Keep January 8th open this weekend kids!
SME is sponsoring a fan meet up in LA this upcoming Saturday from 3 to 5 pm at the CGV Theater Cinema 1! The information is all in the picture. There will be a lot of special goodies provided by SM and other media/content provided by the company.
If you’re free fans, head on out 🙂 Enjoy and wear ya pink gear!
Credits to soshified/soy for the picture and info.
PS. From what I know, the girls will NOT be there.
Hmmm, it doesn’t actually say any of the girls will be there. Are we to assume they will be? They should really do one of these in Seattle…..
the girls won’t be there. SM is doing this fan meet-up to see how many sone can go to LA and with that decided if it’s available or not to make a SNSD concert there.
Better yet, they should do one at the East Coast (though, to be fair to the girls, it is a VERY long flight). -sigh-
I was just in the area over the winter holiday! But now that’s gone, and I’m back in New Jersey.
wow, nice >< wish it was a drivable distance lol
anyways have fun to all those who are going xD
O_O i wanna go… 😦 the only comfort is that the girls won’t be there. 😛
Agreed. On both counts ^^ I’m saving up in the hope that L.A. hosts SMTown again, or really anything involving the girls 😉
I live in L.A., I want to go but looking at the date…I doubt the girls will actually be there (who knows it could be a surprise). As busy as they are, I don’t think SM would just fly them all out here. I’ll keep an eye on this one, see if I can. But it also is under working hrs. SUCKS 😦
O lawd this looks so fun and so worth it yet its just too far 😦
I wish they would make one near where i live in Montreal tho
Even if the girls won’t be there sounds fun!
Why don’t they ever have anything like this in Canada/Toronto 😦
hmmm LA you say?
WOW, I REALLY would LIKE to attend one of these events just to feel the “ATMOSPHERE” and get the free gifts 😉 😀 !!! Too bad it’s half a continent away for me 😦 . Only consolation I suppose is that the ladies will not be there “in person” in all probability 😉 . Who knows, perhaps SM Entertainment may arrange a video-conferencing session with the “9” just to “spazz” the fans out BIGTIME !!! Now wouldn’t that be something 😀 ?!!
omg i wish they could have one of these in toronto too!!!
O_O i wanna go… the only comfort is that the girls won’t be there. x2
I doubt their gunna be there lol
Orange County here, so it’ll be an hour drive, but I have work the whole day 😦
Hopefully someone can get photos/videos if SM decides to fly over the girls. Maybe Tiffany and Jessica will take the weekend for a vacation and SM planned this event to coincide!! One can dream…
noooooooo, everything is always in LA. no fair *hump*
haha hope sones that are going will have a blast!
SUCKS TO LIVE ON THE EAST COAST 😦
Anyone here from Northern California planning on going?
No fair!!
Why is everything always in LA?!
Why can’t it be New York or DC for a change?? \:
Why can’t this event happen it singapore ? 😦 haha
Yeah, why not 😉 ? Perhaps we can dream that the K-Pop night organizers take note of this fact and schedule a SNSD fan-meet / concert here in Singapore this year (2011) 😀 😀 😀 !!!! After all, a fair number of K-Pop acts have been coming / are coming / will be coming to Singapore to perform this year. Why not the girls 😉 ?!!
come to boston ): ! LA is so far away ~ ! atleast fany gets to visit her family …..
i just noticed . i always go on SK but i always feel lazy to log on and comment lmfao . sorry sk !
when you`re not busy at the fan meet (tho i bet you guys will be gushing over the girls) , tell them to take care , eat right , stay healthy , and take a long vacation ! also , boyfriends ? ;]
I have seen too many people complain about all Kpop events being in LA and I want to try to explain it, hopefull it won’t piss anyone off. I think there are some significant reasons why LA is always the default location for any large scale Korean music/cultural events. First of all, SM Entertainment’s USA office is located in Los Angeles, that makes the logistics of organizing concerts like SMTown and events like fanmeets a lot easier. Second, Los Angeles is home to the largest Korean population in North America, not only that, Southern California and surrounding areas have a very large Asian population. Currently, and unfortunately, Korean music is a lot more popular among Asian Americans than non-Asian Americans, this is based on personal experience and my own observation at SMTown LA. Please don’t be offended if you’re a non-Asian Kpop fan, fact is, you are still of the minority. And if you’re an Asian Kpop fan outside of Calfornia, please don’t take offense either, the fact is, there are simply more people like you in California than wherever you may be, East Coast, Mid-West, the South, or Canada.
As a promotor and organizer of an event/concert, all you want is to have the largest turnout possible, and SM Entertainment is banking on the statistics that holding an event in LA will be much more lilkely to succeed than doing it anywhere else simply because of the demographics. If, hypotethically, SM chooses to do this in New York, and the turnout is less than stellar, it will only hurt the chances of possible future SNSD events in North America. After all, SM Entertainment is in the business of making money and making sure their artists receive the best reception possible. They aren’t exactly doing this to make you and me happy, so I’m sorry to say, these events will continue to be held in LA for the forseeable future. I think for SMTown to even come to LA was already a huge blessing, it’s a lot more accessible to people in North American than Korea or Japan per se. I’m not from LA either and it’s difficult to accept the reality. But, as many have mentioned, it’ll be awesome if you can be there, but if not, be there in spirit to support fellow SONEs because something really good may come out of this depending on the turnout. If and when a real SNSD event materializes, then we can start making the effort to be there and cheer for the girls.
Why cant they have it in Malaysia thats what i say.
If i knew back then i would have hop on a flight to Taiwan to see their concert.
Very few people will turn up to sm entertainment events in the east coast.
most non-asians in mideast and east coast, let alone the whole of U.S, don’t listen to kpop. they mainly care where most koreans are, and that’s in california.
maybe if snsd sang in english, their popularity may go up in U.S, if they like their style.
I wish I could go but I live in Canada >.<
i really wanna be there… DX But I’m all the way in Singapore. Bleh XP
100% wana be there but haya to far far away….huh wish they also do it in Brunei….please-please come to Brunei…i’m dying to attend it… 😥
Being in Brunei your best hope is the prince like them and throws a free concert for all again LOL.
Great. I live in LA, lucky I don’t have work on Saturday. Problem is, knowing the schedule, probably not too many people able to be there. I’m a grown adult straight male. I don’t think I’ll ever wear pink. I will probably stand out among the few that will show up there (due to the schedule). I just want to go there and ask why they didn’t have an SNSD concert in Los Angeles. I think they are good enough to go solo and will sellout the seats by surprise. I mean really, if they had a solo concert, won’t all of the SONEs from different cities in US come? That’s all I wanted to go there for, is to convince SM to give SNSD a solo concert tour in US cities, at least one in Los Angeles where the biggest Korean community is. Still scared going there this Saturday.. people will probably think I’m a pervert.. -_-;;
lol isn’t it just a fan meetup? and even if people call you a pervert, tell them Taeyeon is as well 😀
Oh yeah, Taeyeon likes sunbaes, no? Thanks for making me feel a tiny bit better.. 😀
*Epicard Facepalm*.
Calling all SONEs’…. Who happen to live to near or around the LA area.
I don’t complain too much on what, when or where fan meetings occur at a fixed or spontaneous location, but considering how many fans there are internationally, no matter what, you’re pretty much predilected of anything whenever it comes to events like this on such a scale.
If you hold a fan meeting in any area, other areas might be left out due to the inability of us humans to achieve omnipresence without the use of technology. But even then, you can only reach to a certain extent before you hit the limit that contrasts on the actual presence (Literally being there) against those watching the fan meeting streamed live, the feeling just won’t be the same when you add in the variable of actually being there and watching it from a screen.
In short, you have to make certain sacrifices. The fact is, SM wants to maximise the amount of revenue, attention, potential, recognition that they and their artists get, what better way than to hold it in a foreign country that has the largest percentage of Asian Americans, demonymically speaking.
Sure, it may be unfair considering how LA is where all the hip is happening whenever it comes to Asian Americans, K-Pop, SNSD and more, but when you take in the facts, it’s a little bittersweet to know, but then again, we can’t change it and will be glad in due time, it’s coming from somewhere without inconsistency.
Every advantage has a disadvantage along with it.

I live in seattle too…
i live in New york it would be fun to do one in newyork but on by fans if big enough we could raise snsd awareness in central park or something people could do covers of gee hoot etc it would be fun LA is really far and to expensive for me to in such short notice
I believe I read over on Soshified that the east coast may be getting an upcoming event as well, so stay tuned…..
I always wonder what sort of turnout the girls would get if they did solo concerts in the US. This is probably just a test by SM Entertainment to see what sort of fan base there is in different locales – and I’m sure they will use that information to determine if holding a concert in that city is even feasible. It would be embarrassing to schedule a concert and then not sell any tickets so this is a good way to quietly test the waters. Make sure if you’re a SONE anywhere nearby you attend and bring lots of friends with you 🙂 The higher the turnout the more chance of you seeing repeat events or maybe even a concert. We shall see….
I’d love to attend, but the hop from the Uk is a big one.:::sighs:::
I have the feeling I’m never going to meet them. T_T
I have an idea.. why don’t they have an SNSD concert during spring break? That way more ppl will be available, especially college folks and grad students (ok, yeah, i’m old..) can go to the concerts too…
Hehe, I would guess you’re probably half my age.
hah. now that someone else admitted to probably being older, i’m also likely to be a tad older than you too. and I live in L.A.
I keep telling myself, “it says you get gifts and stuff.” and hey, I’m all for getting free stuff, right? That’s all it is. I’m just a fan (who’s a bit older) showing up to get some merchandise and see what’s going on.
also, I have a pink shirt for some reason, and I’ll probably wear it. “if” i go. but i’ll wear a jacket over it. ’cause, you know, it’s cold out these days.
hmm . i wonder , if SM could get a survey and see how many sones live where … ?
@Etilla . i do too . but i hope i`d get to see them once in real life , before i die . lmao
@jameslinjr . as long as you love doing something , or loving someone , even if they never met you and you`re a fan . it`s not wrong … lol . being a fan doesn`t have rules , you don`t need to by old , young , male , or female … (tho i do think outside of korea there are more female fans . ) just keep … supporting and loving :]
OH WOW!! This is great!!! How lucky for the people in LA!!! This is so cool!!! Oh wait… the girls WON’T be there!?!?!?!?!? Oh ok, phew, breathes sign of relief, no need for jealousy or envy…… i think……
so bad coz im at the other side of the world…..T.T
anyway, have a great time to those who will go!
SNSD, fighting!! ^^
hey guys! I’m going to this event but I don’t know where is the best place to park a car? Can anyone knows some place to park near the CGV theater?
I was also worried about the parking but the place apparently has free parking according to google maps.
How disappointing. I drove an hour, got there at 2:30pm-ish, was denied because I needed a ticket and they were all gone. Only 250 seating I was told and about 500 ppl showed up by that time, not counting the SONEs that is still coming. I didn’t even get to make any statement of any sort to show SM they should have an SNSD concert here in LA and they will make bank.. drove home deflated for an hour… Apparently the management team notified the LA staff too late to set up a decent place for us SONEs.. >.<
yeah, I hear ya. the thing was just announced like on Monday, right – like what you said on that last line? it’s a shame it was mishandled like that, but i guess it’s just one of those things. that poster/announcement graphic made it sound like… well, anyway, i was surprised too.
Here’s to the Girls, though. “Fighting,” and all that. Well, hopefully the right people learned what they needed to about the local fan scene.
so, what was it like in there?
I know what you mean JamesLinJr! I was late (30 minutes) and by the time I got there the staff told us that it was jam packed and there was just no way of letting more people in 😦
Apparently they watched some behind the scene stuff and people got to win calenders. They were giving out free stuff too.
Oh and I heard that Sunny’s sister was there!
Well, like Kenneth said, at least 250 SONEs got to enjoy themselves. I believe Sunny’s sister was there because when I was talking to the guy at cinema 1 entrance, she came out of the door to tell him something. I knew she looked soooo much like Sunny’s sister, dressed in a nice black business suit/outfit, but I didn’t say anything because what if I were wrong, cuz afterall, I’ve only see her in 1 picture. But now that you mentioned it, I’m pretty sure it was her. She had the same look as in the picture I saw about SNSD’s siblings.
Any one of the lucky 250 SONEs care to post what they saw? Thanks.
Well, at least 250 SONEs got to enjoy themselves that day 😀 !!! Hopefully, SME took note of the overwhelming response to this last-minute fan-meet event 😉 .
