Edit: Boss here, added another rumor at the bottom!
Edit: dread here, fixing the post up cause it was rushed
I know a lot of sones are already under the impression that SNSD will be promoting in Japan, but I’m not going to jump that band wagon yet.
However, according to bestiz on twitter…
I’m going to wait for a confirmation, but before I get any, I’m just going to stay indifferent.

[RUMOR] SNSD might be going to Japan as a subunit. 5 goes to Japan, 4 goes to China to basically form SNSD-M
we’ll find out soon enough
I have to say..this is the least cutest rumor I have EVER heard. -_- But its a rumor, so lets just read it and for now, don’t let it stay on our minds!
Who’s bestiz?
lol it is a site… XD
Thats good i think the girls will really take over asia.
I think all korean groups at one point go to do premotions to japan i know that big bang was there last year
i think it would be definately a success. See how popular just one taeyeon came to singapore.+_+
hoping they would also come in the philippines!!!
=D
so… bestiz is the real account of sooyoung?
yah…i’m hoping they’ll visit the philippines!
Haha~maybe they can debut in cambodia!
not so looking forward to a Japanese debut … but i will support them.
OK, please excuse my ignorance……
When a Korean group debuts in Japan, do they come up with new songs and sing them in Japanese? And then also sing their old songs in Korean at performances in Japan (like in Shanghai)? Only a few of the girls speak Japanese right?
What percentage of Japanese speak Korean? What percentage of Chinese (Shanghai or similar area) speak Korean?
I.E. – Are languages taught in the schools and prevelant? For example most high schools in the USA only offer Spanish and French and you’re usually not fluent in it when you’re done.
Just curious, TIA.
Its quite common for Koreans, Japanese and Chinese to have a basic knowledge of at least one of the other language. Especially someone in the entertainment industry. eg Sooyoung can speak Japanese, Seohyeon and Hyoyeon can speak chinese… It makes it easier that the languages are all somewhat linked, ie all have some relation the chinese. Before their overseas debut, most artists learn the language first. eg, DBSK can speak japanese.
If i’m correct, i do believe that in south Korea english is a common second language taught in schools. In addition many can speak chinese and japanese to varying degrees.
The level of fluency is probably higher than second languages taught in the US (from what you’ve said). In most asian countries, second languages are taught from primary school or kindergarten, so most will be able to speak the language after their done with high school.
Although this is definitely not a given for everyone. But most kpop, jpop aftists put in extra effort to learn whatever language needed before making their foreign debut.
I hope that i’ve somewhat answered your question. 🙂
oh yes, and sometimes a new album with entirely new songs are made, in the different language. Or remakes of thier previous hits are done. eg Wonder Girls, KARA
Interesting, thanks for the reply.
woot, im hoping for a new album with new songs 🙂
i hope they will come a big sucess all the girls hwaiting and i hope thay yoona will meet her ideal man kimure takuya haha
no 😥 that means less snsd news on kpop sites. and no more broadcasts of snsd on tv for some time…hopefully they will be a great success in japan but come back soon after they’re done promoting!snsd hwaiting~~~
Many Kpop sites still covered DBSK’s work in Japan… and I’m pretty sure they have TV in Japan too!
It’s not like they’re going there permanently. In the mean time, let’s just hope Soshified get some Japanese translators.
Wait so will they sing in japaness then??????????
Lets hope they stay there till July (or even August) if they do go because I’m going to be in Japan at that time. ^^
subunit….
That would only be to premote on those countrys, as long the girls dont split up and still are toghter on korea it isin’t that bad.
Still i hope the rumor ain’t true
Hmm. As long as the girls come back together as 9 its all good!
No separating the group please. 😡
i also heard rumors(from soompi forum) that they are separating the groups so they can promote in Japan and China….
this is really bad….
NONONONONONONONONONONON…I WANT 9 FOREVER……9 FOREVER…SM PLEASE DONT SEPARATE THEM…..
What wait a minute, taeyeon came to Singapore before? And I didn’t go watch her?!?!
Ooh, here’s a good question: if they do happen to break off into two groups, which girls would go to Japan and which ones would go to China? And who would lead the group that Taeyeon’s not in?
I love SNSD and I support them no matter what but I think one of the things that makes them Asia’s No.1 Girl Group is because there are 9 of them all together and it’ll be sad to see them as groups D: But it’ll be more sad if all the royal couples were in seperate groups 😐
wait what ….. 2 groups now im not buying it.
SNSD taking over the world!!! but in 2 groups? That’s just wrong.
noooooooo i can’t see SNSD break up into 2 groups !!!! noo i hope these are just rumours!!!
Dude, there’s no way you can split up SNSD. I won’t allow it. Hahaha 😀
Seriously though, if it was only for promotions, I’ll be fine with it, but if you had something like SNSD-M and SNSD-Japan, where they’d be apart from each other, doing seperate things, for waaaay too long…that’s just not fathomable for me.
And I think they’d make a better impact if they promoted as a COMPLETE 9-MEMBER GROUP.
ewww i hate the idea of sub groups! SNSD is all about the power of nine! they can’t just split up the group like that! i know they’ll still be a group as a whole but still it means promoting as sub groups. even during the times when yoona wasn’t there b/c of dramas or even any members that weren’t on stage performing it was weird. NOOOO i need all 9 members performing together. this is one of the worse rumor ever!
I want SNSD-M NOT JAPANESE~
Oh God, please no…
I wouldn’t really mind if the sub-group is for Korean market, but to think that there’ll be SNSD-M and SNSD-J who promoting in two different country is just too much… ;__;
sub unit ??
not really a bad idea if it means that some member will hv more singing lines^^
i wonder who will be in japan ?
sooyoung,seohyun
china ? hyoyeon
other, i dunno.
but i prefer all 9 stick together 😮
~soshi bond~
i think, girls more sensitive than boys,
they must be sad T^T
I don’t want this to happen at all…but…
Sooyoung for Japan
seo and hyo for China (they have a better grasp at chinese)
If sme were to ever make this happen that seems more logical, but I prefer it if they just pick one countrya nd send them all there, bad enough they’re going to promote somewhere else but to split them up? *shudder*
I hope it’s just a rumour. I don’t want them to be a sub unit group like Super Junior or After School. Because it won’t be the same anymore. I want all of them to debut in Japan not China or Taiwan. I’m sure they will be as famous as DBSK if they stick together. Oh ya, another thing I will HATE SM if this rumour is true
Rumor 1:
I love that Soshi is going to have an original Japanese language song to debut with.
Rumor 2:
I don’t want the girls to be split up like that. I thought that SM would debut them as all-nine Shoujo Jidai in Japan, party for 5 months, and return to Korea. 😦
Like another poster said above, I’d be more accepting of the idea if it were only for promotional purposes. On the business end, SM probably factored in a J/C split when forming SNSD, especially since news of SJM came shortly after SNSD’s debut. But I keep thinking back to what Tiffany said about no sub-grouping in Soshi.
Ugh… I hope Rumor 1 is true and that Rumor 2 stays a rumor.
hate subgroups…-.-
I’m against this idea. I hope they stay authentically Korean.
i’m not sure i like the idea of dividing them. 😦 it’s just not that thrilling without all nine. but whatever happens, we’ll all support them. 🙂 but.. yeah, it’ll be A LOT DIFFERENT. >_<
I’m not in favor of this. I hope they remain authenthic and the same as they started -as 9. Though at times, 1 or 2 of them have been away due to scheduling conflicts, I just hope they are rooted to KPop and not into CPop or JPop. Why must SM make them follow every venture?
I think they should continue staying in a big group… Unlike Super Junior, they have lots of groups. And it makes their schedule clash with others. Should they change and have a sub-unit, then SNSD(original group) won’t have a lot of albums.. It won’t be a good idea although it will promote their songs as well as themselves..
They should stay as one. Aah well, I love ’em no matter what.
hopefully they won’t go with the subunit idea.. it won’t be the same.. the crowd won’t experience the full power of 9..
no!!!!!!!!!!pls no sub group! T.T
i hope they will not split into subgroups
i always want to see them perform as a 9-member girlgroup ❤
i can die now… and I can die for the last rumor too..
SUX!!!!!!!!!!!!!
okay… one more comment.. i have to let it out
SUBGROUP?!! SEPARATION! HELL NO! 9 !!!! 9 9 9 9 9 9 and only 9 T___T!!!! wtf, i sear i will haunt down the SM people who decided this if it’s true -.-
WHAT!?!?!? Soshi-J and Soshi-M. That’s outrageous how can they separate the girls!!! I mean promoting in different countries is excellent but you can’t split SNSD. It’s bad enough that they did so much damage to SuJu. I know Sooyoung is fluent in Japanese and Seohyun is fluent in Madarin I believe.
i think its a good idea , to have more exposure , for each individual members will learn more about themselves outside of their comfort zone , and fans experiencing snsd who will become power house group . whatever it is, snsd is a group that will not disappoint their fans.
I want a brand new song, but I really hate the idea of SNSD-M and SNSD-J…. what the heck? Promote all 9 girls together!
————————————————–
But if they’re split… my guess would be:
Japan
– Sooyoung: without a doubt
– YoonA: Her “pure” image will be a winner in Japan for sure
China
– Seohyun: Sure, Yuri and HyoYeon lived in China, but Seobaby is probably the most studious.. and her pronounciation is best.
– Tiffany: I am almost positive Tiffany will be in China due to her popularity there. If Fany was still with her debut image, she’d win BIG in Japan, but she’s changed.
Unsure
TaeYeon – Needless to say, Tae would bring the group to success in either country. I see Tae making it big in Japan, but then I can imagine SM sending her to China too since the market there is harder to pentrate as a Korean singer.
Jessica: I’m wondering if they will split up Tae and Sica, but I think Sica can end either way….
Sunny, HyoYeon, Yuri: These 3 I seriously have no clue. I know most of you will assume Hyo will go to China, but I can see her earning more popularity for the group in Japan. I also see more success for Yuri in Japan, but she also might end up in China with Tiffany… I don’t know, assuming mucore schedule and all that good stuff. Lastly, Sunny????
This is just my two cent, I don’t want to see them split, but if they have to, I better get my JeTi.
Hmm, Japan puts more emphasis on talent than China does, so Hyo and Tae would go well over there. Soo has her japanese experience and the fact that she used to be in a japanese singing duo would get SNSD some attention for sure. Sunny would be a hit in Japan. She’s got MOE.
I agree Seobaby would do well in in China, she also has the kind of looks they like there. Yul would probably be more popular in China than Japan as they’re less conservative meaning she could blast the sexy rays and all. Jessica’s definitely got the looks that are popular in China, but her doll-like-ness would go well in Japan too.
Honestly, Tiffany’s the one I’m wondering about.
My opinion is that it’s harder to get into the Japanese market…There are hardly any girlgroups that are big except AKB…Something, they’re the only girls that I know are topping the charts. And it took BoA and DBSK to make it big, they both took a year or so until they blew up hella big. The Chinese market is more accepting of Koreans…That’s where most kpop promotions take place first because it’s easier because there are so many people there that Re into kpop. And if they do go, I know for sure that they aren’t gonna make it big right away in Japan, In the Chinese market, I’m sure they will make it big…With hard work and fluent Japanese, they can be as big as BoA and DBSK but keep in mind the hard work these two artist put into their Japanese careers before making it big. Look at BigBang for instance, they’ve had a hard time and they’re somewhat sucessful there, I just hope that these girls are ready, because I’ve watched BoA’s documentary, there were plenty of times where she cried and wanted to see her parents, she hurt her toe if I’m not mistaken nd couldn’t even dance but still didn’t get to rest a little, she was lonely, I just hope it doesn’t take a toll on them as it did on BoA…But on a bright side, BoA became something, all her hard work paid off, wish these girls goodluck and I hope they make it big as there two hardest working sunbaenims.
Aww. I’m happy but kinda sad at the same time.
They won’t be like other groups and never come back right?
They’re splitting the girls?!?! Nooooooooooo!!
Forever 9!! They’ll miss each other!
Yep Soofany i agree.
If they are splitting the girls JeTi better be together!
hmmm.. thinking back, for promotion purposes splitting the group isn’t that bad.. as long as Yoona gets to go to Japan though, she has to meet that Takuya guy..
This is by far the worst rumour I have ever heard. =[
Guys, SMEnt has f(x) if they need a Chinese promotion. I mean, they have Victoria and Amber who are both Chinese, and Victoria also speaks Chinese. So I’m pretty sure SNSD would not need to really promote in China, let alone break up the group to promote in different countries at the same time.
Anyway, I’m glad that the girls have gotten a well deserved break. I wish I had a vacation right now actually too. And I’m really excited to see them promote in Japan. Hopefully some really nice Japanese songs will be made and hopefully Taeyeon will get a solo on the album. Her version of the PCD song on Asia Tour was amazing vocally. She really needs to shine for a bit.
Right now, it’s Girls’ Generation!
Bestiz always kinda awed me but after that konglish, they’re kinda cute. XD
Sub-units? Nuuuuuuu~ T^T Please nu!!
I was pretty sure SM would never push SNSD to promote in Japan. They’ve got SuJu M there, and Jang Liyin, plus my sneaking suspicion than f(x) will go over there eventually. With Japan, DBSK’s gonna be out of the game for the while and BoA’s the going back to Korea soon…
I’m not against SNSD promoting in Japan, and I think I’d even get used to the idea of complete relocation with time, but sub-units is a NONO.
PWRF9! T^T
Whatever happens let’s just continue to support them. =)
Sub-grouppings is not a bad idea at all. =)
At first I don’t like the sub-gouppings idea either.
But when I saw this post, My thingking just changed. =)
“you should accept what will happen to SNSD in the future guys~
wag nyong sbihin magpapatalo kayo sa ELFS na todo support prin even n ngkroon ng subgroups ang Super Junior
[Translation: Not Available =P]
Sones love SNSD no matter what will happen to their career ^^” – Quoted fro Emerson @ Soshified PH
And one more thing, they & we can’t even do a thing about sub-grouppings. That’s what SME likes. =P
Well, if they are going to make sub groups, I bet Taeyeon and Jessica will not be in the same group. Might as well split the main vocalist right.
Seohyun, I think she’ll be with Jessica because Taeyeon and Seohyun have the same kind of voice so might as well split them up. She actually covered for Taeyeon when she was busy with her musical.
Surely Sooyoung = Japan then Yuri and Hyoyeon = China.
Yoona will be with Sooyoung probably, splitting the lead dancers.
As for Tiffany and Sunny, I think they will be in the same group as Taeyeon. They’ll complement with the latter’s voice.
This is only just my point of view.
But if I will base it on Super Juniors sub-groups, i don’t really know.
Well, Super Junior M is composed of all the main/lead vocals of the group.
if they leave to promote then some other girl group will take over the charts but its somewhat okay because it gives them time to prepare for a great comeback. when they said 5 i assumed the 5 lead singers. yoona is good to go both ways. sooyoung in japan of course. i read somewhere she was apart of a girl group there. as for yuri, tiffany, teayon. its pretty hard. because of their photo i saw in the samsung promotion. i assumed that they stood out. they would be recognized. as for jessica it would be whatever. she could go both ways. but it depends on her popularity with with both countries. i vote tiff, yuri, teayon, hyo (kind of) to go to china. lets face it hyo’s dancing skills would benifit a lot in japan. seo, sunny, yoona, jessica, sooyoung for japan. but i sort of dont care for jessica much in either. i rather hyoyeon be in japan.
