SNSD’s music provides a little something to suit everyone’s musical tastes and needs. Fans of funky dance tracks, irresistible pop beats and bittersweet ballads all find common ground where these nine girls are concerned. And virtually every other genre is showcased not necessarily on albums but through countless covers.
So where do fans of traditional music stand? More specifically Pansori, a Korean form involving one vocalist and one percussionist telling a story through song. Well those fans will have something to fantasize about now, at least, as top Korean traditional music educator Ahn Sookseon admitted during a broadcast of KBS 2TV’s ‘Free Time’ that she would like to work with SNSD.
You know what that means…
JIGEUMEUN HANBOK GENERATION!
SNSD does it up traditionally…or with a modern twist!
Ahn Sookseon said she’d seen SNSD perform and thought the members were pretty and the stages appealing. She expressed her wish to meet the girls and share her passion for Pansori with them by teaching them about Korean traditional music and performing for them. Kim Duksoo, a respected individual in the area of Samul nori, another form of Korean traditional music, agreed but also voiced his regret that today’s generation did not care for traditional music. Could SNSD be the key to opening young people’s eyes to the magnificence of this traditional form of expression? If the two parties do end up working together I believe they could make such beautiful music together, if you’ll pardon the pun 🙂

Soshi’s next concept: PANSORI STYLE .
Lol
Seriously, I would love that. Keeping in touch with their culture, what more one that is so rich in history. Singing a ballad-pansori in hanbok on Mucore. Awesome!
…I have to agree, the youth of today’s generation definitely neglect a traditional and fundamental source of music that might’ve served its purpose as the foundation of all music to start from and work from there onwards.
Since adolescents of my age are pretty insular, shallow and naive whenever it comes to their favourite genre of music and basically turn a blind eye to all sorts of traditional mysticism, having SNSD, whose primary association with teenagers comes to mind as ‘Modern’, to serve as the promoter for a form of music that’s slowly fading into obscurity definitely helps to remind us of our musical roots.
While utilizing anybody else will not garner as much attention to yearn for as stellar, who better to turn to than SNSD?
Nice photos! SNSD in traitional Korean drama looks lovely~
Whohoo they looks cute and yeah they can open our eyes for traditional music and finally thanks for my friends Sones for sharing your thought and videos and pics ❤ ❤
