i was really looking forward to the topic regarding japan and why all the remakes: i for one am all for new songs, but SM is already working on it. i think SM’s buying more time with SNSD’s japanese skills and also creating more fanbase in japan to those who are not familiar with SNSD. hence, all the remakes are what they’re delivering right now to further promote them to the general public. just like the article i read, the girls are very popular indeed…but mostly, their popularity are concentrated in the metropolitan area where a majority of young japanese frequents. SM’s actually expanding SNSD’s popularity not just in tokyo, but all through out japan. the remaking of their songs is an easy way to cut cost on production, less effort, and the girls don’t have to learn a new choreography. SM knows those are hit songs, and jsones would love to hear what it would sound like if they sing it in japanese…so basically, they’re doing the japanese fans a favour by translating these already popular songs into their language. and so far, its been doing better than expected.
its easy to write a song, but its not exactly easy for it to be a hit. i for once, am for SM’s strategy here…they’re making the fans anticipate the girls’ first japanese album by providing us remakes at the moment to fill in the void when they are not promoting in japan. i rather have SM delay their album a bit longer than have them do a new song right away that would most likely be bad because it wasn’t carefully plan cause they rushed the production. YG’s delaying BB’s comeback till Feb. after finding out SM will have HoMin make a comeback this month. So why can’t SM do it with SNSD? also, its hard to write a song specifically for SNSD: they have 9 members, which means they have to equally distribute all the parts to each of them. UMJ already mentioned that they don’t want to alter SNSD’s already remarkable reputation, so they too are agreeing that in the meantime, its better to just do remakes, until they can 100% be sure that the girls are ready to release a new album. and since japan is the second largest market in the world, wouldn’t you want to make your first album the defining album of your career? Hell, yes….

Just a suggestion about the actual recording of the podcast: have everyone involved record their own voice. Recording the group call is okay but if everyone records their own voice and after the show sent all those files to whoever is editing I think would result in better quality in all the voices.
Just make sure that when you are ready to record, start a countdown then have everyone clap before each segment. That way, the editor can instead of having to listen to all the files to sync them all up, the editor can just look at the peaks and overlay each person easily and much quicker. Again, just a suggestion so you don’t have to do it but I notice some people’s voices are quieter than others on the podcast. I think because everyone is on the same call from around the world that the connection for some is stronger than for others. So if everyone records their own voice and send those recordings in, everyone’s voice should sound relatively at the same level, and even if you have to increase or decrease someone, those changes shouldn’t become so drastic that when someone hears their voice they don’t have any static or sound drowned out.
