Further evidence has emerged on-line that proves, yet again, the popularity of our angelic 9.
A post entitled ‘World Map Indicating Kpop Idol’s Popularity Based On No. of YouTube Clicks’ was recently published on an on-line community website.
On the map were depicted the distribution of clicks around the world for videos of artistes such as SNSD, SHINee, 2NE1, Kara, etc. The density of the clicks in respective countries was represented in different shades of green.
Among the various K-Pop idols, videos of SNSD and 2NE1 seem to garner the most clicks throughout the world, rightly justifying their positions as the leaders of girl groups in Korea.
This latest poll result proves, yet again, that the popularity of SNSD transcends beyond the boundaries of Asia, spreading even to countries in Europe, North and South America.
SNSD DAEBAK !!!

Girls’ Generation JJANG ❤
TaeYeon wish have come true!!!!
SOSHI JJANG!!! 😀
our girls are on top ^^ hehe, and I like the picture that you chose to end this post 😀
SNSD HWAIHTING
SNSD did well. But i can’t help but notice so did 2NE1. SNSD has concentrated high votes in areas where there are tons of people. 2NE1 has got darker shades of green in alot of places SNSD barely touched on. I happen to be fans of both groups, so I find this interesting. Give it a year…SNSD will dominate everything. haha.
Hey I’m from Saudi Arabia, and they’re quite famous here.
SNSD is very very famous in the world.IN Viet Nam ,they ‘re very famous
Yes, they’re famous, but sadly I have to say it seems the afs overnumbered the sones here. 😦
SNSD really is the best girl group ever….jjang!
From the moment i watched the show which make me a fan
i always search for updates about these girls here
They are my first artist that i love the most!
SNSD, fighting! ^^
The picture at the bottom is making me go gaga.
o.o
Haha Africa has no love for SNSD, this goes to show that 2ne1 are the real rulers, they are closer to world domination than SNSD. Plus they chose GEE for SNSD which is a relatively old song and Lonely for 2ne1 that broke all records and is very recent. I hope SNSD cathes up though ^^
Yes, our ladies really dominate the world! New interview @ Japan
@Sara and Alviss, thanks for sharing your home country/location. I love reading on here where other Sone are from and learning first hand in this way how global the fan base is through this site. In fact i’d like to request for this post that everyone commenting here state where they’re from, just for fun.
I currently live in northern California U.S. but am originally from Hong Kong.
Well, the stats certainly don’t lie, and I’m slowly but increasingly convinced that SNSD (and 2NE1) are on their way towards complete world domination. However, I can’t help but feel that the number of clicks and views on their videos’ wouldn’t or don’t really justify their global popularity because I think there’s more to that than just clicks. Nonetheless, I’m still proud of them for accomplishing such a marvelous feat.
Anyway, after reading this, I remember some fans stating that TVXQ are the “Kings of K-Pop” or the “Leaders of the Hallyu wave”. Now, I don’t want to create any unnecessary disputes and there isn’t really any strong basis for comparison (because some of the reasons are all but sundry and unimportant, thus bound to create some form of discrepancy) between SNSD, TVXQ or any other popular contemporary K-Pop group. And because I know fans prefer to position the groups in sort of a “King and Queen, Prince and Princess” fashion so everyone’s happy.
However, I was merely wondering how fans would go about this topic, and I don’t plan to chastise any groups because I’m only interested in hearing and learning about people’s opinions and views on this… “touchy” subject.
Since I can’t read Korean, I was trying to figure out which 2NE! song produced their awesome global click graph. I thought it was going to be Fire, I Don’t Care, Go Away, Can’t Nobody… I even tried Lollipop. But those videos have click graphs that look far worse, and with their most viewed videos topping out in the low 20 millions (compared to 43 million plus for Gee).
Then I found it… It’s Lonely, which was posted just last month and has 8 million views already, and a global click graph that looks BETTER than the one posted above. Now this was a highly anticipated release, but the most important thing could be that more people are more aware of kpop in every corner of the world, even more so than merely 2 years ago when Gee and 2NE1’s earlier hits came out.
Now I wish other kpop groups nothing but the best in their overseas adventures. (If Wondergirls/BoA/Se7en had caught on in the U.S., maybe we would have seen a few more kpop acts come this way). And even if other groups outshine SNSD for the moment (Kara’s Girl’s Talk album I knew hit 300K sold in Japan 3 months from release… wikipedia now has it at 395k sold) then that is not going to make me admire SNSD any less.
GO SOSHI~! ^_^
@justaTip
well explained. i very much agree with u. it can be seen that Kpop is getting rather famous in Malaysia now. everywhere i go i can see well most malaysian having their fav korean band merchandise on them. say laptop skin, wallpaper, t-shirts, ringtones and many more.
and though i like Kim jong kook, Baek Ji Young and many more, SNSD has never been at my lowest or forgotten list. I love SNSD and Kpops.
best of all, i love the fans too.. ahaha everyone here is so sporting and supportive. Proud to be a Sone
Jason
I am a HUGE fan of theirs too but honestly, this post is a bit of an exaggeration. Plz let d gals take their own time!!
Look at the map, you know what, VN really love K-Pop ^^
I see Finland is dark green on the map. All of the youtube clicks are from me tbh.
Okay I am a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge SNSD fan! Seriously!
But I believe that 2NE1 is really getting more famous in other countries especially the ones outside Asia. I do understand since not everyone’s like us who’s up to what SNSD’s all about.
I think it’s a healthy competition since 2NE1 and SNSD are 2 totally different artists.
I just hope that YG becomes more open minded in making their artists work with other idols as well.
IT WOULD BE EPIC TO SEE 2NE1 and SNSD ON 1 STAGE PERFORMANCE!
Here south america…we love them…they are amazing…<3…
@jason in Malaysia & HyeAh in South America, thanks for chiming in…very cool!
@Setlet in Finland, love your comment…very funny! lol
With all the challenges our beloved Nine Angels are facing right now, i just thought it would be nice to have some global Sone Bond & SK Bond to help keep Soshi Bond strong in their time of need.
to Sooyoung, Jessica, and Sunny…stay strong and keep fighting! and get some much needed rest too please!
It’s natural for 2NE1 to have a wider range of appeal than SNSD. 2NE1 more closely follows the trends of American mainstream music which are followed globally, while a large part of SNSD’s discography is still bubblegum, which carries a stigma in a lot of cultures, XD
Their cool image in Japan is a step in the right direction to have more universal appeal. Although electronic music is still a smaller niche than hip hop/R&B, thanks to people like Lady Gaga and Far East Movement it is an acceptable genre to be mainstream. Plus the two ballads are perfect examples of the universal R&B sound.(Too bad they’re rather generic, sounding pretty much exactly like previous HIRO and STY ballads, and bore me:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoFQwVp3sZA)
To be honest though, I’m okay with that. As much as I love their new image because they get to show off their performance talent more, (Great Escape choreography was, well, great! And I don’t care so much about perfect execution so the lesser sync didn’t bother me at all) I do love bubblegum and one of the things that drew me to SNSD in the first place was that they weren’t utterly Americanized like 2NE1 and 4minute. The only upsides(for me) to their expanding out into other countries is getting to work with artists/producers from that country and making a wider variety of music, and the increase in probability that they will perform somewhere where I can see them in person. Otherwise, I kinda prefer idolling being a niche fandom.
I see my lovely country Peru darker green ❤ I hope those charts help us host a SM Town Concert or even better a SNSD Concert 😀 then i can full melt with pure cuteness.
PERÚ♥ LOVES SNSD♥!!!
SO NYUH SHI DAE!! I KNOW ABOUT SOUTH KOREA BECAUSE I KNOW ABOUT SNSD!! sorry my english y too bad!!
BUT.. WHATEVER 😀 -> I♥SNSD//PERÚ♥SNSD//SOUTH AMERICA♥SNSD
i dont really see this as the ultimate proof that they really known worldwide..snsd for sure…but 2ne1 i dont think so..the reason why their lonely mv beat all their previous mv in the diversity of the country who watch the mv is because lonely mv got promoted by youtube in popular section for about 2days..so if they want to objectively n fairly compare the mv..they should put fire not lonely..
No offence but I highly doubt if they are famous “worlwide”. This assumption seems a bit too good to be true
Mongols Love SNSD
SNSD are the Goddesses in S.E.A and no other idols can beat that ( Except maybe Super Junior)
When our angelic 9 wanna come down to S.E.A, especially to KL or Singapore?
Hello, I’m African.
I’m from Mozambique, an African country.
And I want to say that I love Kpop, and all the Kpop groups. But my favorite group is SNSD (of course).
Well kpop is not very popular in Africa, and I don’t know any person who like Kpop, and tha’t is very sad.
But thanks to the internet, I discover Kpop. And now Kpop is my favoryte music genre.
So I hope that Kpop being more popular in Africa. And SNSD too (to dominate the world)
I’am African and I looooooooveeeee Girl’s Generation.
PS: sorry for my english, (I don’t speak English very well)
Hi Laila, all it takes is one person like you to help K-Pop grow in your area. SNSD would be very happy to know they have a fan in Mozambique! =)
Kenneth, you can’t really say that snsd have achieved world-wide domination. These statistics don’t prove anything.
I live in Mexico, K-Pop is becoming really popular here!! My friends and I love Girls’ Generation!! they are the best!!!
I am a member of a native African tribe. When we hunt for food and gather plants and resources, we always listen to the songs of SNSD to brighten up our mood. SNSD is very popular within our tribe.
I am a Native American living in the Amazon Rainforest in a mud hut, and I can tell you SNSD is huge here in the jungle. This proves their global popularity.
