Hey… so I’ve read that you don’t obviously advertise for people’s projects… but I was wondering if the next time you had a spare line or two in a post you could just put a link to my SNSD remix page on Soundcloud?
I know how this works. I check SNSDkorean every single day and I’m not asking for my own post or anything like that – I’m no Robotaki, hahaha. 🙂 But for example, next week when Mr. Taxi comes out the first thing I’m going to do is (learn the dance, and then) make a fresh summer remix of it. I know there aren’t very many people outside of Robotaki and Rex Rowdee who remix SNSD and I think it would be a fun thing to share with all the sones so we can all jam to our girls together. 😉

Hey, don’t worry too much about it ;). I think it’s some blog programming pre-set. I got this comment a couple of times already ( the latest was when I posted the “Mr. Taxi” CD/DVD credits list that you requested on the blog site) and it usually resolves itself after some time has lapsed. Same here, but what Kenneth provided in his reasons for the site doing so pretty much explains why our comments were waiting for approval. Most of the time, my comments wouldn’t even show up for several hours and initially I thought something was wrong with my computer, but I couldn’t pinpoint the exact cause of the problem after realizing it wasn’t my computer’s fault.
After getting accustomed to having my comments waiting for approval by the blog many times and later on reading Kenneth’s comment about why it happens and such, it pretty much assures us that everything will be fine regarding the posting of comments on this blog. We’ll just have to be more patient now if our comment doesn’t show up instantly after we click the ‘Post Comment’ button.

The wordpress platform uses a spam filter called akismet.
We don’t manually approve each comment, as that’s too much work to sift through everything and there’s really no need to moderate comments since we’re pretty open for the most part. If a comment is waiting for approval, then akismet thinks that there’s something questionable about it, and then we’d have to manually approve those that are withheld.
I’m not too familiar with the specifics of how akismet’s algorithm works, but it seems that comments with external links, that are too short, or really really long comments are sometimes filtered. This is likely why Terrez is a constant victim of our spam filter and we usually have to approve his comments on our own lol. If akismet thinks its ‘definitely’ spam, then it’ll just toss it in spam without holding it for moderation. I think this has happened with one of Terrez’s really really really long comments before.
The comments appear immediately once approved, but sometimes this can be hours because.. well, we’re not always on the blog and we need to be logged into the dashboard to approve them. For the most part, its pretty good at knowing what to auto-approve, withhold, or send straight to spam.

I was watching Simon and Martina’s interview on ArirangTV the other day, and they did make some rather bold statements on the spot saying how SNSD lack personality and extravagance in their MVs’ and television appearances. It’s a given that ArirangTV doesn’t have the best interview sessions and some hardcore SNSD fans retorted angrily to their statements.
Assuming SaM (Simon and Martina) didn’t anticipate the interviewer(s) questions and came up with answers beforehand, perhaps they might have conjured up an impromptu and inadequate answer. As for the bashing of SNSD to make their bias of Big Bang (Martina’s favourite group) look good, well, humans have preferences, opinions, are naturally biased and prone to making mistakes on the spot. Cut them some slack.
Eventually, some SONEs’ responded that SNSD did have personality and showed them evidence, and for SaM to lose fans because of a little bold statement is a little illogical from my perspective, but I don’t blame the fans because of their irrational behaviour because they’re humans too (referencing my previous point). SaM argued in their defence that “you didn’t have to do outside research to enjoy a video” and apologized for making the statement, although Martina is a little trigger happy about GD&TOP somehow.
Granted, the humour in SaM’s videos’ can be a little distasteful sometimes and doesn’t really suit the “funny bone” preference of some people, but at the end of the day, it’s meant to be a humourous video for our entertainment and not to be taken seriously. I can relate to this because I’m a little bit of a prankster, but sometimes people go off the rails because they’re so obsessed about something their overprotective about at twitch at the slightest negative remark, even though it doesn’t hold any sort of significance.
In the end, SaM apologized and the fans of SNSD have forgiven, forgotten and moved on. I’m a person outnumbered a million to one when talking about the fangirls and fanboys of K-pop groups, but I think I can leave a little bit of advice. If the gentlemen from U-KISS acknowledge watching their videos’ and can take a joke (from Eatyourkimchi’s recent video about the Jeju Inkigayo backstage footage) from SaM in their Music Monday reviews despite sounding a little offensive, that means it’s all good with them, U-KISS even poked with the joke about the math/pi thingy with SaM. One of the members even politely asked if they could do anything for them, which obviously shows that both parties aren’t really all that serious about anything and just wanted to spend some fun time with each other to ‘wahtevar’ around.
To conclude this pointless essay, if K-Pop groups know how to take a joke no matter how offensive it sounds (depends), I don’t see why the overprotective fans can’t. Sure, the fans may not be able to distinguish a joke from a true statement with their current inane state of mind and all that mind-resilience stuff, but that’s a whole different story. Long story short, drop the seriousness and enjoy the entertainment for what it is if it makes some people happy. It’s not all that bad and your favourite K-Pop group know it too when at the end of the day, it’s all in good fun.

SNSD is no. 2 on the weekly Oricon (110k+) selling short of 9k+ units below korean actor JGS :(…no worries, as they’ve sold over 100k+ on their first week barely getting promoted even after they’ve debut in japan last September. the japanese tour will surely boost their fanbase even more and expect of all their singles to climbed back on the charts. hopefully, Mr. Taxi can sell strongly in this whole month of May as they still hold the no. 1 position on the daily chart for 5 days straight already.

I’m guessing majority of them bought the single via pre-orders already because one of the editions has now sold out on japanese album sites like CDJapan and HMVJapan. My question is…do pre-orders count for the first week sale because what’s the use of pre-ordering if its not going to be counted? supposedly, Mr. Taxi’s pre-order was @ 200k+, and if that counts towards the first week’s sale then that puts SNSD way in the lead and not only that, they already went platinum for their first week. So I still don’t get the pre-order thing, can anyone confirm how these things work?

Actually, forget about my earlier comment. I wasn’t thinking about what I had to write in a response and you might have interpreted it as trolling. I’m doing this now before my mind goes blank. To be fair, I’ll attempt to write as concise as I can and summarise the information given in clear, simplified English to the best of my abilities so that it doesn’t tire anybody’s eyes out.

First off, I’m glad that PeachBlossum’s impression of me is of a SONE, not a troll. And I appreciate the kindness in not sounding rude at all when talking about the way I write and I’ll take it as honest feedback and constructive criticism. He/she has the permission to judge the way I write and how it can be long-winded because I too, am able to see how it can be excessive and overly analytical in terms of words used and points given respectively, although I’m still having some difficulty in addressing those flaws.
Most of the time, I often think “Hell yeah!” when I’m meticulously writing out an elaborate comment, but regret my decision in clicking the ‘Post Comment’ button and think to myself “What the hell was I thinking?” As a result, I’m experiencing the same problem in reading EVEN my own comments, just like anybody else as it has that bemusing factor to it. So I tend to stick with writing shorter comments, but I have this uncontrollable urge that itches me to write superlatively. I’ve tried to overcome it, but it often prevails over me, unfortunately. But I’m making steady progress in screwing that urge over somehow, so wish me luck.
But when it comes down to writing about SNSD, it’s not my forte. I try to squeeze every bit of information I know into every nook and cranny imaginable just to write about how impeccable the ladies are, but it always backfires on me, resulting in a misfired attempt with turgid, bewildering comments that are difficult to comprehend logically and it’s interpreted by other commenters as “I have no freaking idea what the heck he’s talking about.”
Many thanks go out to PeachBlossum for taking the initiative to speak up and comment on my writing style as I’m able to understand my writing liabilities further and improve on them. While also making light of the needs of other people and how I can address those needs without making too much a fool of myself. =D

As for Kenneth, he’s right to say that he personally feels that I like to write. In addition to visiting this blog for the latest news regarding SNSD’s involvement, I also use it as a digital platform to practice my literary skills and share it with other visitors like Kenneth, who I’ve grown to view as a trustworthy individual who loves spazzing over SNSD.
In my defense, he tells everyone to cut me some slack as I’m just doing what I like to do for recreation, and I appreciate that effort in doing so. Perhaps I’ll be able to return him the favour one day.
While what I write does make for an interesting read for Kenneth, I still don’t consider myself that great. I’m somewhat of an aspiring writer with so much more to learn, so hopefully I’ll be able to produce some quality articles in the future. Perhaps even write about him, lol.

Ruraldaze, I don’t know how you deem PeachBlossum’s first comment as offensive, but I telling him/her to say ‘TL;DR’ whenever she sees a comment made by me is a little unnecessary. I’m well aware that my articles are viewed as excessively long, but I don’t think it needs to warrant a ‘TL;DR’ on every occasion. It’s much more unproductive to write ‘TL;DR’ as a response to every comment I make than to write just one short response telling me what’s wrong with my writing style and what improvements can be made/done. Makes perfect sense, no?

don’t get me wrong! i enjoy sipping on a steaming mug of chocolate and reading stuff that provides insight and valid opinions; it helps me see things in a different way. LOL…I didn’t think my harmful comment got to you, but I’m sorry if it did because for sure I don’t feel that way about you…not at all! I think you’re a 100% SONE and never once thought that you are a troll because your writing doesn’t leave that kind of trace. I just find it rather amusing that you often write a VERY long explanations that often end up getting side-track from your original point. But I do agree with Kenneth and you do have a talent to write you just need the proper training and you will be able to grab a reader’s attention without feeling like the reader is getting lost with your writing. Have you think about applying here @ SK as a staff writer? It would be beneficial not only for this site, but it will further enhances your skills in writing.

To be honest, I did submit an application for the writer’s position here at SNSDKorean in the past, but they rejected it. It didn’t deter me from applying or write ever again because I was well aware that my application was chock full of hackneyed and incomprehensible writing, and was entirely my fault. Not to mention, I didn’t really give convincing or legitimate reasons for some of the questions and lacked the qualities of a good writer. So what reason did SKE have to hire me when I wasn’t able to fulfill their criteria for the writer’s position?
At the time, writing was a foray for me. I lacked experience and was clearly unprepared for the role. I respected the decision to reject me because the problem lied with me and I had to seek out solutions to the problem. The comments section sort of became my area of practice and to get myself acquainted with the protocols of this blog. So while I was accruing experience, I didn’t really see the role of being a writer for SKE that significant to me any more, and because the comments section had provided me with all the necessary components and was a satisfactory workspace for any aspiring writer, at least to me, of course.
So as my interest in becoming a writer waned, I sort of preferred being just a regular commenter who found it beneficial in being just a visitor as I can’t really imagine the “Stressful workload” of being a staff member. I liked having the freedom to write whatever I please and because I was occupied with other things in life. So… you won’t see me as a member of SKE any time soon. I’m sticking with the good ‘ol comment’s section and posting comments every now and then, giving the occasional ‘wise’ word, haha.

i don’t see the reason for you to get offended by my question regarding Terrez’ writing because my question isn’t about you. not all of us have the time nor patient to read long comments like Terrez puts up on an SNSD’s article regardless of whether he was complimenting them or not. i don’t mind reading at all but if i find that the writing just gets away from the original point of their explanations, then i don’t really see the need to write such a long and obscure comments that sometimes don’t make sense to readers like me. we all come here with the same intentions, and that is our love for all things SNSD so don’t make me think badly of this site (nor its writers) because you somehow felt offended by a comment that wasn’t even address to you in the first place, but a fellow reader as well. and btw…i’m a girl!

lol I was trying to be emphatic towards Terrez, and rightfully so. It was all meant in good fun. One thing you need to know about me is that I’m rarely serious when it comes to teh Internetz. And I don’t see the point of having a serious discussion/debate about other’s knack of writing longass comments when it’s a win-win situation in the first place.

well, u just contradicted yourself from your original reply about being offended by my question in the beginning. and i thought my questioning another person’s way of writing is more of an observation rather than a criticism, but then again you and all others might think otherwise. its funny because you’re one of the writers in this site and you’re suppose to take a neutral stance, yet Kenneth was the one who actually came off as a neutral bystander instead.

I contradicted myself on purpose because I was merely joking. Look, even if Terrez can brush it off and let it go even if he was the one who got judged in the first place and I tried to take the comment lightly, I suppose it’s fair that we can have a good laugh over it. I’m sorry if my words came off sounding rude. I could have added a smiley at the end of my seemingly rude comment to indicate humour; I guess I’m just bad at expressing myself.
Believe me, there are worse things than taking offense to an intended harmless comment, or a witty retort. Like, whether to get tickets to SM TOWN Paris, working hard for a promotion, or deciding between the front seat or the back seat.
btw, you got it wrong. I am not a writer for snsdkorean.com. I’m just a fellow visitor/commenter like you guys.

Have you guys considered a Shoubox implementation on the front page of the blog? I was on another WordPress fanblog that has a shoutbox on the side of the front page and it is heavily utilized and seems to generate a lot more interactions and fun conversations. I think that could be a great alternative to Chatroll because it’s fully integrated and it doesn’t need to open another browser window, plus people can read articles and be chatting at the same time.

Oh really… the fanblog I was on that had the shoutbox was also a WordPress blog. But they revamped the site a little while ago and the shoutbox was removed, don’t know if that’s due to incompatibilities with WordPress. I would’ve linked you to see the example if it was still there. Do you have any other chat options besides chatroll and shoutbox?

Well, I’ll be unable to check in for some time, so I’ll take that as an excuse to be a little more forward this time.
We all come to the park to play. But if someone staples his treatises to all the trees or is given to giving long speeches in a loud voice, isn’t it fair that the other patrons might enjoy coming to the park a little bit less?
And as far as “providing insight and valid opinions” – that would be easier to swallow if providing conflicting opinions or invitations to refine the point didn’t bring on charges that you don’t understand (because you’re not smart enough) or that you’re just trying to prove who’s smarter. I already miss not having to bite my lip whenever reading the comments. I’m going to miss doing so anyway.
The situation has improved, but everything is a work in progress. Hopefully all parties will continue to make the effort towards mutual accommodation.
Whew, that’s me being forward? Well, there’s a lot I could say and only slightly less that I want to say, but I didn’t. If anyone frowns one my inviting a topic that I’m not going to discuss, perhaps a parallel can be found in the above.
I suppose one doesn’t have to take the internet seriously, but one ought to take other people seriously. Like Kenneth once said, one ought to think before writing – not only about what is to be written, but about the people who are going to read it. Thanks site folk and commenting folk and ’til then!

quick updates on SNSD’s releases in japan:
“Hoot” repackaged album: 159, 254+ units sold (a jump from last week’s 132k+ units) and its already rivaling their S. Korean physical sales which is at 164, 000+ units. its also selling better than their first japanese release “Genie.”
“Genie” : 146, 540+ units sold
“Gee” : 193, 763+ units sold (well on its way to 200k units) though this could be a delayed count…”Gee” probably sold 200k+ already because counts are done weekly instead of daily.
“Mr. Taxi” : 100, 461+ units sold…oricon weekly will be release on Tuesdays (i think?) and “Mr. Taxi” currently is at no. 6 on the daily oricon.

That rumor has been around since Yurui reported it around 2 weeks ago, nothing has materialized. I have doubts about this rumor because they usually announce their Japanese releases way in advance, pulling a surprise release would seem to go against their usual practice, although it would be a very pleasant surprise nonetheless.

😀 i’m glad that u’ve found us haha. to answer your questions, we usually update on almost everything especially when they’re on shows, guest appearances, performances, and certain rumors, but not EVERYTHING. sometimes, we leave out or don’t update on certain things that we think aren’t necessary to post about. we do try our best to post about everything though :]]

I had just refreshed the page. And what greets my eyes immediately the moment I set them upon the “Boys and Girls” column on the right hand corner of the front page? A picture of Kenneth’s iconic Tiffany thumbnail which he uses for his wordpress account in the presence of other accomplished writers and staffers of SNSDKorean.
As I sluggishly sit down to rest on my chair before listening to one of the OSTs’ (Breathing Love*) from the Bejeweled 2 Deluxe edition soundtrack for the PC on Youtube, I worked up a weak but honest smile and chuckled a little to myself. His satisfaction to finally be on board and work alongside such talented individuals, among a community who love SNSD… and a blog peopled with supportive and intelligent readers like me. Kenneth has grown on me, and that’s all the motivation I need to oversee his progress and growth of his character (not in a bad way, of course), and to support him all the way.
It’s somewhat akin to the experience of a parent raising his child, finally seeing him/her leave the nest as the proud parent sheds a small tear and it rolls down his cheek. There’s absolutely no doubt that I cannot suppress my happiness for him. I’m way beyond elated to see him make the cut. His ‘achievement’ (no other word I can think of) can definitely be felt from all angles as it has gratified me. If he’s in high spirits, the happiness spreads like a contagious virus (so to speak), so that means I’m happy too, kind of how Tiffany’s optimistic attitude can alleviate any aggravating experience for anybody and supplant it with positive emotions.
Congratulations mate. You deserve it.
