SMTOWN LIVE WORLD TOUR to be Held at America’s most Prestigious Arena, Madison Square Garden, in New York on October 23rd!
Heart of American Pop, New York, has Already Thrilled, Following Seoul, LA, Paris and Tokyo
Proving SM’s Global Power!
SM artists’ joint concert, SMTOWN LIVE WORLD TOUR, will be held at Madison Square Garden (New York) which is considered as the most prestigious arena in the American pop industry.
SMTOWN LIVE WORLD TOUR has been fascinating music fans all over the world by holding successful concerts in Seoul, LA, Tokyo, and Paris and is expected to captivate music fans in America by performing at Madison Square Garden (in Manhattan, New York) on October 23rd for 15,000 audiences.
Especially, Madison Square Garden is regarded as a ‘Dream Stage’ by pop stars in the world and has held various world-renowned artists’ stages such as Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Justin Beiber, etc. And also, it is the home stadium of America’s famous NBA basketball team, New York Knicks. Therefore, it showed the global brand power of SM which started the K-pop fever in New York.
In fact, New York concert is not the first concert in United States. 15,000 tickets of SMTOWN LIVE WORLD TOUR in LA, which was held at LA Staples Center (US) in September 2010, were sold out and entered the Top 10 of the BOXCORE chart on American Billboard magazine. It was a successful concert which led to the SMTOWN LIVE in PARIS which was held in June.
Meanwhile, SMTOWN LIVE WORLD TOUR will be held at Tokyo Dome in Japan for three days (September 2nd ~ September 4th) with 150,000 seats.
Seating layout:
According to Livenation and Koreaboo, the floor will be split into three different sections as opposed to the SMTOWN LA floor layout of four sections.
Regarding ticket sales, tickets will go on sale Friday, September 9 at 10am through www.livenation.com, www.ticketmaster.com, phone (800.745.3000), and at select Ticketmaster locations. Tickets will also be available at the Madison Square Garden box office starting Monday, September 12th. Prices range from $44.50-204.50.
The artists performing as part of SMTOWN LIVE are KANGTA, BoA, TVXQ!, Super Junior, Girls’ Generation, SHINee, and f(x).

So with SHINee and TVXQ both confirmed for the KBS free concert in NY on October 9th, then they will have to return for SMTown two weeks later on October 23rd… that’s quite a bit of flying (NYC is farther away from Seoul than Paris is). I counted eleven SME artists for L.A., but only five for Paris, and I expect SME to send a similar pared down performer list for the expensive flight/hotel in NY, perhaps meaning more performances from the Girls.
KBS’s Randall’s Island location is easily accessible via car, and has somewhat awkward access via public transit. MSG has excellent public transit links as it sits atop a major subway/Amtrak/commuter rail hub that serves the entire region. You can even travel without any parental supervision (if you must) on a single train and get directly to the venue from as far away as Boston, Toronto, Montreal, Washington. (God bless you folks trying to drive a car into midtown NYC and parking in the overpriced parking garages.)
Interesting choice of a Sunday concert. I could see parents objecting to the concert because there is school the next day. I very much doubt that a second date will be added unless there were to be extraordinary demand. But for what it’s worth, the arena is free for all the dates previous to the 23rd, as the sports teams *start* on the 24th (basketball) and 27th (hockey).
And a successful/profitable SMTown NY means there is a greater chance for an SMTown in *your* major city, especially as SME tries to expand into *new* territory, the kind of places that would draw media attention back in Asia, as it validates these artists as “world stars” that are categorically different than other Kpop groups.

Does anyone know if I could buy the t-shirts (if they have any) WITHOUT attending the concert? ^___^
CrispyNorZ said:
I don’t think so since there isn’t gonna be any merch for sale at the concert. The only way to get any merch was supposedly to buy the VIP package when you bought tickets.
