OH wow. This is so depressing, I dont meet any of the requirements..

S.M. Ent are calling SNSD supporters to sign up for the Official Fanclub. Fans will have until the 23rd of this month to apply.

I was looking at the notice that they had posted about it and there are all these requirements you have to meet in order to apply, one being you have to have a Korean registration number, another, that you’ve attended over 10 SNSD broadcasts or events.

Hrm…you have to be a pretty hardcore fan. I’ve been to about 5 events with SNSD over like 2 months and I seriously had to check their schedule several times a week just to know where they would be and when. -_-” Obviously SM are only interested in attracting the hardcore fans who are willing to spend money/time to support their artists. (If you were working/studying full-time you really wouldn’t have time for soshi stalking..)

  9. Oh my. It sucks that all these fan clubs had stupid deadlines. Ive been trying to join Kiss ME (U-kiss) but their deadline was like 2 years ago. when I didn’t even know about them… >_<

  36. I am a huge SNSD fan as well as Wonder Girls, 2NE1, missA.
    Recently I have heard a disturbing news about SNSD’s new single call Mr. Taxi
    I am haring that it won’t be released in Korean. I am worried that SNSD is becoming a J-Pop
    You know, Wonder Girls sang their songs in English and it was total failure!

    K-Pop is popular all over the WORLD. That is right! They love K-Pop even though they don’t understand the lyrics.
    Kids in Europe and Americas are learning (or want to learn) Korean language and its culture because of music and dramas. I have seen, through You Tube, news segments regarding K-Pop in Brazil, America, South America and of course Japan. So it begs the question. Why are they trying to be different?

    Now, let me ask you this: Did Beatles sing any of their songs in Japanese or German or Korean? NO! But we loved their songs. We love them so much so that Korean singers sung their songs in Korean.

    Why is it necessary for SNSD to sing in Japanese or English or any other language for that matter? I have heard SNSD singing their songs in Japanese and quite frankly it did not sound right. KARA has now become a J-Pop.

    I am not downgrading Japanese or English. But here is my reason:
    Every country has its unique culture that outsiders can not truly express. They may imitate but they can’t be Koreans.

    SNSD is Korean. The songs and the lyrics are used to express Korean feelings, culture and their soul. You are trying to turn that into something different and it won’t work in the long run. I suspect that SM Entertainment is motivated because of money.

    SM, Where is your pride and swagger?
    You may receive initial backlash from Japanese recording industry but if you stick to your principles, you will receive respects and supports from the public, even from Japanese and especially from Americans.After all, they are the ones, who is buying the records. In America, we love originality.

I am currently in Helmand, Afghanistan with the US Marines and we have our annual celebration this November in Las Vegas, Nevada. I want to invite Tiffany to accompany me, but have no way to reach her…what can I do?

  42. @Erin: I guess you may be right about singing within your own culture, but you can’t really use the Beatles as an example. In the 60’s, there was little contact with other cultures because there was no internet. It was usually thru newspapers and TV that the world experienced Elvis, The Beatles, etc. I have been watching K-pop for about 12 years, and love it even more. When Kara was born, I fell in love with Kim Sung-Hee, the original lead singer. Their style changed to keep up with the rest. Now they have expanded to Japan. That doesn’t mean they will homestead there like BoA. Rain has been all over, but didn’t do too well in the US. I think I love K-pop so much because of the unique style, and that most songs have some English lyrics. And, of course, the talent and beauty of the girls!! I recently watched the 2011 Seoul Osaka Music of Heart concert, and found just about all songs were in Korean, not Japanese. SNSD jjang!
