WAKE UP WAKE UPPPPPPPPPPP!!!
We finally have the long awaited Anniversary Podcast #24 recorded last month. (Don’t get the numbers confused by what we might accidentally say on the podcast –we’re all over the place right now~ :<, it’s PODCAST #24)
BIG BIG BIG DISCLAIMER: SM Bashing, other fandom bashing, politics, and a lot a lot a lot a lot of cussing.
This podcast may offend the broke, simple-minded, and sensitive.

For those of you of LEGAL age, I encourage you to play the S.K. drinking game –one shot for every curse word.
Another shot if a staffers’ aegyo makes you cringe:
Every time staffer Dreadtech rages:
-1 drink for every backwards song correctly guessed.
If you end the podcast still sober, I’ll send you a very special and exclusive SNSD gift.
(I must have concrete evidence that you did every single shot though. i.e.: a youtube video and there must be witnesses.)
As far as the SMTown Seoul concert goes, you know you’re hardcore if you get tat’d up. Props to this dude. Respect.
(An automatic -10 drinks if you too have an SNSD tattoo.)

On a side note…
…Podcast #23 was lost somewhere in the Pacific Ocean on my way back to California…
Just kidding, it’ll be up as soon as I get over my jet lag, get a boyfriend, save the world, find a job.
fun 😆
a SNSD tattoo is a must have for any sone, yes?
Just wanted to clarify a point I made in the podcast. Totally explained the economics wrong.
A monopoly are price setters in that they set both price and quantity based off of the profit maximizing rule: Marginal Revenue = Marginal Cost. They are not price takers which only exist in perfect competition where Price = Marginal Cost. The supply curve is irrelevant in a monopoly context because they control it, so all that really matters is the MR=MC rule for producing the right quantity of goods to maximize profits.
To say that SMent is a monopoly is extreme but they are a profit maximizing firm that faces a demand curve that is highly inelastic because a lot of consumers are SONEs. Also a vertical demand curve does not make sense if it reflects the aggregate of indifference curves of consumers in a given market. Essentially, what you would be saying is that every consumer would want this quantity regardless of the price. That is not true. Think about it. If all Soshi Concerts were free, would people all demand the same quantity of it? No they would demand more.
Wouldn’t the demand curve be almost vertical since no matter the price, fans will still go no matter what. Hence, a large increase in price will not decrease the quantity demanded much. Its the supply curve the SM sets as they determine how much they want to sell at a given price. Firms set supply curves the consumers set demand curves right?
Oops, I just got the two mixed up. Didn’t really bother to think about it because I just posted what I remember from our discussion after the show with a few people. I updated my comment with a much more thought out explanation.
Oh speaking of SMTown, SMTown is finally coming to SG~! Woohoo~!!! maybe snsdkorean would want to consider reporting on that hahaha.
