courage and determination to all the nine girls which ultimatley i alone even with my stewards can never in my existence to create such power.

there’s so many pearl that exist in this world, some find the white pearl is the most precious other the pink pearl. From each of us deep inside of our heart we cheerish a pearl. personnally, the black pearl is the rarest and thus i cherishe it deeply. If one day sones you have find your pearl then make that pearl shine, protect it and cherish it. it is worth it since if you want to achieve something valuable in life and that means a lot to you then prepare yourself to walk on a difficult ground. Regardless even if comes from a rich family or a poor nothing in this life can be achieve by simply wishing it. You must create it in this material world.

More cheesy articles! I want more news, not fan letters!!! It was ok the first time but I’m kind of getting tired of it.
The main purpose of this blog is to ‘serve your soshi addiction’, and that encompasses more than merely news. (There are many other sites that solely post news articles) ‘Cheesy articles’ are our speciality. 😛 Yes, we report on news, but we also strive to highlight different elements of the Soshi fandom that might otherwise be forgotten. Whist it might be ‘cheesy’ to you, I ask that you show a little more respect to the dying wishes of a fellow SONE.
Please show some respect to a fellows member’s wish, have some humility and decency dude.
Something tells me he/she didn’t even read the letter before posting this very rude comment.
Amazing, this is the first time I realize that SNSD had filled almost all of our life, especially for someone like them.
I imagine when they struggling for their own life, SNSD is the only spirit for people like him/her.

While this letter and story behind it are really sad, there’s also a beautiful message underneath it all. He talks about the effect the girls had on his life, the fact that he wanted to change his unhealthy lifestyle just because of them (and regrets not doing so). It seems like the most important message he wants to convey to the girls is that they had a positive impact on his life. While he heard the bad news in 2008, what kept him looking forward to the next days were the girls and their activities. All his regrets, were centered around not being able to support the girls up close and being a part of the community.
Throughout his letter he also emphasizes the fact that he is among “hundreds of thousands” showing all of us, just how proud he is to be called a SONE. In his final paragraph he shows his love for the community and says “Sones who say I love you all forever, These really are the amazing people”.
Truly a SONE to the deepest depths of his heart. I hope that it all ends up well for him.

i’m kind of thankful tho because this SONE help many other fans of SNSD to never give up chanting on the girls. He/She has become one of the epitome for SONEs all over the world.
i’m sure that if ever SNSD heard of this they would cry and be thankful as well.

It is really sad, it is really a sad story, but still in the end,still he didn’t give up on being a sone among hundreds of thousand. it made me cry. this person is truly a real sone that loved the girls until the end.

It’s sad that he passed away i really wish he could’ve attended that concert before it happened. My heart goes out to the family and friends of the sone T^T as long as you never forsake ur soshi luv u will always be with us.

I thank you the person who wrote this letter. I too had never been a big fan of anyone. The SNSD has been my first and truely group who I can proudly say I am a fan. I never had a thought of attending their concert because I too felt that I’m just one in millions of fans. So, who cares? But after reading this letter, I thank you the words from a person who have given a very valuable advice. I am definitely going to attend an SNSD concert if they present themself in Los Angeles again.
